Thank you everyone to all the greats comments you made, I am glad a lot of you like the redesign! ^^ I just want to tell something to those who thinks her looks is not night or dream enough to suit the character. I can understand your point of view. My goal here was never to make her all sparkly and glittery and all majestic or whatever night and dream can make you think of. In my opinion, it is very cliché. I wasn't concidering giving her this type of look, her magic spells and all can do the job. Making the princess of the night with a night palett is not original enough for my taste ^^ Once again, redesigns are unique for each person, and every single one are good for their creator. That's what make art a fantastic things ✨ I just wanted to answer on that matter! Stay safe!
One thing that I think you missed about Luna is that she isn't just wise and magical, she was baisicly everypony's therapist during the night. So making her look approachable is something that's important for her too. But this design is still amazing (as usual) and I love that you took the time do some research to make sure that you know who you're drawing ❤
I feel like, considering that people were once afraid or intimidated by her, kinda fits. She looks like someone you don’t wanna mess with or has many friends, and has seen some shit and is a hardass when the truth is she is chill and is lonely. She’s a therapist and knows a thing or two to help. I feel like it also works???

And aren't owls associated with moons as well with Artemis? So more than anything having a silent flyer like a barn owl can not only be welcoming to hear her flaps close by but also terrifying when changed into her alternate form is a duality of wisdom and elegance but also lethal stealth and why you do NOT mess with ANYTHING in the dark.

If celestia is a phoenix, then it would not be fair for the others. Everyone has real birds, but not Celestia. She may be like a queen or something but she's still like other ponies.

Interestingly, you chose an owl because the owl represents death and/or evil in some cultures. Considering her story with Nightmare moon is a great representation that is viewed as both good or evil depending on your reading culture.
Name suggestions: either Minerva (the Roman name for Athena) or Diana (Roman name for Artemis, goddess of the hunt and the moon) Edit: definately giving me Minerva vibes, idc if it doesn't fit the MLP naming conventions, it's a good name
If you like with this one it kind of just completely drifted from the night thing like straight-up looking at this karolyi tells about the night feels more like about owls and wisdom and yeah I get that the part of her but the night is also a very very important thing

I... can't agree with your design choices here. I can understand not wanting to take the stereotypical design paths for the princess of the night theme, but there is nothing left to declare this was once Princess Luna. This may as well have been a completely separate alicorn design video and no one would have been the wiser. It's a beautiful design, but it's not a REdesign. A lovely alicorn of the hidden knowledge of the moon and stars, but it's not Luna.
I remember hearing somewhere that luna was originally intended to be named selene, which is the greek name of artemis. I think the owl inspiration nails that and reminds of that heavily! I love this design for her!

Hmmm... not sure if im a big fan of this one Mean don't get me wrong, amazing art and all but.. no matter how much I try, I cant see Luna in this pony, it was quite alright until the momet you started coloring her brown, brown is the last color I would associate with Luna, and honestly i think she should be blue Well, a like anyway because great video, but inside I feel so triggered xD
I'd assume Luna is much more skilled because before she turned into nightmare moon she was doing her best to be as admired as Celestia, so she studied magic intensively to the point where she stumbled apon the ability to BECOME nightmare moon, and since the citizens still ignored her despite her skills, she saw it as her only option.
Either keep luna or Alix. (Not throwing hate just giving my opinion below) I would have given her a few more feathers at the back to make it look like a dress, and I would have given her a transparent mask (idk what they are called) and made a moon at the top of her horn, and the hair just kinda bothers me idk why I would like to see it in a more flowy style myself, and I love the owl aspect you gave Luna, shes my favourite Princess and I'm glad you re-designed her! It looks Awesome either way, and I love how you always think about things, love the work emala! It's good to see how much you've grown.

It’s ok if you can’t make a circle!! Even pro artists can’t just make a perfect one right off the bat. It’s all up to what you make the circle into!

Nah i dont think phoenix would fit, more like a Royal eagle (That's the one that appears on Mexico's flag i think)
