The judge is giving instructions to ensure there is not a hung jury. Several items do not need agreed on by all jurors.

It's about weighing the proof against each charge. For you to say it's unconstitutional would mean pointing out in the constitution where it says anything about NOT comparing evidence to the crime. My understanding is that was exactly the point of a trial.

If I was on the jury, all the prosecutor would have to do is to admit that Cohen is not a good person but point out that you don't hire good people to do bad acts. If Cohen was a really great guy, he wouldn't have been working for Trump.

They pointed that out. They also pointed out that the other evidence and other witnesses pretty much supports the payment related information he gave so even if they disregard him, at least do give serious time to the other evidence available.

Stormy's testimony was about the fact that she was being paid to keep quiet and that there was something to keep quiet about. That's a no brainer. She gave more than enough details to establish that. The accusations are using campaign money to reimburse Cohen for paying her for her silence. That's not legal. Then he lied in the financial records about that pay off reimbursement being legal fees. It wasn't and lying about the finances is also illegal. If he had just paid her with his own money and been honest about it then nobody would have been the wiser and he'd not be in trouble now. It was taken up in NY because that's where the crimes were committed. That's usually how it goes unless they can prove a good reason to hold trials in another state or in a federal court. It would help if you just buckle down and listen to the prosecuting lawyers statements to get the idea and then pay attention to the transcripts to see how their presentation went.

Having been on jury service in the UK, I agree about weighing the evidence. We had four witnesses, two on each side. I felt they all lied! The defense were not telling the whole truth, but the prosecution actually told mistruths to cover up their incompetence. Needless to say the defendants were acquitted.

Oh, I would assume that there will be more pressure on this jury to reach a verdict, and avoid a mistrial, than in any other trial in recent history. And, given the evidence presented, that doesn't look good for Donald Trump, as far as the direction jurors would go in changing their opinions.
