    Thanks a lot... 3years old but still pretty impactful. I got a 15 pager due in 2days and i haven't done anything. prolly coz it's my first ever. The video did calm me and straight up just explained what i need to do. I ain't gonna try to do all a once thanks to this.

      You're welcome--and thanks for taking the time to comment. 15 pages feels like a lot, but it just takes space to explain your thinking thoroughly. Before you know it, you'll be working to cut it down to 15 😆

    I have a 40-page research paper to write due in 2 months and your video is very helpful as I try to come up with a good topic.

    From newbie to actually getting your idea on a paper in a manageable way. So good!
    Also, the humor and the jokes amid the video makes it more fun to watch.
    Fun fact; It took me 3hrs or thereabout to finish watching... And it was woth it all the way.

    Thank you for this insightful video! This is not my first time writing a research paper, but every time I try to start one, I always end up being lost in a rabbit hole. Now I know what I have to do!

    Thanks! I have a 15 page research paper to do. I think I am scared it will not make sense. It sounds funny but that's the reason I haven't even started.
    I sometimes feel I don't have what it takes to write academically. And all those references and citations even annoy and confuse me more.
    Your farmer's market example was good though.
    Thanks.

    I’m wondering how much time do you invest in each step…
    And how do you assure the so called “originality” of your papers/topics…

    • @WritingwithAndrew
      @WritingwithAndrew  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great questions! Timing usually depends on the project, but I'd say research and planning usually take up the most time in academic projects. For creative writing, revising probably gets the most investment. As for ensuring originality, it comes with research: when you have a good handle on what other people have written about a topic, then you can have an easier time saying something new (and even a slight, meaningful modification of something that was said before can be worthwhile)

      @@WritingwithAndrew I’m not sure if you have the time to have this conversation, but I am going to continue with my inquiries and if you can/want to answer, I will be more than happy.
      Because I am interested in specifics, what time would you think might be necessary for a 5000-6000 words research paper. (British Literature/research/outline/final paper)
      And what do you do if while you read the novel you get this great idea and when you start researching you actually realise that someone else has already written it…
      Plus, how much research is enough research, or how not to get lost in research and never actually get to the actual writing…
      What about note taking? How to take notes while reading so that you might use them for other papers as well?

    • @WritingwithAndrew
      @WritingwithAndrew  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@aurelmuresan9886 I think your more general questions about research/note taking would be great video topics that could help a lot of people, so I think I'll ponder those and hold off on answering for now if that's okay. But, for the more specific questions about your project now: I'd say take as much time as you can (assuming you have a deadline). I would probably do some reading and research early on and then spend a few days thinking it over and formulating a plan for the paper. With a good foundation, writing will go much faster. And, if someone has already written about something very similar, that's okay: try to find a way to put a spin on your version. Build on their idea in some way--challenging it, applying it to a new context, combining it with a new perspective/theory, etc. Your idea doesn't have to be dramatically different, but it should add something new to the conversation

      @@WritingwithAndrew Thank you very much for your answer.
      I don’t mind, as I’ve subscribed to your channel, so I’ll get my answer anyway.
      Yes, the problem is the deadline and the fact that I don’t want to leave the writing for the last minute… So, if my deadline is the end of July, I’ll probably be reading the first two weeks and then start with the writing part.
