"Traveling the World as Locals with Jessica Gee from Bucket List Family" would have sufficed as a title. Leading with "Sitting on their Wealth" makes them sound like entitled, priviledged elites and that is *not* who they are.

Good for Jess for putting her foot down regarding Garrett wanting to homeschool the kids. Their children clearly love their school friendships and activities. Too many families who post their kids publicly online for profit homeschool for the convenience of having their "subjects" readily available for the vlogging camera. Jess wisely knew her own limitations in terms of juggling it all plus homeschooling. She was thinking of what was best for the children when she said "no" to Garrett's homeschooling idea.

Sitting on their wealth ? is a really ugly statement. If you have been watching them from the start then that is not a very good description at all. I have and they have organically grown into what they are now. I wish I had done what they had done. I worked for 10 years as a holiday rep. We only see the best parts and sometimes the bad parts. Like when they had their car broken into and luggage stolen. Dorothy was still a tiny little girl and she was heart broken. People will be envious of them but that is no reason to hate on them. It doesn't matter to me and their fans if they are wealthy or not but they do provide us with a look through them at countries I would not normally consider going to. However since their escapades in Africa. I have now been twice myself with my family. Jesse is a wonderful human being end of story.

That was SO sad!! Dorothy cried about her dresses and such. Broke my heart too!! The Gee's are exceptional parents and the kids are so cute, kind and so so smart!!

Great Interview! I've been a subscriber to Bucket Family for 3 years, never miss a video. My kids are in their 50's and I only have 1 Grandkid whom I don't see often. But even so as an arthritic 84 year old who can no longer travel I really appreciate these videos. The elephant in the room for me is that usually the Gee family stays in very expensive fancy digs. They can afford all kinds of private planes, fancy digs & very expensive get aways that most of us couldn't afford. They have a beautiful home on Maui and had it remodeled while they were away. So money is very helpful. Garrett is a fine videographer and so is Jess. I loved when Garrett and Manila got their heads shaved in Bhutan and when they include footage of the schools they visit and they play soccer with African tribal kids. They are religious people, but they are kind enough to keep religion out of their videos so those of us who are not religious can really enjoy them. Congrats. to Jess on her book and, Lizzy, your podcast is just great.

He sold the app for somewhere around $30 million. I hate that they play it off like they barely got by and they had to sell their belongings to travel.

I watch The Bucket List family probably every day. At least one video. Those kids are exceptional. Exceptionally nice, kind, loving besides being brave, intelligent, etc. And that's from Jess and Garrett bringing them up that way. We could all learn lessons from how they parent. Americans need to look at the children of the world as theirs. All children are everyone's children. The US is far from No. 1. And we have a long road to travel and make up for if we want to improve. And we need to make a hard left away from Authoritarianism first before we do anything!!
