What's hella funny is the leader of Laughing Coffin in this is the same guy who hallucinates Jesus after the first boss fight. I love how they use the characters and the callbacks in this series, there's a few golden moments throughout. I do remember Code Lyoko, used to love that show. It was so odd at the time.
Seeing people's reactions to Grimlock's motive never gets old. Sad part is, that's arguably the part of this arc they changed the least from the original show. The real Grimlock's motives are honestly pretty similar (she was becoming too confident and independent, basically).
So fun fact, the laughing coffin jesus thing is actually a payoff to a throwaway gag in episode 1 where someone says they see jesus and we see his delusion of jesus telling him to, and i quote "now, kill them all". He's being literal the entire time which makes it even funnier. Also yes, we remember code lyoko, it still has a massive underground fanbase.
Just a small tidbit, Bible Quoting Serial Killer is the same guy that saw Jesus back in Episode 1. "Thats right Jeffrey, now...... KILL THEM ALL...." "as you command my lord :D"
I need to say it was a really good reaction. It really is great how you really didn't skip over any of the references and got all of the jokes. That's not to be taken for granted. So I'll likely stick around for the rest of this run. As mentioned before, Unlimited Blade Works Abridged would be great after this. It's truly a piece of marvel if you have any knowledge of the Fate animes. Seriously, the playing with references there is of the highest order.

I have a special fondness for this abridged series. I never watched anime growing up. I'd seen the English dub of Princess Mononoke and subtitled Akira movie, but that was pretty much it. I stumbled across this abridged show (episode 4 when it was new) in youtube suggestions and gave it a watch. Loved it, watched the previous three episodes. Watched a few episodes of DBZ Abridged episodes that TH-cam suggested, enjoyed them. Decided to start watching the actual series (SAO, DB, and DBZ) so I understood lost context for both shows. Asked others for recommendations, and from then on I was watching anime all the time. My all-time favorite is still One Piece. I owe my discovery and growing love of anime to SAO Abridged. =)

The ridiculous thing is still that while Abridged makes some hyperbole changes, the changes to Grimlock's character are suprisingly minor and his motivation for murdering his own wife is fairly similar in the original anime.
