People give Costa a lot of crap but, without bigger growers like them we wouldn't have affordable access to a lot of the plants we have today. Loved the video!
Why do people give them crap? I would assume because they're a large company & sell to big box stores? lol. People can be so ridiculous - Not everyone can afford to go to their local boutiquey plant shops! & I'm happy with my inexpensive angel plants 😊
@@largeautomobile People give them crap because Costa Farms sells for $20 what a lot sellers were listing for $300 previously. They try to say it's big business shutting down small business, but half of plant sales these days is straight up mafia tactics, controlling supply to increase demand. Not always but it happens a lot. I love that Costa Farms does what they do, making these plants affordable for everyone.
@@moominsean yeah but some of those other growers or stores price their plants so ridiculously high and they don’t even provide quality plants. I recently bought an alocasia from one of those boutique stores and the plant was TINY! And dead by the time it arrived to my house. They sent a replacement but it was even worse than the first one and it cost me $45 dollars. Then on a random day at Home Depot, I found Alocasia selling for $20!!!! And these were fully grown, lots of leaves, full plants!! The same with my fig tree, I found an 5 foot tree for $130 when other growers are selling for almost $400 !!! That’s insane. I’m sorry but now I buy all my plants from Costa Farms because they’re so affordable and their quality is amazing (well if you can get to the store before they sell out or die from lack of maintenance at the store)
@@moominsean Not only that, but they aren't selling white leaves for hundreds of bucks. Remember when he said that section of the plant was a parasite? All I could think of was how some Etsy/ Ebay seller would be auctioning that off for thousands! Not to mention, but the propagation of rare plants protects them in the wild. Now there will be no motive for people to steal them.
You are so lucky to get to go there!!! I can't believe how healthy and beautiful they are in their actual green house, you can see the pride they hold to make sure everything is shipped off in mint condition, makes me so sad they don't get the same care in the big box stores.
This is so interesting to see how these plants are grown. Gives me a new appreciation for the Costa plants that I see so often in the big box stores. So much care goes into them before arriving in retail. Thanks Ashley and Costa Farms!
I’ve bought 4 but they all died so I stopped messing with them. My grandmother has one that’s huge and she doesn’t even take care of it. I guess I could always get some from her instead of wasting more money if I want to try again.
These tours of Costa Farms are awesome. I just bought my first Costa plant at Walmart and didn’t realize until I got home and examined the wicking pot closer, that it didn’t have the wick. I emailed Costa and almost immediately heard back from them, requesting my address so they could mail me one. They also included plant tips. What an awesome company!!
I must say, I'm so excited that plants are back in style again, as they were in the 70s. Costa Farms, is doing a good job bringing rare plants to the general public too. This also protects the plants in the wild. People will not be motivated to steal plants if the public can by them cheaply!
This was one of the most riveting plant vids I've seen all year. Thank you so much! I work with one of Costa farms receiving stores and am SO excited for their trending tropical selections to hit our shelves!!! 😍
The Exotic Angel plants have a really long history. At one time, there were quite a few more hoya varieties in the line. I think Costa has paired down to the easier ones to grow which is fine. I would love to see a tour of the greenhouse where the siltepecanas and some of the other hoya varieties are growing (wayetii and that mauna loa compacta)! Costa continues to produce great and affordable plants. Thank you CF!
What an amazing tour and tour guide 😉 he's so knowledgeable and fun to listen to. Thank you for visiting Costa Farms and allowing them so show us how excellent of a product they produce 😊
They take such good care of the plants as they grow. I don't know about other places in the country but where I live in Montana, once they get to the big box stores, they are not taken care of. Unless you get a fresh shipment, they go down hill pretty fast. It makes me feel so sad for the plants. Thank you Costa Farms for such beautiful plants though....
I love seeing how all those plants are being grown, the infrastructure and maintenance are pretty impressive. A few miles from my hometown there is a cactus and succulents producing facility. It's really impressive as well. Love the video 💚💚
One of best videos ever!! Love exotic angel plants. Love how they offer the smaller, cheaper versions. Perfect for me since then i can get more an i love watching them get bigger! .... watching this def makes me appreciate where they come from an all their hard work!
So many exciting things! Love all the sneak peaks at the end. I found a “Baltic blue” back in august labeled as a tetrasperma so I feel kinda ahead of the trend that’s probably coming and that never happens 😂 I’m in love with the red on the carnosa compacta 😍
Every plant looks so good in their nursery. My local WalMart had that two-tones plants in last month; They didn't sale at all. I'm most excited about the last cebu-like-but-better plant. I hope they'll be out in 2022.
I'm a Floridian & so proud of Costa Farms! This was an exciting peek into what we can expect in the next 12 months. Looking forward to adding some colorful begonias into my home this fall 🪴🍁
So I just watch the video. Oh my gosh Ashley. How you walk through the green house and NOT take everyone of those beautiful plants 💚. My favorite is those beautiful begonians. I have started a collection of them. I just love them. This was an awesome video. Thank so much for sharing. You rock Ashley. 💚🌱🌿
O.M.G ALL WERE SO BREATHLESS FELL IN LOVE TO SEE NEW PLANTS COMING OUT LOVE IT ALL YOUR LUCKY TO BE IN PERSON N SEE IT ALL THANK YOU FOR SHAREING ❤🥰😍🤩❤🥰❤😍🥰
I got one of the varigated compacta baskets last year, and I love it. Converted it to leca and it's growing so nicely, but I'd give my soul for one of those mother plants. 😆
I was in Lowe’s and I found a Epipremnum Aureum Global Green. I was so excited when I found it! I also got a Monstera Siltepecena that was in a hanging basket. I put in a big planter outside and it’s so full really fast. It’s really cool.
When you said they're bringing the Thai Constellation to big box stores I had to stop the video and rewind it to hear it again because I thought I had made it up! When I heard it the second time, I squeed! Can't wait for that!!!!! Also, I've bought some of their exotic angels and I LOVE THEM! Last two were the Black Rabbit Foot fern and it's adorable, and my Manjula Pothos which is absolutely breathtaking! I can't stop looking at it! 😍😍😍😍
Thanks Costa Farm and you Ashley for your tour I am sure everyone over the world asking same but PLEASE PLEASE send more uncommon plants to Southwest Houston Texas big box stores. Of course looking forward and patiently waiting for the Thai Constellation to come to Houston. Bless Costa Farm
Worth the wait, loved seeing all those huge mother plants, so impressive! Maybe some of these plants will trickle up to our Canadian Lowe's 🤞🤞🤞.......Thanks Ashley for doing this for us 💚💚💚💚💚,caio bella!
I paid $20 for 3 cuttings of manjulia pothos this past spring in East coast Canada and she is breathtaking and her leaves get huge if given the best of care .. worth every penny !! I'd be in heaven if I ever got the chance to visit Costa Farms Green House so amazing to just watch others tours 😍💚 The way mike talks about plants is amazing!!
Oh my heart be still those begonias were sooo Gorgeous!! What I wouldn't give to grow that beautiful red really rare Begonia or the one after it the dark green with pink freckles I literally gasped when I seen them 😍😍😍💚💚💚@CostaFarms
These are the kind of videos that I just die for I love them so much thank you thank you thank you … Now I wanna go plant shopping and it’s almost winter thank you for the video that was great
Ashley another wonderful video you teaches the plant family so much I appreciate you for that you are a good teacher this Costa Farm is amazing all of wonderful class and they still not fully grown yet I can't wait until it brings some to the big Box store💚💚💚💚🌱🙂🙂🙂😊😊😊🌱🪴🪴🪴🪴
I saw those black Peperomia plants last week at Lowe's and was so shocked because I'd never seen them before! So cool to see them showed here, now I regret not grabbing one, everyone will want one 😂
This is by far one of my fav vid to watch, love the inside look on how the mass production of such high standard of indoor plants. What was also great was the guy who gave the tour he was so passionate about his job. Wish they had divisions in Australia!
It's a wonderful plant farm.Ivy, Golden Photos, Monstera, Maranta, Vegonia, Hoya... You introduced a farm that grows a variety of plants well. Thank you for the video.^^
When you stop and see and hear about everything thing that goes into getting a plant ready for buyers, it is amazing that we only pay about $20 for one of their plants!
I used to love watching these videos or big box shop videos when I first started collecting plants. But I get super sad now and just don’t. A lot of the plants are not available in the area that I live. Although I am happy for everyone’s luck. I just wish costa farms sent out everything to everyone.
Plant you tuber posted video a couple of days ago shopping at Lowe’s (Rockville and Washington, NC) - they had the Costa Farms red and green begonia for under $20.00.

I always wonder who is actually buying all the Ivy …lol.
Lol me too. I've seen 1 pretty 1 I might buy in theory only. The spider mite stories stop me everytime.
I’ve bought 4 but they all died so I stopped messing with them. My grandmother has one that’s huge and she doesn’t even take care of it. I guess I could always get some from her instead of wasting more money if I want to try again.
They're used in a lot of funeral arrangements
I had a huge gorgeous 3+ year old one, but then the ants moved in... I have never felt so much grief over a plant. never again...
🤣🤣 same, I wish they would just get rid of em and dedicate more space to Hoyas. They know what the people want.

Thank you so much Ashley Anita for taking the effort to show us all these beautiful plantours @ CostasFarms.
