      The problem is in some situations this can actually worsen. She might try to earn money in a wrong way or never come back anymore knowing she isnt allowed in after a certain time. I understand why the mom didnt try any of these methods.

    "Being 20 isn't about drinking. It's about becoming an adult." 👍👍👍 Meaningful words from Chanwoo! 😀 I used to drink and never experienced being drunk when I entered college at 16 but when I reached 18 I developed asian flush and scratches that wont make me sleep comfortably for a whole week. Since then i stopped drinking even for a little sip. Good thing my friends are not alcoholics 😂 i have good girls around me 😆

      Brittany Blessed she didn’t complete high school so there isn’t a place that will hire her since they consider her untrustworthy. She said it in the video

    • @PianoFanatic1989
      @PianoFanatic1989 6 ปีที่แล้ว +130

      In Korea, it can be difficult to get your own place if you don't have the money. A lot of apartments require you to pay a "key money" deposit, which is usually around 2 years' equivalent of the rent. So, if the rent was 500 dollars a month, she would have to pay a key deposit of around 12,000. Another option is living in a goshiwon but with her not being able to find a job, I doubt she'd have the money to afford that either.

    • @sidesideful
      @sidesideful 6 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      Aww, how sad that she' s not willing to do things the right way, which is getting her GED, then she will be able to have some leeway in getting things on her own, job, house, etc.

    • @uzuitengens4thwife960
      @uzuitengens4thwife960 6 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      Brittany Blessed I was thinking the same thing. I mean she’s already living on her own in motels why not move out?

    • @sidesideful
      @sidesideful 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Aww, didn't realize. Also, I think the minimum wage over there is around $7. :O Maybe she should try to get several part-time jobs and save up very very slowly. We can't get anywhere without hard work. However in her case, I don't think it's physical hard work she needs to work on. I think she needs to work on her emotional needs. I think she's avoiding the guilt of facing her family that she's so useless. She had originally wanted to look for a job. So I think she needs to put in the effort to be courageous and live with her family again and learn to accept her family's love despite all she's done.

    At a certain extent I relate to the girl. Because I also argue with my parents mostly with my mom. She constantly stresses me out and compares me with my friends and my relatives. Which is why I would constantly go out with my friends at night or during the day. But as much as I don't want to go home, I do. I don't stay out overnight without telling them or else something worse will just happen.

    • @misssushi7853
      @misssushi7853 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I can relate to that but as much as I want to escape the antagonizing torture of comparison; making you feel like you're worthless.. I'm broke xD so yeah I just listen to it on my right ear and take it out on my left ear. I just can't wait when I can earn money so I can escape this hellhole

    • @mozartpetter
      @mozartpetter 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I went through some similar situation, like you folks. Best I can say is, try to see it from a different perspective and stay strong, it might feel like suffering but you can learn a lot from it. Some parents are strict for a reason, maybe it was their education or the way they see things, you might not understand, but you can't change that. Absorb the good things, take a deep breath and move on, once you get older you'll be grateful for good part of it. Toodeloo

    • @triggertheoriegroupy
      @triggertheoriegroupy 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’m the same, I can leave for weeks and come home like nothing happened. My father stresses me out most days, so I go out and stay with friends. The difference is that I stay with my grandpa(mothers father) and my father lives with us, so he has no say in how I spend my days. I also, am very prompt with my bills and I pay my grandpa every week for expenses. Theres a mutual understanding.

    • @sidesideful

      Thank you for each and every comment within this thread. You guys are the mature ones who keep it real. You guys know that the situation is bad, but you don't handle it irresponsibly. Thank you for sharing the thoughts I was thinking about. I rarely see comments so articulate, where I agree with fully. Also, this may seem like a useless thing to say, but I truly believe it that for all of you who commented, things will get better. The universe works in ways we don't even understand.

      I can't relate. My dad called me fat and made fat jokes when I stayed the weekend due to court ordered with him. Then to come up to my alcoholic stepdadr who beat my mother everyday basically. She would kobe he should up the cops didn't do anything. I have PTSD fro.him touching me and other mental illnesses. Had to take care of my disabled sister who had cerebral palsy had seizures and is quadrapaligic. Yet no matter what I didn't go out much even when I wanted to. I never drank and still drink. I came late 2 times because the car broke down and I took a taxi. I never burdend my mother just because I was bullied at school and people telling me to kill myself. No excuses in a way. But everyone is different you tell someone no and you'll get 1000 reactions...

    I used to go out and drink alot when i was 16-18y/o, i used to go home between 3-5am. sometimes even 8 am. I had lots of fun back then, i will remember them forever. But as much as i enjoyed those days, i also regret going that extreme. I missed out the chance to spend more time with my family and focus on my studies. I'm paying for all those mistakes now. My grandfather passed away recently (i lived with him during those times), i'm really regretting how bad i was to him. not only that but i really lost a lot...time, education..... if only i could go back in time.

    If they complain about your mom's decision then they're not real friends, they just want happiness, they just care for themselves, not thinking about the good advice your parents gave that may make you have a succesfull life, not only you, also them. Being 20 is a age where you start to be a matured person not immature.

    i wish i was that confident to do that to my parents. i'm 23 and still can't do that to them since they're still providing a roof over my head. i mean it's okay to go out with your friends once in a while but to constantly stress your mum like that is just plain disrespectful.

    저도 왕따를 당해본 사람으로써 저 친구를 알겠는데요... 그래도 저는 학교 다 갔습니다. 왕따 됐다고 해서 학교 안가고 그러는거는 쫌 아닌거 같습니다. 저도 학생때 알바 같은거 못한게 한이 됩니다. 저도 늦게 돈벌어서 23살때 공장에서 일해서 돈번거를 저한테 쓰기보단 집이 먼저라서 집 생활비를 다 대줬구요. 저도 22살까진 철딱서니 없어서 부모님께 면목이없어서 23살때 정신차리고 돈 벌었거든요. 중간에 그만뒀다가 다시 일자리 찾았구요....

    Kicking your kids out of the house if they do bad things is a really bad way to handle a tough situation. It’s more dangerous, builds a more negative parent child relationship and ultimately does nothing to encourage the kid to be home. It simply discourages the kid from staying out, which is actually less of a motivator. I feel like for this girl, if her mom really refused to let her in the house, she would just leave for much much longer periods of time. And then by force, her mother would have to go out and search for her.

    I feel like the daughter should just suck it up and try to get her life together, cause fighting with your mom isn’t going to solve anything. Nor is drinking out with your friends. *You only have one mother in your entire life*
    You can’t always get everything you want in life.

    i don't even have a curfew or keys to my house bc im not allowed to go out in the first place. if i want to go somewhere I have to tell my mom at least a day or two beforehand and she 110% of the time wants to go with me and most of the time if i keep trying to convince her to let me go by my self she'll just refuse to let me go all together :,) and then she says i spend to much time on the computer.... so anytime my friends invite me somewhere I just automatically say no bc I know i cant go. she even told me that the answer will always be no

    Idk maybe it’s because my mindset is “idgaf” but when the sister was like “mom fainted” and the oldest said “why are you telling me call 911” I completely understood her response like it’s an honest response that no one says out loud you know? Like she could’ve been understanding of her feelings a little bit but at the same time what she else was she suppose to say?

    Obviously they are filtering a lot of stuff to make the mom seem like the only victim like yes going out for so long is bad but what led her to start hating going home? What mad her start arguing with her mom? What made her feel like drink is the only thing to make her happy? Also I hate how they just skipped over the fact that the daughter said “she’s always comparing me to my friends” because that’s a very important topic

    I can relate so much. My sister, who gets money from my mom and is in university, always hang out and drink with her friends. She would disappear for like 2 or 3 days and never contact her family or pick up her phone. We told her that it's dangerous to go out so much and she brings out the, "Why can the boys go out, but not the girls!?" I'm like bitch you're gone for 2 or 3 days and never said anything to us and we're just worried. She doesn't understand that the house she lives in belongs to her parents (ours), so she gotta make sure to always communicate where she'll be and respect their concerns. I just can't believe I have such a sister. I hang out with my friends too, but I have never gone MIA for even a day let alone 2-3 days. Like, you can hang out with your friends, that we don't care but just do it in the day time or come before midnight or CONTACT us so we know that you're safe! I have more to say, but I'll stop.
