    This song is proof positive that lyrics aren't always important. Good beat and catchy riffs can make a hit. Love this song.

      I can relate to these lyrics. They hold great meaning. You may connect with them subliminally

    • @thomaskendrick6766
      @thomaskendrick6766 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@fornife5004 nothing subliminal needed. Culture Club released Karma Chameleon one year before this song. Boy George was reported to swing both ways...not black and white. The ambiguousness was seen as running away from defining yourself. Hiding, but in public view, The Sun is a tabloid magazine in the UK that featured Boy George often in 1983-84.
      Edit to add: Slade was throwing shade 🤣

    My mom had me quite late in life and as you might expect, she didn't care for a lot of the music and other things I was into as an adolescent. She always had a soft spot for Slade and this song though and would come into the living room to watch the video whenever it came on MTV. Love you and miss you Mom- RIP 5/1/17

    One of their greatest strengths was that they never took themselves too seriously. That and they rocked like hell.

  • @RonBrunk

    I'll never forget the first time I heard the Slade "Slayed" album in 1973. Changed me. These guys were pure, unbridled, untamed, chaotic, tongue-in-cheek, kickass rockers. They knew how to tear it open and didn't care what anybody thought. Sure do miss that kind of passion and fury in music these politically-correct, auto-tuned, air-brushed days.

      Maybe try looking for music instead of top 10 radio hits. And sorry but...where is the fury in this? lol It's a catchy top 10 hit with nonsense lyrics. Back when it came out I'm sure people said the same about it as you are saying about modern music.

    Indeed. Wife and I had our honeymoon in Ireland and Scotland, but we were only in Scotland for a couple days and it wasn't nearly long enough. We're planning another trip there this year for a week this time. Oh, and bagpipes rule. When their soldiers return, they give them a truly proper welcome with pipes and drums. Goosebumps every time I watch one of those videos.

    Lata upływają, a muzyka Slade wciąż napełnia radością.....
Nadal aż kipi energią i porywa do tańca !
    Życzę wszystkim takiego zasobu radości - na przekór wszelakim problemom !

    Slade owes an old Scottish Hymn for the Tune. The hymn is called "There is a Happy Land (Far, Far Away.)" The Hymn featured prominently on the 1944 black and white version of Arsenic and Old lace starring Cary Grant and Peter Lorre. When I watched the movie and first heard and recognized the hymn, I about fell out of my chair because I was so familiar with the song by Slade.
    It was a great song and it is fun to listen to.

    Fun fact, the CIA and military couldn't use this song for psychological warfare. It actually had a positive effect on test subjects feeling rejuvenated and happier, even after being subjected to it repeatedly for hours. So now they just play Nirvana. Lol
