Solid analysis. I was noticing that Vandy's scheme was really quite genius, as they were exploiting the keys and habits of the conflict defenders. They've been trained to read and react, and Vandy was sending dudes with purpose across the face to seal off blocks during that reading period. Running the football is about want to, and the Commodores damn sure wanted to. I told my buddy at halftime that Bama should line up defensively in the old Buddy-Ryan-era Bear front and force their best to beat our best on the outside 1-on-1 every play. We should've forced Pavia to win the game, instead of allowing him to be comfortable and throw when he wanted to.
But the issue is if the defense never practiced it then they would get exploited based on poor execution. It all leads back to preparation and coaching
Lmao🤣. That’s all they run, brooks has confirmed for me which is helpful. They either press with Cover 1 Robber, Cover 1 Double Mug, Blitzing the linebackers, or blitzing the Nickel. All in a 1 Shell, so the winners are your zigs, slants, hitches, drags, those kind of routes. Vandy showed how to attack this aggressive defense

If I can predict what Bama’s doing on D - I can guaran-damn-t the opposing OC can! This game should be an eye opener for the individual players, unit as a whole & the entire defensive coaching staff! Hats off to Vandy for their game plan, execution & seemingly just wanting it more!!! RTR!!! Should be a fun rest of the season..!
As an alabama fan I just wanted to say this was the video i've been looking for. Perfectly broke it down and made it easily understandable to see what went wrong and why it went wrong. Exceptional video.
I've learned more about football from this channel than anywhere! Thank you. I realized during this game that Jerry Kill is an analyst for Vandy this year. He was the coach who turned Minnesota around. He also coached Pavia at New Mexico State last year. The man can coach. When you said Vandy out-schemed Bama, I put most of that on Jerry. You always ask he best "football" questions during the Georgia pressers.
Man its so important to have a dual threat QB or at least a QB that can consistently hurt the defense with his legs nowadays. Makes everything so much easier for the offense
Really appreciate your break downs. Every week I look forward to your videos. Appreciate the quality and the passion. Bama fan here and I’ve been subscribed for about 2 years. Keep ‘em coming!
Your breakdown of this game actually makes the issues with Alabama's defense even more glaring. It also highlights how down for down, man for man, Vandy just wanted the win more.
It’s about damn time yall start getting fed up. It only took becoming recognized nationally as the program for arrests and other off the field issues for it to be a problem
Great job of analyzing Bama’s telegraph defense. I thought Bama’s defensive game plan was pretty vanilla, but I didn’t know it was completely stagnant. As much as I wanted to blame the defense for lack of intensity, it’s clear they were not coached up and schemed up for this offense. Coaches must own this and fix it immediately or it will be a long season. That game proved tactics with good players beats poor coaching schemes with great players.
So I went back and looked at their scores, I know simple analysis, but they've been in four 1 score games, two decided in overtime, and one blow out which they won against an FCS team. I get the feeling the only one they're badly kicking themselves over is Georgia State at Georgia State, though I bet they also can't believe they let a field goal get blocked in overtime against Mizzou. They seem like they're prepared every week at least so far and they've got quite the player at QB. If any more teams don't take them seriously and show up with this bad of preparation they're probably not going to like it, and even if you do prepare for knock out drag out, they'll probably still be there in the 4th with a chance if you haven't executed to as close to perfection as you can get and given them something harder to chew on in 3rd and long than cover 1 robber with a fiddle on the back from a double mug look almost all day. Not a bad coverage, but you need something that can function as a change up. Also, constantly showing them lined up for a blitz but almost never sending it is some too clever by half hokey bullshit.
Theres a good chance you get to break down more vandy tape later this year. Theres a certain team that had the opportunity to pick up Pavia after getting dragged up and down their home field by him last year that hosts Vandy.
If we are going to give credit where due then we need to give it to whoever was responsible for evaluating Diego Pavia as the choice for the 2024 system Vanderbilt planned for.
Malachi Moore said today that the calls were coming in really late which caused a lot of anxiety. That’s why some of the stunts seemed to be busted and the players looked confused. Just a huge coaching failure by Kane Wommack.
Damn! Moore, the belligerent player, calls out and throws the coaching staff under the bus after they covered for him on his stupid end of the game antics.... wow.... that's rich.

Dudes a gamer and has a future. He’s punching above his weight class and winning. Get him on a team with elite talent up front and playmakers on the outside and he would torch anyone
I never thought I'd see a day when Bama would be a Big 12 defense. 2nd Qtr against Georgia I thought was purely the QB just throwing, I believe the Georgia OC saw what the Vandy OC (and Jerry Kill) saw and attacked it. To beat Bama, keep the O off the field and chew the clock. Bama scored 35 points in 14 mins, if Bama had the usual 30 mins, it would have been closer to 70 points. Wommack needs to adjust and disguise his D better.
With how well Wommack made sure those boys were ready for UGA, it is amazing how poorly this team was prepared for Vandy. Dont want to be that guy calling for heads but it is inexcusable what happened on Saturday. RTR
It's called a letdown after a big win...happens all the time. And btw there's a reason why Bama blew a 30-7 lead. Once UGA stopped shooting themselves in the foot, Bama's defense started to get their butts kicked.
UGA showed up to Bama with too much confidence, got rocked quick, got them off their game til halftime when Kirby probably reminded them that defense is exactly what they had practiced for, and they came back, and were nearly unstoppable the whole second half. I'm a Bama fan, and been saying exactly what this video is showing since the moment that Vandy game ended. Wisconsin exposed the weakness in the beginning of their game til the starting QB got hurt. Kirby took notes on how the defense gave the same look 95% of every game, and then showed vandy and the rest of the SEC what the cheat code was. This is 100% on Kane Womack for running the same predictable defense game after game...not sure how he could even make it to DC position anywhere if he believes thats ever gonna work for a whole season.
Bama HAS to have a 4-4 package with Jefferson on the field or a true heavy 7/8 man box scheme they can go to for run stopping... rotating safeties down out of this 3-3-5 is too light and not getting it done...
@@TheFilmGuyNetwork They can get me as D coordinator for 1/2 of Kane's salary LOL. Gotta stop the run by whatever means necessary and you have the personnel to do it. Too much Pride in his philosophy maybe?

Bama playing from behind all day and didn't adjust. If Bama gets 2-3 stops the narrative is totally different BUT them getting beat like this is probably a good thing to try and fix those vulnerabilities. We will see if their DC is actually worth a damn or in over his head
As a bama fan hire this man in the film room or something! Kane wommacks scheme scares me. And not in a good way. I know he has to see the same things!
Looking at the Top 20 Defensive Coordinators in College Football. If DeBoer wanted to make a DC change at the end of the season, I don’t see anyone that would take the Bama job.
any of the top 20 defensive coordinators in college football are laughing at Kane Womack for trying to run the same predictable scheme every game. Guaranteed all of them probably feel they could have called a better game than he did, and would gladly love the chance to come in and try all their ideas with the level of talent Bama has. Guaranteed Bama would be better too...can't blame the players for looking lost at times when they're doing what they're told to do, and nothing is working.
I knew we didn’t play on defense the same way we played GA. There was no switching of coverages, no blitzes, no simulated pressures; all we ran was cover 1 robber. We looked very unprepared in a lot of spots where we should’ve got off the field. We’re going to be fine for the remainder of the season. It’s clear that we underestimated the Vandy team and came in with a very simple game plan with basic preparation when Vandy had 2 weeks to prepare for us. Gotta do better on the coaching.
Did you even watch this video? He says Vandy OC noticed (not hard) that Bama ran 95% man robber against UGA. And they did the same thing against Vandy.
@@bama-tide-saban2746 Yep, Womack been bringing that same stuff all season...look at the first part of Wisconsin, their QB ran all over the defense til he got hurt. Their offense with the backup just couldn't execute as well because the backup just didnt get as many looks in practice as the starter. Rest of the SEC has the cheat code now if Womack don't make wholesale changes. GA just came in over-confident and complacent.. Once Kirby calmed them down, reminded them that they were facing the same defense they had practiced for, they were almost unstoppable except for that one lucky interception. They would have won if not for that.
Bunch of poor effort on tackling. Vandy wanted the win, Bama acted like playing football was an inconvenience to a baby shower they’d rather be at!! Pathetic
Enjoyed it man but when you’re breaking it down I can count multiple holds/blockin in the back that they get away. No I’m not blaming it on the refs but it’s true
I think you're reaching brother. There's no bias here. In fact, I point out an aggregious hold that's missed on the goaline. There's no bias here. As much as you are looking for it. Just ball talk.
There were several calls (and no calls) that went Vandy's way. It's just a matter of if, or how, it effected the outcome of the game or not. With how predictable the defense played anyway, it's hard to say that it effected the outcome. The jury of popular opinion won't sympathize with the more loaded roster.
@@TheFilmGuyNetwork def not reaching just stating what I saw. If you read my other comment you’ll see that I said they straight beat us. Outplayed us better gameplan they just wanted it more. @@matthewpirkel2922 crying lol? Move on. Ppl like you only read into what you want to read into. I know it sucks your team loses to Bama every year but you need to worry about your team kid
Do you mean Vandy D vs the Bama offense? From my recall, both Offenses won overall, but the Vandy total gameplan was better and affected both sides of Alabama.
@@JarrenBlake they did overall but brooks has alluded to bama being too explosive not grinding clock and putting the defense back out on the field too soon.
@DSGB2199 i get that to some extent. But I tend to agree with Deboar on this one. If vandy is restricting possessions then the Offense wants to create them. The defense was getting gashed from jump. It was not a rest issue from what I saw there and here.
@@DSGB2199 Understandable as it is not a common line of thought but I agreed with the coach on this one. Basically how many drives was Bama going to get in a 60 minute contest? If they added time to their drives, are they taking time from Vandy or taking time away from themselves in a game that they are trailing? If they score 1 time in 6 minutes and then allow Vandy another 7-9 minute drive they have potential allowed themselves only 1 drive this quarter as compared to 2. The thought that if we take longer the Defense can rest and play better. Well, the start of the game says that is not necessarily the case. They were rested in Q1. They were rested for the second Vandy drive as there was a pick 6 followed by a scoring possession for Bama. And Vandy still drove the field on them. Bama had 4 drives (excluding the end of 1st kneel down) that did not end in a touchdown. 2 were due to turnovers. The PI tip drill on the 1st possession and the fumble late in the game. Only 2 drives ended in a punt. The first half punt was 3 plays all pass. The second half punt was 3 plays with a run play on 1st. Both were negative yards due to sacks/penalties. so not sure turning successful TD drives into longer drives get us much save for more chances to have a penalty, sack, or TO. Also, for me, the run game was just not there. you had 2 good runs and then duds. Jam Miller was 5 carries for 45 yard with a long of 32 yards. That means 4 other carries went for 13 total yards. Justice was 6 for 23 with a long of 13. So 5 carries for 10 yards.
I will eat my shorts if someone can prove to me that roughing the passer was the correct call at 27:26. Slow-mo makes everything look worse than it really is and it still looks insignificant. Que did everything possible to not punish the QB. I don't even think that gets called if it's Patrick Mahomes at QB with a game on the line.
Already watched the game a few times. I’ll watch your film study but it’s not rocket science what Vandy was doing. It is mind boggling how wommack didn’t have them boys prepared. He’s gotta go
I know you donalot of content and probably moving on from last week, what woukd you do differently as dc? I know theres a better plan. Players obviously have to play much better

But what does Bama do now that the formula has been released? Do they get conservative in coverage? Do they stick with Plan A? I don’t know enough about Bama’s new DC to say for sure. I would be worried about some of the offenses on the schedule if I was a Bama fan
@@mgway4661 I agree, I don’t know but we all see what Bama likes to do lol. it’s rush 4, drop 2 (one on the rb, the other roaming), 1 high safety, and the corners playing press/man. 42:50 mark shows Moore getting beating deep but he wanna act up smh
Co-Ed Vandy. Make sure to qualify that.
#CBN (certified ball knower)
I absolutely believe a Nick Saban coached Alabama plays much better assignment football against Vandy’s option attack.
Do the Miami vs Cal game.
Bunch of poor effort on tackling. Vandy wanted the win, Bama acted like playing football was an inconvenience to a baby shower they’d rather be at!! Pathetic
no 16 from vandy went to my school
A lot of holding going on by Vandy but they still whopped that butt . ..
The jury of popular opinion won't sympathize with the more loaded roster.
hahaha, gold hearing bama people crying about holds.....against vandy. Pure Gold!
@@TheFilmGuyNetwork def not reaching just stating what I saw. If you read my other comment you’ll see that I said they straight beat us. Outplayed us better gameplan they just wanted it more. Bama thought they’d roll over Vandy. You’d think after the 2nd half of the uga game they might be prepared bc they got smacked in the mouth in that game as well.
@@matthewpirkel2922 crying lol? Move on. Ppl like you only read into what you want to read into. I know it sucks your team loses to Bama every year but you need to worry about your team kid
The film breakdown at 11:35 of this video - horrendous defense.
That play on the sideline at the 1 is not a first down…very healthy spot. Ball dead where it crosses out of bounds…
A needed distraction 😅
Brooks lets see how defense held it down, thats almost more shocking to me, or did the too explosive come back to haunt them?
Do you mean Vandy D vs the Bama offense? From my recall, both Offenses won overall, but the Vandy total gameplan was better and affected both sides of Alabama.
@@JarrenBlake they did overall but brooks has alluded to bama being too explosive not grinding clock and putting the defense back out on the field too soon.
@DSGB2199 i get that to some extent. But I tend to agree with Deboar on this one. If vandy is restricting possessions then the Offense wants to create them. The defense was getting gashed from jump. It was not a rest issue from what I saw there and here.
@@JarrenBlake only defense can create possessions not sure i folkow
Coud not believe it when they showed the replay. Between that and the jersey number fiasco I was about ready to put a hole through my TV
Great breakdown of a shit game by Bama. Still disgusted by that gameplan. Womack stole his paycheck this week.
Not unfortunate hands to the face, Bama has gotten very dirty. They think they are The U.
38:42 39:54 Vandy wanted it more. After these 2 3rd & longs Bama was cooked.
So Bama got out coached & out played by Vandy.
7:45 how many times has scheme beaten Alabama in the last 15 years…
Pronounced like pawveeyuh big dawg
WAS NOT looking forward to this and DID NOT want to watch… but here I am.. glutton for punishment 😢
Wear it haha
Expose my usc Trojans please we 15 misses tackles wtf is Riley doing 😂😂
Ole Womack is a true novice
I loved that 4th and 1 Touchdown pass. Thats when I knew Bama was done
Already watched the game a few times. I’ll watch your film study but it’s not rocket science what Vandy was doing. It is mind boggling how wommack didn’t have them boys prepared. He’s gotta go
"It's not rocket science" LMAO oh ok
@@rob97dani oh another auburn fan. How’s it feel to have 4 losses
I know you donalot of content and probably moving on from last week, what woukd you do differently as dc? I know theres a better plan. Players obviously have to play much better
Did Vandy just run the Michigan offense plan from last year?
Considering Bama has a completely new staff and defense scheme, I would say no...
@@2-4Troy mostly just rhetorical due to the loss but saw some similar things
32:10 on your video Moore is being held, not crying, ALA got smashed but just saying . . .
Can Georgia get a BLACKOUT game?
Yeah they tried that on bama before, it didn't go too well😂

I don’t care what anyone says, Pavia did not get that first down where he stretched the ball out. He was a yard short.
There were several calls that went Vandy's way in this game. The zebras had the playing field leveled, even though Vandy was doing good enough without it.
The yellow marker was not on the same line as the actual first down marker
@@danielcain2516 he still didn’t get anywhere near it
@@arubial1229 who cares Bama is ass
250 views in 26min.. kinda falling off ain't we Brooks? Haha. Like the video ya Bama bums! Next off-season please just do film studies. I LOVE THIS SHIT!!
Vandy just gave the blueprint on how to attack what I would call an EXTRA AGGRESSIVE defense in Alabama
So the only thing I can say is they gotta show different things. Bama can’t just sit in their Cover 1 Robber look the whole game
Would you expect Bama and DC to continue running the same scheme after getting exposed?
