    Just bought an mr2 spyder, can't wait to do the 2zz swap. How much did the whole swap cost if you don't mind me asking?

      Congrats on your MR2! I paid $1200 for the motor wtith around 70k miles imported from Japan, about $2600 in Misc. parts from hoses, to engine mounts, MWR swap header, Top speed catted downpipe, HKS muffler, MWR cold air intake, lightweight pulleys, new clutch, alternator.... and other parts and sensors I changed afterwards that needed replacement. I also paid a tech where I work $1,500 to put it in so if you can do it your self you save money there. I also kept the factory 5 speed in it to save money.

      @@andresllano2348 Wow that’s not bad! But just curious, how is the 5-spd holding up so far? Isn’t it a must have to get the C60 6spd when doing the 2ZZ swap?

    • @andresllano2348
      @andresllano2348  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@theninethrees8044 5 speed is not bad at all, my only critique is 1st gear feels too short and shifting from 1st to 2nd the engine falls out of lift for a brief moment. All other gears are fine. I haven't driven a 6 speed so I'm not 100% sure what I'm missing. I just got an Apexi Power FC to get a tune and see if I can stay in lift 1st through second on the 5 speed.

    I can't decide? I can buy a 2zz swapped mr2 with MWR header and intake or a stock 1zz and I've driven the 2zz just short area so no lift but it has good low rpm torque I can imagine wow lift and I'm older don't track and would maybe lift 2 or 3 times a week no bouncing on redline but I keep reading the 2zz will fail and 1zz best option....opinion??

    • @andresllano2348
      @andresllano2348  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I hit lift every time I drive it and have put 30k miles on the swap over 3 years without problems. I can't help it. it's just too much fun! The 2zz is very reliable, I see Celica GT-S and Matrix XRS on marketplace with over 200k miles on them for sale in good running condition. The 1zz is know for premature failure due to the pre-cat failure, which happened on my car to the previous owner. I bought it with a blown 1zz so I can swap it. If you get a 2zz spyder, get the 6 speed transmission as it is better geared for the 2zz power band. I've had both the 5 speed and 6 speed, and I can tell you there is a significant difference between the 2.

      @@andresllano2348 thanks for replying helpful with decision and yes it's 6sp and I was surprised I've heard 2zz low rpms is a dog until 4k but my test drive showed punch in low rpms and great throttle response tranny a little loose but I'll buy MWR short shift and I think I'll dump the 15in Konigs and get some 16in Enkeis or at least lower profile tires

      I'm running Monkey Wrench Racing swap header and HKS muffler. I now have a Top speed CHE Downpipe with cat in the car and will be posting a sound video of the new set up. 2zz is the best bang for your buck in these cars. After lift engages it truly comes alive

      @andresllano2348  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@loganamurray64 Mine was the HKS muffler but I doubt the one for the MR2 matches your XRS. The HKS is very similar to the TRD muffler for my car so I would suggest trying a TRD replica for yours or something close to the TRD muffler design.

      @loganamurray64 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@andresllano2348 Eh I was just hoping I could get away with one of the universal ones lol. Im trying not to get the TRD one because from what I've heard it's decently restrictive and it's got a 2.25" inlet. Plus I already have an exhaust tip so I was planning on keeping that as well
