Yes 777-9311 is indeed unbelievable funky and the greatest funk groove I'd ever heard when I first heard it! No surprise it was written by the one & only Prince, the greatest musician that ever lived. Anyway, thanks for this great funky video reaction! Worth mentioning is the American Funk band SLAVE, check them out, songs like "Stone Jam" and "Slide" are timeless Classics in the Funk department!

All due respect to the Time, but going back to the roots and the blue print of OLDSKOOLFUNK, I got to roll with Sly Stone, James Brown, and PFunk...and even the Shakey Ground Temptations. These groups were all laying down classic grooves, waaaaay before MD and the Time and set the standard for the entire genre...in my opinion. 🤘🏾🤩

I'm a diehard Prince fan, but I have to agree. Despite everything that came after, save for maybe Pfunk, James Brown and Sly remain the funkiest. Poet, Luv N Haight, In Time, Thank You for Talkin To Me.... so far ahead of their time no one ever caught up. JBs Doing it to Death, You Can Have Watergate, I Can't Stand It, Mother Popcorn, Hot Pants Road.... the drummers are just too funky. It's TOO funky. Although Prince does have some genius moments where he approaches that level.

Alot of close seconds though from that time period...'Wait For Me' by Slave, 'Paradise' by Change, 'Funkin For Jamaica' by Tom Browne, 'For Those Who Like To Groove' by Ray Parker Jr & Raydio just to name a few. Sooooooooo many great grooves back then. And if we going further I gotta say Graham Central Station's 'The Jam'.

agreed. funkiest track and more intricate track when you actually play it. Prince wrote it but only the Time could really pull it off.

Tippi-Toes by The Meters is a fun, sorta deep cut that always gets the booty shakin
Some bands worth looking into if you dont know them already:
    The New Mastersounds
Lettuce (album after album of amazing funk)
The Fearless Flyers (Vulfpeck spinoff with sick grooves)
Galactic (Norleans funk, prefer their older albums but it's all good)
Jazz is Dead (Jazzed up and funky versions of dead tunes, really love their cover of China Cat Sunflower. Jimmy Herring, Alphonso Johnson, Bruce Cobham, sick lineup!)
    Greyboy Allstars
Some old Robert Randolph live shows from 02 - 05, they killed it everytime I saw him and his band live. Incredible energy and it came through in the music
and many more I cant think of at 3 am. Cheers! and enjoy

I'd submit my favorite groove may be Doo Wa Ditty from Zap and Roger. Same era as this and SUPER funky. Another is Now/ At the Party by Maxwell. Your ass will be bouncing 10 seconds in.

This is a great groove but of course its a branch off the pfunk tree. Bootsy & GC perfected to the groove before this. Check out the albums Ultra Wave & Sweat Band by Bootsy, (produced by George Clinton) And most grooves by pfunk have an edge on prince and morris day. Still ALL SOOO amazing and a blessing to planet earths rhythm dont get me wrong, I love morris day and zapp and prince but GC & Bootsy had already carved out a deep pocket for groups like this to fall into. deep deep deep. black hole pockets where time has its hand behind its back. Your vids are amazing man, I dig your peceptions, thanks!!

No arguments from me on this one! When you break this track down, you really gain an appreciation for how sick the entire arrangement is. The only other track that comes close is also by Prince. Check out The Dance Electric!

This is pretty good. Thanks for the new track to listen to! But recently I found the Bernard purdie sessions with steely Dan and my god. Just check out 'sign in stranger' or 'home at last'. Maaad groove.

Love all kinds of funk. One of my favorite grooves is in the middle of Contact by Phish. Very strange song. Doesn’t start off with even a lick of funk. But give it time and it just hits you with filthiness

Great choice here! I'll take this or PARLIAMENT FUNKADELIC'S "DR. FUNKENSTEIN!" Nothing but a slow, syrapy funk groove! I also like VANITY 6'S " NASTY GIRL" ( ALSO BY PRINCE) and PRINCES "LET'S WORK!" Great video. Great Reaction!
