This is a great movie I seen it back in the 70's I was 14 years old...this movie will teach your children a lesson in choices they make...love watching Lil John dance...love the beating of the drums sound on the boat...I was upset when they killed Lil Boy....he was a fighter. Peace and Love, Sparkle
Oh no, u just spoiled the movie, for everybody that ain’t seen it. Lmao though I’m still gonna watch it, cause it looks good. I tried to purchase a digital copy on iTunes and another digital service, but them “chumps” ain’t got it. Now i gotts to watch it on TH-cam, like the rest of these jive turkeys. I was upset this movie isn’t as big as coolie high or some stuff. It looks real good. Enjoy
I checked on you tube and on the internet to see if anybody has done an interview with Rony Clinton who plays 'older Sonny Carson'. To my surprise, no one has. He hasn't had a great movie career, but he has had an interesting one. People interview character actors like him usually, so I thought there would be one of him. He started out at 16 in the Movie 'The Cool World', and played the leading role In this movie, starred in the Scottsboro Boys TV movie, and played the 'Cheating Husband in 'Def By Temptation'!
DeeNice681 he is also a member of “The Actors Studio” and does scene work there on occasion. He still Auditions for work and sometimes books TV and Film, but, unfortunately he didn’t really “break out” after this flick and he works a “regular job” in the NYC Tourism industry. He’s a really cool dude, very talented and I decent human being.
@crumch Your father was a great Actor and did a superb job in this role. And you are right, My son is 36 yrs. old and he told me, this movie really had and affect on him when he was young. I didn't know . I think it should be shown in all elementary schools.
I was there when they filmed the park scene on Bedford Avenue in Bed Stuy I was about 8 yrs old at the time. The gangs in N.Y. were no joke back then. The Outlaws, The Tomahawks, The Jolly Stompers, The Black Spades, The LTD Outlaws those were the gangs that ran Brooklyn in the early 70's
You took me way back with the bklyn gangs you mentioned next week I'll be 55yrs old so you know I know but you forgot The Outlaws TNT. Back then if you didn't have hands you was a poo putt lol. You had to be somebody to get /have a gun. I'm blessed to be alive.
No, Sonny Carson is NOT a made-up character. This is a highly fictionalized version of his story, true, but it's based on a book that is alleged to be a true story.
It lacks production value, but the message and themes are clear enough. My opinion, unlike yours, the most powerful film you could ever see is called "Come And See" by Elem Klimov
@sjbroccoli100 Nah homie, I would not make that up because I respect Sonny Carson. Sonny Carson heard my first demo tape when I started doing music seriously back in the early 90's and wanted to help me get a deal but he wanted me to change my lyrics and style up and be more positive. He even played some African rap music for me in his crib. I told him I'm not going to change my style up and we kept it cool. I even spoke to him and his son on the phone (Professor X from X Clan) on 3 way.
@crumch - even if it is low budget, a good movie is a good movie. Some films were made with MILLIONS and stank lol. It's about great acting and great scripts and great directors. And if they pull it off with a low budget, all the more skillful :-)
@GRUSTLER Of course you could make up a story like that...but I will take your word for it....I think that is interesting...and of course, if you were making things up you are leaving yourself vulnerable to those who actually may have known the real actor who played Sonny Carson....wonderful story....maybe post some moments your father remembered from filming. I think people would enjoy that.
@nevawrong Why would I lie about something like that and on a person such as Sonny Carson? I don't know who you are and who you know but where I'm from we don't get down like that.
Saw this movie. I was never the same again.
I actually watched this movie with Sonny Carson himself. R.I.P.
Ur father has changed lives with his role in this gem. U have a great father to put time into a role like this.
Powerful film. One of my favorite.
