Makaroification Yes there is, if they're bad. Like The Order: 1886. Or really, many Triple A titles that put focus on story over gameplay, and the gameplay is rather standard and the story is subpar (Ubisoft games now).

The behind the scenes drama that went on and simillar such things hindered dev time etc. The Last of Us is very 'cinematic' and its great because of it, not in spite of it. Being cinematic is not what harms a game... Bad or disfunctional devs/execs do
Makaroification The Order's flaws were because the devs clearly wanted to make a movie instead of a game (along with a series to make bank), and it's still bad. Uncharted would have made more sense to use as an example from Naughty Dog, and I love those games. But, they still want to be crazy games and have fun, and were the ones who made the whole "cinematic" thing popular. And how about every David Cage game ever? No one takes them seriously. Metal Gear is an interesting case, as the cutscenes were the ones that wanted to be cinematic, and the gameplay clearly wants to be a game. That series hit a sweet spot early in the Solid series, but it went overboard with Solid 4, where it was more movie than game, and then V came out being more game than movie, and said game being disappointing. Point being, James and Nick are the type of audience who eat up the "cinematic" BS that publishers use to excuse their games being 30fps, or too cutscene heavy... or lame.
Guypersonmanthing3 Never forget that a game's quality is primarily down to "Did I enjoy it? and how much did I enjoy it?" Who cares how 'good' a game is if you don;t have fun playing it. I enjoyed my (brief) time with The Order however I've never been able to force myself to enjoy MGS. On the base of it, MGS games are better than the Order. But why should I care about that when I far preferred playing the Order?
