- The first thing that strikes you about Freddie Highmore is his accent. It’s British, very much so. But nailing the American accent - and quirky personality - of autistic surgeon Shaun Murphy was a pushover for Freddie. Not only has he been acting since he was 10, he’s also an accomplished linguist. Always something of a nerd, Freddie took time out from acting to study Arabic and Spanish at the UK’s prestigious Cambridge University. As Alex Cullen reports, Freddie’s now back at work as The Good Doctor - a role that has special meaning for him.

Oh you have to. I just got done binge watching it and sad when it ended! I didn’t even know he was on The Good Dr until I saw a commercial on in background while watching Bates.

I started watching Bates Motel while waiting for a new episode of The Good Doctor S4 and ended up binging 💙 I watched all the 5 seasons in less than 3 weeks. It's brilliant, marvelous and fantastic!
I'm glad he made a successful transition from being a child actor. I remember him as Charlie in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

@Sharon Jensen Maybe they didn't WANT to "transition" as you say. There are lots of people who do a movie or tv show and don't continue with it. It's not for everyone. Maybe they didn't like it. You make it sound like just because we may not know their names that means they were failures in some way. You know nothing about them. They could be very happy and successful doing things they love.

i live in australia, and the show that this was on, sunday night, is an hour and a half every saturday ( no just kidding, its on sundays!! ) and this part/interveiw was fifteen minutes the first part was about men going to indonesia to get a wife ( yeah idk either...?? )

August rush is such a underrated movie.
I don't know about that. It was so corny. And so unrealistic - like how they just took her kid without even talking to her, regardless of her "signature". That would never happen. And I hardly think Julliard would take the kid as a student with absolutely no information about him. BUT, in spite of all that, I admit...I liked it. But not over rated (in my opinion)

I had no idea that Freddie is British until watching a recent interview. Such an amazing actor. Having his youth on his side, his career has only begun.Very humble, extremely gifted actor...he is certainly going far. I hope The Good Doctor does well. Great show. Me too. Just got done binge watching it and was bummed out that it was over!
So far I've cried through 5 episodes. I had seen the prompt for this show on my 'hulu' for the longest time but just never watched it. For some reason I started watching it today and, as I said, I've cried through 5 episodes. Freddie Highmore...I think the world is a happier place with him in it. To be able to bring such a character to life with equal parts of childlike simplicity and painful complexity..I can't even begin to imagine what that must be like. Now I'm going back and watch some more. I'll probably keep crying but it's worth the risk.
Same here. I had the first episode saved on My list on Amazon Prime for so long. I don't know what I was waiting for. Maybe for the right time 💙

Freddie is gorgeous. I have loved him since Two Brothers and will love him and support him in films forever. I would also love to be his wife someday but I know that's a stretch so supporting him in any way possible is what I'm going to do for now ❤️❤️❤️ I also super appreciate that he doesn't use social media. I love that in fact. Freddie Highmore must be one of a very minute amount of people who is actually living a happy life cause everyone on social media just seem to be at war with each other. Its just feud after feud after feud.

I love Shawn's honesty and his stubbornness when he fight about his patients or his friends. He has a good heart. I love this TV show for what we learn about autistic people and how to be tolerant to people who are different than we are. I can't wait for season 3!

@@weasley2o13 - Most Aussies are descended from Prisoners from Great Britain, not counting aborigines and immigrants, so their accent is a spinoff from the British accent.
tomaf not really, they sound very different, your typical outback Aus is very, how does one say, rustic, if you get what I mean, it's very bouncy. however innercity auzzies probably could sound like brits, just a bit deeper in pitch with different sounding verbs

I’ve had over 15 surgeries. Every time I’m rolled into the OR I’m expecting an operating room like the ones on Grey’s Anatomy, this show, and other medical shows. I’m always disappointed. Lol.
