    These Sharp Crt models are probably one of the best out there, and its definitely a close second to the Sony Trinition way back when.

    Great video! I used to have a TV just like that. It originally was in my parents room for many years then later in about 2009 or so when i was old enough to have my own TV in my room, it became mine and my parents ended up getting a 19" also a Sharp branded LCD HDTV which is still in service to this day and has great picture! Unfortunately, we no longer have our CRT TVs since they've all been donated and since replaced with HD flat screen sets. I could go on and on about the CRT TVs that have been in my family and friends houses. Seeing that CRT in this video really takes me back in time!

    I still use a CRT PC monitor today. They just have qualities that LCDs don't like latency and just the way they look.

    That TV, despite your measuring it, is likely a 13" TV. That was a common size for small TVs, and you didn't find them larger than that until you got up to a 19" set. That's probably why the model number starts with "13".
    Back in our old apartment, I bought a brand new Panasonic 27" CRT, still have it, and it still works perfectly. I fully agree, the picture quality was quite good for what it was. Back in the day, I also watched TH-cam on the TV. The computer was a desktop, and I had a long enough S-Video cable, and audio cables, to run through the wall to the TV in the other room. I used a wireless mouse to control it. I even routed the sound into the stereo. I had a VHS player and used it extensively. Also had a DVD player, later on, which didn't see as much use.
    When I bought my house, that Panasonic TV of course came with us, and was the main TV in the living room. Some years in, I scored an incredible deal on a 54" Plasma set, so the CRT was decommissioned. The Plasma set beats out just about any standard LCD set I've seen to this day. Much more vibrant. That set also still works perfectly. Both these Panasonic sets don't see much use, so the picture stays very sharp. The TV in the bedroom is a very heavily used RCA 27" CRT, and it shows its age. Yet, I have an Android TV box hooked up to it over composite, and watch TH-cam on it practically every day. So much so, that I rarely switch it back over to regular cable TV.
    There's something about CRTs that simply cannot be duplicated by any other technology. They are fantastic all around, and no LCD panel comes close. Of all the computers in the house, all have CRT monitors except for one, and it's going to stay that way for some time to come.

      That wouldn't surprised me, manufacturers seem to like to play games with screen sizes.
      I've heard a lot of good things about the Plasma TVs. I received a 42" Sharp Aquos from a friend a few months back, works fine and has a good picture. I'll likely use that as my main TV because it's free and works. I've seen some Plasma TVs of a decent size at the local Habitat Restore, but they're often quite expensive. I don't think I'd watch it often enough to make it worth investing it. I haven't had cable TV for years, I only watch TH-cam and some things on Amazon Video. Every now and again I'll connect the computer to a projector and watch that way, but probably over 95% of the time I just watch on the computer.
      I remember using CRT monitors quite well. Several of the computer labs at school still had them all the way through when I was in high school, though they were in the process of being replaced. Some of them even lasted through the update to Windows 7, which I think happened the year I graduated. I remember the vividness and depth of the colors of Windows 7 being exceptional on the CRTs compared to the newer LCD units they were getting replaced with.

    A CRT TV is capable of having an amazing picture, The best picture on any CRT TV I have seen is on the old delta gun sets. That and the 30 inch HD Sony Trinitron I used to have, it had an HDMI ports and was digital. That thing was 197 pounds. They are perfectly capable of being clear and looking fine. The main issue is that the resolution is generally very low on them, and if you are watching content that was designed to be viewed on them it looks fine, but modern content that is in a very high resolution and in 16:9 it will look like crap. Which is sad because it gives people the impression that these old TVs are lesser than the new ones, even though they are far better. I also think it is sad that analog TV has been shut off, I think analog was better, everyone says that digital is better because the picture quality is better and there is no interference, and while that is true, with digital it is all or nothing, if you have poor signal the channel is not watchable at all. With analog, if you have great signal the picture looks fine, and if you have weak signal there may be some static, but you can still watch it even if it is not clear. Also, digital has killed off the portable TV because the TV has to be completely still, if you move it at all the signal will break up and not come in, with analog it could be moved and worked just fine.

      Analog always has been, and always will be, better.

    I love CRT TVs and monitors. I'm hoping my family's Philips Magnavox TVs are in my mom's storage unit. One of them is older and was my grandparents TV. We switched to a huge Sony Trinitron, then we had a big RCA tv until my dad bought a flat screen in 2012, which i now have since we moved in late 2012.

      I hope it's there too, these TVs aren't getting any easier to find.

    These white cabinet TVs were marketed toward kitchens just as you had it there, I guess the idea was to match white appliances. I know RCA/Thomson had a 13" model that was white and had a washable remote control. I used to have a 13" Mitsubishi that was also white cabinet, the picture was fuzzy and I couldn't get to the adjustments since there was no remote with it (it was a curb find). I believe Magnavox had white ones also.

    • @JordanU
      @JordanU  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's quite clever for the remote to be washable when intended for use in the kitchen.
