Saw a tv show the other day with two sisters who redo houses and build their own furniture. They named off three must haves, and a pocket hole jig was one of them. I'd never heard of it before. After this video, I know I have to have one. Thanks. Extremely instructive and helpful and well done.
+Raechel Taylor Thanks Raechel, yes this joinery is great for outdoor furniture, just make sure you use outdoor screws and it should last for many years
What a great video Colin. Aside from what a few others have mentioned, this was exceptionally well presented. Great explanations and visual aids as well. Derek
Thanks for the video, it helps a lot. I just purchased the Harbor freight version of the pocket hole jig, and, having used a kreg version before, am very impressed with the way they all work. I'm planning on building new cabinet doors for my kitchen, so this is going to be great to show my wife, so that she understands what we are doing. thanks again.
Your videos are very clear and easy to follow. I'm a beginner and I've watched a lot of them. And the fact that they're short and only cover one topic also makes them really easy to understand. Thank you for continuing to do them. BTW, you need a shirt that says that sawdust is woman glitter, too. :)
oh yes Colin , those were 11 minutes of my life well spend. Never used a pocket hole jointer but after seeing this I think I am convinced..Thanks.. Marc
Great video!! Gave me some great ideas for a dinning room table i am starting to do tomorrow. A Lot of your videos are SUPER helpful. Thanks for sharing them.
This was excellent. I watched several videos on pocket holes, and this was the best. I liked that you showed all the different uses like making a table top or apron to a table leg. (which is exactly what I am doing.) Thank you for making it.
I had the Pocket Jr for over a year and finally went to use it and wonder how. The instructions are ok but I prefer a video. Found yours and within a few minutes I was using it and doing great. Thanks, you helped me complete a project of framing the outside of a sliding glass door!
Sir, your vid is great and your explanation is very clear! Many a teacher could envy your way of making things so clearly understood. Thank you so much for sharing.
Kathy Dillenbeck Yes, I love using it but for some reason I don't seem to use it that often, but when I do I love how quick and secure it is. Thanks for taking a moment to comment
I liked the Jig you made to hold the Kreg. I don't have room to permanently install my Kreg, so will be building a similar jig today. Thanks for the idea.
Thanks for your wonderful strength tests!! I'm going to get a Key kit to use to remodel my kitchen and makes repairs in my household!! I'm hosting and family reunion!!
My wife got one of kreg jigs for me. And from watching your video im going to make the jigs you have made. There awesome simple ideas thanks for the video👍
Excellent video, thank you.......my hubby has been researching these as he thought my tool cupboard needed one of these..........its going to make my cabinetry even more glamerous.........YaY!!
Thank you I really enjoyed your video. I just started using this joinery. I have made some very nice pieces and they are very strong. I didn't know about the coated screws and I have some outdoor projects I need to do so thanks for the info.
Thanks for the tutorial. This is a great video. I only recently learned about pocket holes and this video explains them in a way that can be understood by someone just starting with these. Thanks!!!
Thank you Colin. Another video I can save when I finally do my first pocket jig. I got the single pocket joint jig. I haven't tried it yet but I need to try on a silverware drawer as I live in a modular home and all the drawers are built cheap so I got some drawer slides and want to use the pocket joints to attach a new frame inside the cabinet. Thanks again.
Very helpful video. You touched a lot of bases, wow! I am a painter who believes in making every-thing by hand, if at all possible. The pocket holes are good not only for making the stretched canvas panels, but also the frames that they will live in. Thanks so much!
Love this! I was looking for information on joining lengths of wood to make a table! You answered my question and then some! Thanks for such an informative video. Matt's Wife, Alle
If you are doing detailed furniture making and want to do a table then you are probably going to use dovetail joints. Other wise there is no reason why you cannot make a table with pocket holes.
I have watched many of your video's and enjoy them Your straight forward explanations are to the point and very easy to understand Keep up the good work Thanks
I like your 90 degree board setup simple and very effective. A good tip people often neglect, hook up your shop VAC hose to it. I couldn't believe how much a difference it made drilling the holes. Since I did most of my projects outside. Instead of having to clear out the chips going up and down as in your demo, one push down like butter.
68jacen I forgot to talk about the dust extraction so thanks for mentioning this, I actually do use it when making multiple holes, but so noisey, I didn't want to connect it for this, then forgot it altogether ...
I just did 80 p-holes yesterday. I used a 10.8 Volt drill. No problem at all. Changed the battery twice, charging one while. I use the other one. I also use a simple Wolfcraft jig an dI build me a little jig with a toggle clamp. Worked like a charm.
WoodWorkWeb Of course, I hardly ever use hard-wood. It is so much harder (!) to get and also more expensive. Anyway, I never really buy any wood. Some pallets and furniture may get me some hard-wood. So, 80 pocket holes: soft wood, some kind of pine. (It was an old sauna door.)
GREAT video Colin. The project vid's are always fun to watch, but these beginner ones always give a tip that I can use. Keep doing what you are doing and thanks again. I use the Kreg system and they really are a great way to join wood. AND very user friendly.
Superb video, consise and extremely helpful. Thank you. I am going to be making a custom desk for my home recording studio, this technique will be perfect.
I love using these. just recently bought one for first time, and without a doubt my favorite tool. I can't see any downside to them. it's the fastest joint by far, strong enough for most applications, easy to perform, hidden in most cases, and if it's not you can plug the holes easily. Maybe others will disagree but I think it's the only joint you really need. I know other joints are more decorative, and in some cases stronger but for the average handy man I think the pocket hole is perfect.
I love your videos. Thank so much. I recently purchased a cheap corded drill just for drilling pocket holes. Always ready to go! Also, I have discovered that using a dust extractor speeds up the the drilling procedure because you no longer need to blow away shavings between each hole you drill. Just a little thing but if you are doing a batch it is worth while.
Dave Stott Yes, very good point on the dust extraction, I didn't use it because of the noise for this one ... then forgot to mention it, thanks for the great reminder :)
COLIN KNECHT, YOU'VE ALWAYS BEEN AN OUTSTANDING AND GENEROUS INFORMATION GIVER. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. PLEASE KEEP ON ...

Hello! Awesome video! Thank you for the picture frame idea.
Helpful information, thank you for sharing !!!
I thought they were weak joints but after watching your video I am pretty much confident now in making these joints. Thanks.
+Muhammad Ali Yes they are pretty stong, others are stronger but for many things pocket holes are just fine
