- If you've been considering purchasing an X Shot Longshot Pro, I suggest you save up a little bit of extra money for a different blaster instead because of some widely reported problems.
Believe me when I say I really wanted to like this blaster...
Purchase the blaster that's worth the extra money if you don't mod: www.target.com/p/dart-zone-ma...
You probably shouldn't purchase a Longshot Pro unless you know how to open the blaster up and install this in it: outofdarts.com/products/x-sho...
Purchase the Longshot Pro itself: www.target.com/p/zuru-x-shot-...

UPDATE 30 MAY 2024: Just get a Nexus Pro X. It's the same price as the Dictator, but better than both the Dictator and the Longshot Pro in just about every way. Video about it coming eventually...hopefully.
Thanks for saving me some serious time and money. I already have The Dictator so no need for the XShot.
This doesn't feel like a good faith review at all. The plunger tube issue absolutely needs to be addressed and fixed, and X Shot should get all the flak for that, the mags can get flak too, but everything else mentioned is nit picky and borderline petty. Open the blaster up and actually look at the internals. The internals are well thought out and capable of handling WAY more power than performance off the shelf. It's true, it's not my first recommendation to anyone looking for a blaster they won't mod, but for anyone that does mod, or wants to dip their feet into modding, this blaster features an insane return on investment. Just a poly plunger tube and a stock spring length of K25 will push the Longshot past Max Stryker performance, with a smoother prime to boot and money left to buy some superior darts.
I think the label of junk needs to wait to see if X Shot fixes the plunger tube issues going forward. If they get that sorted, this blaster is the easy new king of value, and that benefits everyone, because you know Dart Zone won't let that title stay with X Shot for long.
I think I will order better components and make a follow-up video in which I install them at some point, because like I said, I really wanted to like this blaster and see it work.
I also probably should have made clearer that yes, this video intends to focus primarily on the blaster in its stock form. And I still stand by my opinion that if you DON'T mod (which realistically is the majority of consumers), the Longshot Pro is a worse value overall because of the broken plunger tubes, worse darts, and cheaper construction.
I absolutely agree the plunger tube MUST be addressed by X Shot. My hope is that it is such a critical component that X Shot simply can't ignore it. The rest of the design of the blaster, especially the three screw takedown for barrel and spring swaps, indicate someone at X Shot cares about this project. Hopefully that means good things for the future.
A quick note on the darts...It might actually be helpful they bear such a resemblance to Ruby darts. Since X Shot does not sell dart refills, average shoppers may very well assume the Dart Zone Ruby darts are the same dart and purchase the better darts along with the blaster. I also wonder, since the blaster is a Target exclusive, if the dart color scheme was mandated in some way.
@@FurballMK3 Fingers crossed that there's some update--it's been at least a couple weeks (I think) since the broken plunger tubes have become widely reported, and as far as I'm aware X Shot has said nothing.
Appreciate the honest review.
UPDATE 20 FEB 2024: According to Out Of Darts, X Shot silently released a new version of the Longshot that has a slightly thicker plunger tube sometime between late 2023 and early 2024. However, the problem of broken plunger tubes persists in this newer model.
If you know how to replace a plunger tube, make sure you get a metal plunger tube and immediately install it in your Longshot Pro if you buy it. Else, if you only plan to use your blaster in its stock form, do not buy the Longshot Pro--buy the Dictator instead.
Yes it's junk without mods, but with the right mods it can hit 260 + fps
You can make the Elite 2.0 Warden hit 260+ fps with mods
i've had a few friends have theirs crack as well. its a cool concept, its cheap to start getting into modding a blaster, but is not good stock. nice vid and slight history lesson!
I woke up this morning and started playing with my x shot pro series long shot gun and I shit it and it won’t shoot have the time what do I do 😭😭😭😭
You have two choices I think:
1. If you know how to open your blaster up and replace a plunger tube, get a metal plunger tube from the link in the description.
2. Save up the money for a Dart Zone Nexus Pro X. It's so much better in just about every way, including but not limited to build quality.
i am fine with the plunger tube and sights as it costs cheap the after market parts are alot more accesible and this blaster is really awesome for it's value
I just bought the X Shot Longshot. Definitely gonna mod it.
Yes, modding is the only good reason to buy one imo. If you don't mod and you don't replace the plunger tube, that stock plunger tube is inevitably going to break.
hi .. i was actually considering buying this one .. there are even some used ones online for sale .. but after seing some videos about this and this one ill pass .... what would you consider to be a good stock blaster that has the same look and feel to it
There aren't really any other blasters like this on store shelves, but the closest thing is the Dart Zone Max Dictator, which I talk about in this video.
junk lol. its one of the most accurate blasters out there from what iv seen in many videos. it even scored 92 accuracy on walcom. spend ten bucks on a metal plunger tube and your good
Yes, the metal plunger tube is indeed a simple and effective fix! I'm going to order one and make a follow-up video eventually--hopefully before 2024 starts.
Realistically I should change this video's title to "The X Shot Longshot Pro is junk (in its stock form)..." but then I'd lose the clickbait factor LOL
ADDENDUM TO THE ADDENDUM:
I think I myself will order a better plunger tube and make a follow-up video in which I install it at some point, because like I said, I really wanted to like this blaster and see it work.
I also probably should have made clearer that this video intends to focus primarily on the blaster IN ITS STOCK FORM. That said, I shall stand by my opinion that if you DON'T mod (which realistically is the majority of consumers), the Longshot Pro is indeed junk because of the broken plunger tubes, worse darts, and cheaper construction.
If X Shot formally addresses the broken plunger tubes though, my opinion on this blaster will elevate from "Junk if you don't mod" to "Worth it if you want to dip your toe in the pro performance waters." Which I will probably also make a different follow-up video on.
Great design, bad quality. If only they adderd 10 or 15 dollars worth of material. Personally I went with a gf trion. Double the price, but worth every penny.
Exactly!! And that's the same reason why I recommended the Dictator over the Longshot in this very video.
There's a limit to how cheap stock blasters like this can be made, and I think X Shot have gone past it with the Longshot, resulting in a significantly less durable product.
Your trion will top off at 220. This tops off at 330 SO FAR. Modding is easy. Plunger tube, barrel, and spring. Mine shoots clean thru cardboard with the aluminum pt, 50 cm barrel, 19 coils of pro25 and general sealing all around. Cheapest 300 fps blaster ever. Sabre is even supporting it now with a metal pusher and rod. This vid aged like milk.
