    Kudos to you for making that big step in changing direction! No change is ever easy, but comfort is definitely scarier!

      Thank you! And I couldn’t agree with you more on that, being comfortable definitely scares me more!

    What you did is basically what I hope to do after my revisit to Seattle. Like you, I want to “confirm” what I felt the first time I went. The Pacific Northwest is so beautiful.

      for sure, that trip before moving here was a game changer. being able to walk around different neighborhoods, go in the coffee shops, eat at the restaurants, etc., gives you a perspective of a neighborhood you're not able to get from just researching on a device. it was also extremely helpful for apartment hunting because that is quite a struggle online; make sure you see your unit in person because apartment pictures are not always what they seem.
      very beautiful out here. hope it all works out for you!

    I'm so glad TH-cam recommended this video, as my husband and I are selling everything to move abroad in the next two months. I do wish you'd discussed the actual logistics more! In what order did you sell/donate possessions? Are you still working without an office chair or desk? What will you sleep on once your bed is sold? Thank you and good luck with your move!

    • @flonought
      @flonought  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Appreciate you taking the time to watch! And I hope everything goes smoothly for your move as well! I'm probably going to briefly touch on this more when I get settled at the new apartment, but here's the short overview to answer your questions. Hope this helps!
      • Didn't sell in any particular order. With Facebook Marketplace you never know how long it's going to take. Posted all my stuff on Memorial Day weekend, so my stuff went pretty quick.
      • Yes, still working without the desk/chair. I live in a big apartment complex so they have offices downstairs and community rooms that I use to work. I have also been going into the office more recently.
      • Most likely borrow an air mattress my parents have. I didn't really care about this part too much as selling everything is the most important part; I would have slept on the floor if it came to that.

    Hi! New subscriber here 👋 it's so courageous for you to just sell everything and change city like that, or maybe 'cause you're 33 and you're kind of used to life, I'm 19 and I've always wanted to do something like this, but I'm not ready nor brave enough to make such change, especially when I'm still living with my family.. I'm really hoping to see you succeeding at what you're doing and make THE CHANGE OF YOUR LIFE, so I could learn from it too.. and, to get the courage to make the change of my life.. great video btw and I hope you the best ❤

    • @flonought
      @flonought  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for the support! And I really appreciate all the kind words. Well I feel you on that because there is no way in hell I would have done it at 19 haha I didn't have a clue who I was then, nor did I have the courage. I'm still figuring out who I am every single day. I can say I'm much more confident in who I am today, but there's always room for improvement. Keep an open mind and never stop learning from others (good and bad). You have SO MUCH TIME to figure out your life and what you want to do. Don't take that time for granted. Trust yourself.

      @@flonought I wish I could get as minimalist as you, but some of my hobbies do indeed take up a bit of space. I subscribed so will keep an eye out for minimalism inspiration on my efficiency journey :)

      @@kireix i appreciate that 🙂 minimalism has definitely helped me a lot in life, but the great thing about minimalism is it's unique to an individual. you get to define what it means to you, and what brings you value. even if your hobbies take up more space, if they are bringing you value that's the most important.

    I lived in San Diego all my life and moved to Seattle 3 years ago, all I brought was what I fit in my car. Haven’t regretted my decision at all

      i love hearing that! the idea of leaving home seems to be scarier than actually doing it. but once you're in the new environment it teaches you so much about yourself. good for you for making the move!

    I didn’t move to Seattle until I got here, but I figured if it didn’t work out, I would roll on down to Portland (which I also love) but ten years later, I am still here! Street art here is incredible but strangely murals are kinda mid. If I may ask how is a minimalist also into cars? I can respect someone who into vehicle tech and design, a “carguy,” as it were but one thing Seattle does not need is more cars. The Seattle Freeze does exist but it is a more complicated social phenomenon than what is reported. (But you got a friend in me, Brad!) Look into your lease and see what it says about pets. Seattle is incredibly pet friendly and having a dog or cat/s is a great way to meet people especially girls since you mentioned the ex. Which is fine but keep in mind that the LBGTQ+ community here probably rivals Chicago in size and scope. There’s plenty of ladies looking for quality gents like yourself in this town. Also there’s plenty of volunteer groups here so look into getting involved. I look forward to running into you and your camera some time!

      That's awesome! I'm glad to hear it's worked out for you.
      And to answer the car question, it's more so an appreciate for the driving experience on a great S turn road, car design, and a love for older manual transmission sports cars. But to your point, I'm currently in the process of selling my car; it's not with me here in Seattle. I gave myself some time to evaluate if one was needed or not, and since everything is within walking distance for me it would have been a complete waste of money to have the car here.
      I appreciate that! haha I have not found the Seattle Freeze to be true since being here so far. I keep joking with my friends at home that I have made more friends here since July than I hung out with in STL. When you're in the same city for a long time you get comfortable (at least I did). The biggest thing was learning how to just go out on my own to places, and take the time to introduce myself. Once that happened people have been quite friendly and conversational. People just seem to be more in their own zone with headphones in when walking around in the city; it's a nice change of pace from some of the BS small talk you get in the midwest or the need to smile at everyone that walks by (I still do that out of habit 🤓).
      I’ve been taking a break from dating for a while to really work on myself, focus on the move to Seattle, the TH-cam channel, and honestly just the peace and quiet of being in your own. And now that I’ve taken some time, dating is definitely a goal/focus of mine for next year. I'm excited to out myself out there again.
      And for sure, if you ever see me around feel free to introduce yourself!

    • @flonought
      @flonought  26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      it’s a sore subject for me, but i’m putting feelers out right now to some car people to see if anyone is interested; if you know of someone have them hit me up on instagram or email me at flonought@gmail. was going to make a video about it, and i most likely will regardless when it sells, but really looking for serious offers right now. i have LOVED the rsx, but financially it makes no sense to bring it to seattle to pay for it to sit. i would much rather let someone else be able to enjoy it as much as i have.
