About the group:
Johanne Morissette Daug Amon-Lamar (/mɒrɪˈsɛt/ MORR-ih-SET; born June 2, 1996), known professionally as Morissette and frequently also referred to as Morissette Amon, is a Filipina singer, songwriter, producer and former actress. She first rose to prominence when she was the runner-up on TV5's Star Factor at the age of 14. In 2012, she made her professional stage debut in the Repertory Philippines stage adaptation of Disney's Camp Rock in the role of Mitchie Torres. She competed in the first season of ABS-CBN's The Voice of the Philippines in 2013, where she became part of Sarah Geronimo's team. She became a recording artist of Star Music in early 2014 and released her first album, titled Morissette, in March 2015. In 2017 she was called "The Next Big Diva".
Morissette's vocal type is a lyric soprano with five octaves and four notes (G♯2 - C6 - D8), making her the singer that has the widest known vocal range in the Philippines

I’ve been watching Mori RVs for about 4 years now & while I never doubted her sheer talent, for some reason it was only when you talked about her being an “interesting artist” that it clicked in my head just how intelligent she actually is. 13:50 As I replay her performances in my head, it makes so much sense now to say that it’s not her belts, growls or whistles that sets her apart, but her intelligence & her “intentionality”.

I agree with your comments, Morissette makes artistic choices in her performances that make them interesting, mesmerizing and captivating. She uses contrasts, she goes full blast, then backs down, before going full blast again, and finishes with a fall off, either a soft note (like in "Never Enough" Wish Bus version)or a humming (like here in "Rise Up), or sometimes in a grand fashion (like in the "Bruno Mars Evolution Medley", and in the David Foster and Friends concert performances). Then she adds her growls and squeaks as embellishments, to convey the emotions. But she's not overdoing them, rather she's doing them to enhance the message she's delivering, she is a masterful story-teller, through her voice as well as her gestures, as you have noticed here.🥰
You want some more uplifting and inspiring songs from Morissette? I recommend her originally written song "Phoenix". 🥰

on runs and #morissette, I agree. I say that after seeing a superfamous singer doing so many runs, to the point I had no idea what the song was about. Great voice, and a great song, but the performance was about runs.
And probably you don't know how sick she was there. If you pay attention you'll hear that her tract was clodded in her inhales. Still, she so nailed this song as per usual.

Best comment. Morissette is way underrated. She's a better singer by far than most bigger artists like Britney Spears, Madonna, JLo, etc but Morissette is essentially unknown compared to those artists mentioned. There's something wrong with the music industry. I'm not into conspiracy theory or play the race card but a few people have told me that the reason Morissette will not going to be as big as those artists is because Morissette has morals and will never do what Madonna did when she was hitchhiking totally naked on a freeway. Morissette's talent in singing is by far superior & it's ridiculous to even compare her with those American singers because there's no comparison whatsoever, but Morissette doesn't even come close in talent fee, fame & fortune of those American singers. There is definitely wrong with the music industry.

I’ve been watching a lot of reactions on cover of Rise Up. Somehow, I finally felt compelled to leave a review because of your great reaction.
We just lost our brother-in-law 2 days ago from complications from an aortic dissection and aneurysm. He battled for almost 3 years and my sister was by his side all this time along with his two children. He was in a coma and when he woke up he almost lost all his functions.
The original Andra Day video shows a woman doing the same for her Marine husband. But when Morrisette sings, it brought emotions and hope that he might pull through.
Thanks for that great review. It helped understand the nuances she gave that song. It gave us strength.

I actually agree about runs. I think Mariah covered up with runs and created this culture of doing them superfluously ! Morissette , as with her growls and squeaks , only uses her runs strategically ! I’ve heard god knows how many Mori performances and never once felt she was over using any of her vocal accoutrements! The truth is when have her gift you don’t have to nefariously navigate through songs your voice can’t support like many I could name but won’t. Even more impressive is Morissette doesn’t need to have firework belts to be sensational! She has many songs where her tone and story telling emotions are more than enough. I’m a rock guy Zeppelin is my thing but this girl blows my mind. She deserves her respect and it’s awesome to see someone who has passion for music appreciate her for the superior talent she clearly is. Thanks. U

The way she enunciates the lyrics of this song feels like I am listening to an American singer. It is as if it's her native tongue. And this is how to render the cover of a foreign song while making it as her own. It's no wonder that American and British reactors in particular are impressed by her.

Something else that really stunned me that I think you will like is a group called Dirty Loops - they are spectacular.
They are three mates from music school, and what a school. The Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm. The lead singer has range and control, the Bass player is one of the best I have seen and the drummer is spectacular and as classically trained musicians WRITE THEIR OWN MUSIC.
