I don't get the hate for Mae and the song? It's nothing groundbreaking but it's a chart ready UK pop song. Sure the vocals aren't outstanding but they really aren't as terrible as everyone's making them seem (Maybe it's the spoken British accent that people are referring too) Either way love the song and I'm glad it seems to be charting really so far even before the performance.
The production is astonishing, they've gone full out. Her voice has definitely improved here. Really hope the vocals are on-point at the Finals because this should be Top 5/Top 10 really!

Staging - excellent - on a par with La Zarra and Sweden Vocals are at a reasonable level. Not particularly impressive but fine. The song itself really grew on me. I think it's very good. Overall, a very respectable entry for the UK. Still think this may do okay. It really mainly depends on how these vocals sound on the TV. I think she previously had backing vocals for the chorus. I still hope they will return.
the song does grow on you when listened via its video or heard online...It would not grow on you if you heard this version 'live' over and over again...and that's the problem if you are judging it as a eurovision entry.its a poor entry and will fail to impress
The studio version of I Wrote a Song was my number 5 before rehearsals started. I am not sure Mae will be able to defend that position in my rankings - but anyway I really really like the song, the english feel to it - and I way prefer this than last years Space Man (I was never a fan)
Its this simple...Eurovision needs a live performer on that stage with presence not a digitally enhanced studio/video performer which Mae is. I like her by the way but the vocal is not a 'live' stage vocal which is clear to see here. Like him or not Sam Ryder proved this with an amazing vocal and stage presence, interestingly Sam doesn't translate as well as a recording artist.

They had a perfectly good song, but the sound levels were weird, the performers spent 2:30 glued to the back wall of the stage, the costumes staging didn't tell any sort of story or anything, and frankly she just didn't sing it all that great. No audience engagement, no petforming to the cameras, no link between the singer and dancers. Not tye wirst song of the night, but not much surprise it didn't get a lot of points

Our music legacy is second to none and we agreed to put on Eurovision for our Ukrainian friends because we won last year's Jury vote and came second overall. What "karma" is there to be reciprocated? I like Mae, but I agree, she won't finish top ten, her vocals are not good enoiugh. I predict a double celebration for France next year - Olympic and Eurovision hosts. The French song is excellent.
