I recognize those Drum n Bass loops; they’re from a sample CD that came with the Boss SP202. I wish I would have gotten the SP808Ex instead of the MPC2000X back in the day.
@@daltontaylor988 The 2 major things that bugged me about the MPC2000xl was only having 2mb of RAM and no internal FX processor. Instead, you had to spend an additional $300 -$400 to use FX. Anytime I tried to install 16 or 32 MB memory expansions, the MPC would sometimes ignore it or the audio would glitch out. When I 1st got my MPC, I already had a Roland MC 307 for a about a year, so I should’ve just stuck with a familiar brand. However, the sequencer on the 307 was a little quarky and MPCs was top notch.
This was the best thing to come out of the undeniably 90s 'groovebox' line, and by quite a wide margin. The effects unit was killer and it had a really unique sound. A cool sampler, sequencer, multi tracker and even on board Synth were preset. It was great, but really odd. I always found it as confused mishmash of whatever Roland could fit into it, but it worked. It's biggest let down was the Zip drives and that bloody d-beam. An under appreciated bit of kit imho.
i remember desperately wanting one of these, they cost over a thousand, and the main thing hat held me back aside from price was the zip drive which was such a dumb ass horrible expensive storage which i was forced to use in multimedia.... just before the advent of the usb stick!

Bought myself one the other day and I'm just working out how it works now. I've only just got it out the box and it's my first sampler so I don't know shit about fuck at the minute. But I do know that when I go to sample anything, I press start, it displays the 'now sampling: Remain ...minutes' etc. But When I go to stop recording my sample, the button doesn't seem to stop the recording. The message stays on screen, and then I'm stuck on that sampling screen unless I turn the whole thing off, so I'm sort of unable to do anything. Anyone got a solution or had a similar thing happen? Cheers.

fUP420babe it was all lies, napster was already crashing the industry by then. which is why this machine didn’t get its kudos. this thing could make squarepusher and aphex tracks with so little effort, the splicing is particularly unique to this device (for the time) but once the money fell out of the scene, no one wanted to buy this high priced gear.

Why? I have an MPC and use it now, it’s great, the Roland SP808 EX is worth like 200-300 now, the MPC is still making beats everyone wants.

I agree completely. I wish I hadn't sold mine. The delay effects and d-beam pitch shifting were especially good.

You can use the synth without the zip but essential for sampling
