My husband isn't one who pays much attention to music - he just lets it wash over him while he's doing something else. This one stopped him in his tracks.
Wow ! Literally just listened to this demo of one of my very favourite Nick songs for the first time, it stopped me in my tracks and once again, reinforced what a fragile genius he was. We love you Nick ❤️
So beautifully haunting. Every time I listen to this it evokes images of sinister Cathedral bells in an abandoned city with people lurking in shadows. There's something in his playing.
Exactly! I often imagine it like driving down a country road at sundown and watching the trees cast their shadows larger and larger until all that's left is darkness.
Whoa man I’ve never heard this version, I’m struck with the same sadness as the first time I heard it last summer at 4 in the morning after the fire works, just sitting all alone in the kitchen with 1 light on just hearing the trials of the people there. Really makes you feel like the parasite
This is Radiohead, this is Post-rock this is so much ahead of it's time. Nick was a genius, he was a loser in the game of the music industry at his time, and a genius nontheless.
both versions are good, but yeah this seems so real kind of like Syd Barrett not taking out his false starts in his first album which gives it a more fragile and human sound.
Amazing....I found this by a link from Radiohead Subterranean Alien. Someone asked about time signatures- If I were playing this and tapped my foot I'd count it in 6/8 and tap twice per measure.

a soul who was too fragile for this cold world
A delicate voice a delicate guitar a delicate soul who wasn’t long for this world.
Sleep well brother. And dream.
my favorite song of all time. I believe that it could speak to generations a 1000 years from now.
His soul Is showing
Incredible music...such an incredible magical artist. Miss you Nick Drake!

So so beautiful. Nick clearly wasn't from this earth and sadly he didn't stay with us long.
