Hi Dr Nourah! Thanks for the information, I have two questions. What do you think about taking the dental assistant programs in the US if you already are a dentist in your home country? I saw that many states in the US requires a certification of the US about dental assistant. Is that neccesary?
The second one, do you think that a dental clinic can be the sponsor for your work visa if you don't have one? Or you have to got it by your own if you want to work with them, is there a possibility to have a sponsor?
    thank you

      Hi @andreaerickatorricoguzman6685 ,
      1. Taking the dental assistant program in the US is a good idea if you want to start earning while preparing for your DDS admission. You will still need to get a employment authorization (EAD) secured through some means however if you're on visa. The dental assisting program will not guarantee an EAD. You will need basic certifications to work as a DA, RDA or EFDA, but a dental assisting program is only optional and based on your employer.
      2. Dental clinics can sponsor visas for personnel they employ. They however will only do so for jobs earning more than 100k USD (think - associate dentist or hygienist), not the other staff members. If you were applying to work as a dental assistant at either a general dentist's or specialist's practice, you can't expect visa sponsorship.

Hi Dr Nourah! In one of your videos you mentioned that you can also take continued education courses on edx ,would that add credit to your resume or count in you application for dental school?

Hi @Dr Annie, frankly, hands-on experiences are weighed more than free CEs but given a scenario of COVID, when no hands-on courses took place, the free CE gave an edge to many candidates. Having them mentioned will add credit to your CV during that period, for sure.
