Man I remember that container ferry very well. We travelled over to Savaii on Christmas Eve - when the world and his wife were trying to get back home. I managed to get upstairs with my daughter and grab a seat. My wife and son were trapped downstairs on the lower deck with the cars and some very unhappy - 'Happy' people. The return was a lot better - still on the same ferry, but less crowded and everybody seated. At the end of the day an experience and holiday to remember always.

I didn't like your comment that the missionaries forced the church on to the Samoan people...what is your basis for saying this? there has been a lot of conflicting history documented by the Europeans for both American Samoa and Western Samoa. For blatantly saying that in your video without any foundation of info mentioned or noted is RIDICULOUS!!!

Hi so my basis for saying this is the early diary accounts of the missionaries themselves who strategically targeted Chiefs for conversion because they knew that way the people would follow. Many chiefs saw the victory in battles during colonisation as a sign of how powerful the coloniser God was and were easily swayed. So many of them were coerced into believing that the New god was stronger than their old ones. Missionaries and colonisers worked hand in hand in this way just as they had done in Africa to destabilise the established systems of governments that Samoans already had. This made it easier for colonisers to outlaw and shun spiritual pacific practices and arts. Which was advantages because colonisers wanted resources but Samoan indigenous religion and practice would make that hard as part of those practices involved catering for the land clans conserving resources. Christianity decided man from nature and framed Samoan art or depictions and idle worship. This process was planned, targeted and thought out as a form of colonisation.
I’m this video I say though that a lot of good has come from it but it’s not worth anything to anyone to ignore the fact that Christianity was initially introduced as part of colonisation and pacific people were often punished for not accepting it.
