@ladislavlencucha , In this area, all these trees had large lateral roots so I just used the sawzall to eliminate large roots fast. My shovel gets plenty of use on a dig for sure. Thanks for the comment.
what time of the yr did you harvest this tree? I was told Feb.2nd is the best time to start. I live in S. Louisiana,this yr will be my 1st attempt at harvesting a cypress from the swamp. I currently have one in what used to be a goldfish pond out back,I'm waiting for the nebari to get just a hair bigger.It came from a nursery and with no nabari to speak of so it's been in the pond for almost 3 yrs now! I have all my supplies ready to go,CAN'T WAIT TILL THE DAY GET'S HERE! Thanks, David

Private property. You can't legally collect on public land. Yes, June's class is open as of today

Why not simply dig a hole around it and cut the roots with the saw only if necessary? :-)
