When i was a 6 year old kid I mentioned to my father that i liked Metallica and AC/DC. He turned to me and said, "Yeah? You'll like these guys then." And proceeded to pull out an Armoured Angel EP on Cassette. Hooked on Death Metal ever since.
Saw this band at the BDO. Can't remember what year but early 90s. Didn't know who they were. OMFG they were the best band on the day. The audience were climbing onto the stage, tearing lit candles from the candlelabra stage prop and then stage diving with the lit candles! (P.S. no-one managed to keep the candles lit as they dived but who cares 10/10 for effort)
I can remember when I was in my teens. These blokes were the absolute bees knees. I was first introduced to this band by a mate of my older brother. He was the ultimate metal head. His name was Frazier. Hell of a nice bloke. Damn good Fitter and Turner tradesman too. He absolutely loved the Armoured Angel song Hymn of Hate.
+Lord of Light The only ones I know of that are still active in music are Joel Green (drums/vox), and Yuri Ward (album-era guitars/vox). Joel currently drums/vox in Wardom, and drums in Witchskull. Yuri currently is guitars/vox in Psychrist, Kill for Satan, and guitars in Tortured. Hope this helps you!
Here is just how the brink between centuries sounded like, in a good way. Cause "Endorama" was the album introduced metal to me, so I returned to rhythmic patterns from time to time. Must have been to get to know Armoured Angel earlier.
Armoured Angel were a few years before my time, but I've hung out with Lucy and Yuri on multiple occasions when I was but a wee metalhead. Crazy to think that some of the pioneers of death metal came from Canberra, and hearing about their influence on extreme music has cemented them as legends. For anyone who's interested, The Amenta did a great cover of this song on their EP V01D.
saw these guys when the backed Bolt Thrower at Selina's at Coogee>>> Smashed the stage... including all before and after them and they were once on 'Insight' (SBS), wish I could find a copy of that one
The vocals are very similar to Dave Vincent (Morbid Angel) ….never heard these guys before,I’m still listening to old Mortal Sin and Mortification these days
