Well, the moment someone cheats, I consider the relationship over, at least in the previous form, so I wouldn't even call "revenge cheating" a cheating at all, because there's no more trust, there's nothing to betray anymore.
The issue I have with "revenge cheating" is that it feels unfair to any outside party unknowingly getting involved and that you may as well just break up first. If A1 cheats on B1 with A2, then B1 revenge cheats with B2, then if either A2 or B2 don't know they're in a relationship with a cheater, then I'd feel it's unfair for them. And if you're about to cheat or revenge cheat on someone with another person, but decide to be fair by saying "just so you know, I'm cheating on my SO with you (cuz they cheated on me [if this is revenge cheating])", I feel most people wouldn't accept that (either not wanting to get involved in the drama or be with that kind of person). I mean, if they do, then fine, it's a consenting cheat-fest, but at this point, just break up and move on. In order to cheat on someone, you have to be in a relationship, so revenge cheating implies you're still in that relationship which I feel is an issue.
I mean I agree to an extent, but I think the solution is to just break up. The trust can not be rebuilt.
Certainly in that line of thinking. But there are many things part of a relationship, the spirit of the relationship and your individual sides. By him/her cheating, they challenge the spirit of the relationship and by extension your level of trust. But while you may engage in a retaliation, that also further stains the spirit of that relationship because whatever the situation, you are still acquainted at the very least. But this time the other party has the right to share doubts on your integrity if you are willing to do an eye for an eye despite with justification. Also, do we want society to think that this dynamic is okay? There are too many values in question here

Totally agree with Roberu, the moment they cheated on you, you should definitely break up. They don't respect or love you, there's no happiness in the future.

In the context of cheating , I assume that all of us here have dreams of marrying or hook up with a jp girl at some point. But as time goes by seeing and hearing rumors about their cultural common sense there is such a big turn off for me. Like seeing yt channels interview about cheating in japan is so prevalent that it makes me think its so common that my perspective of japan is not a paradise land to fulfill your anime dreams lmao.

Cheating is insanely common in Japan for both men and women. I’d say 6 out of 10. This is what all the soap lands and host clubs are for.

Thing is whether that person considers the physical part of the relationship cheating or not. Delutaya said before that she'd be fine with her boyfriend going to a soapland since she isn't interested in the physical side of it; but if he were on a date with another woman, that's when she'd believe the line was crossed.

Prostitution should be legal, but the problem is how normalized cheating is. It's certainly strange, but also the reasons behind it make sense if you understand how people are affected in this social and economical climate. Still no excuse for it though.

We live in a society. People cant just randomly decide that they have a subjective sense of morality and outsiders have no right to judge them.
