The first time I smelled it off a tester strip I hated it ! Then one day I tried it on my skin and throughout the day I was intoxicated by this smell. Purely because it reminds me of home. @@SeldomlyOften yeah and that is what’s great about perfume and why you always have to test it before buying😊 I bought this in a 100ml and it’s in my weekly scent rotation 😎
Nice review. I recently purchased a 3.4oz of this. I think it’s absolutely fantastic. Super unique combination of opposites. I get a light airy oud and a prominent piney fir. I’d say a dark sweetness as well. I’d say the early opening is more aquatic than marine with a calone hit that fades over a few minutes. There’s a gin-like fizziness as well. I get a little church and airplane hangar in this too-take that as you will. I agree all-season. I saw someone say it smells like a luxury sauna. I agree w that too. I read that the 2017 version contained a carcinogenic compound, which was one reason for the shift I think in addition to what you mentioned re sales. Peace from nyc.
As an old guy, I can tell you it's very sophisticated and complex. It's very salty and fresh. Almost tart in a way. It is a solid performer, lasts all day. Not for Genz boys. My personal favorite... I think it will be a fortune when its discontinued.
This was an immediate love for me. I later realized that I'm not the biggest fan of marine fragrances, but this one hits a nice middle ground. It's definitely a marine scent that is balanced out with some deep woods and what I think is the fir balsam (since i'm not familiar with it but there's a unique note that stands out from the rest). A very pleasant wearing experience whenever I bring it out.
Great vid. Thx. Marine not really my thing, but wanted to push myself and get one for a trip I was taking to Nova Scotia.. After sampling a bunch was down to Oud Mineral and Amouage Lineage. Landed on a full bottle of the Lineage. Resonated a bit more with me and love it. Maybe my gateway to Marine scents!
@@luisespino4445 I agree, going easy and not owning the scent is not the way to wear it (obviously still ok if you are getting used to it). You need commitment and confidence to pull this off 😎
Honest review. I think on opening it smells of hot car breaks, salty ocean spray, and a wet musty basement. The dry down retains all that but a soft powdery aquatic note starts to come through.
This scent is criminally underrated and overlooked. I love the scent; reminds me of being in the FL keys or Big Sur beaches and cliffs in California. It lasts 6-8 hour’s easily, and I’ve been complimented the most for it. Agree TF atomizers are trash.
I love Oud Minérale! For some reason it calms me down. It has a soothing effect. It might be because i come from the west coast of Sweden. Cliffs, the ocean, islands and a weather that….let’s just say it often rains from the side. Throw in some sea gulls stealing your sandwich and pooping on your cashmere sweater and i’m home. Where i live now is just woods in every direction.
@@MarcelGomesPan well, I love the beach in winter, it’s a peaceful, lonely place. I can totally relate 👍 Living in Switzerland for years now, I miss the windy salty air very much.
As a hater of marine scents, this and acqua di sale are actually only marine fragrances i love. Those are level above megamare. Oud minerale is what tom ford used to be. Easily full retail worthy. Very unique, niche, challenging, all year round. Perfection in a bottle
Agree 100%, Oud Minerale is one of the best Tom Ford releases ever. Megamare is more experimental and designed to be provocative, not nearly as wearable.
To answer the first question: Yes! All started with TF Tobacco Oud, 9 months ago. I am currently 27 bottle's in with lots of variety of some designer and niche. Which 6 from Amouage, such a beautiful house.

The gateway drug 🤣 The opening always stuck with me on this one, really original. Always a pleasure Daniel!
It seems fairly common to see Tom Ford as “everyone’s first niche-ish”. Thanks as always 😉
I’m wearing this scent today, it opens very oud and then it gets more smooth! Lasting all day 12h+

I don’t get oud at all on my skin, maybe some tamer wood. Still love the scent
