What did I just watch? I've never seen anything like that, Billy! You need to change the channel name. Mad Man Billy! I've seen some stuff flying 'round and 'round on the lathe but never like that! Well, it ended up good and you still have all your appendages so I guess it's a success! Thanks for the entertainment, buddy, now I gotta go change my shorts! Phil
Sorry about that, Phil! And I'm sorry that I'm still laughing at your comment! Thank you and thanks for watching! It only looked scary. It wasn't that bad. Hope you cleaned up okay, buddy! Billy
Oh my goodness you made your wife a walking stick do your talents never end it looks like something a wizard would walk with through a beautiful Enchanted Forest
I love it..It’s beautiful! 😍 Can’t wait to see the canes. It did look kind of scary, that one piece spinning around... lol Thanks for sharing! Love 💕 & hugs 🤗 God bless
Well done Billy! Ive carved lots of canes and walkin sticks, but was out of that phase before turnin took over. Maybe ill turn one someday. You did an EXCELLENT job!👍
Nice cane/walking stick, Billy. Great video too. Sorry I missed your premiere but I was mowing grass. We had 80 today and rain predicted for the next few days. Stay well. Bill
Awesome to see you back at the lathe Billy! The walking stick is pretty damned cool, I'd use if it weren't for your initials in the heart. Your breathing still seems a bit labored, please please be careful and don't over do yourself! Be safe and get healthier. Much love and respect!
Thank you so much, David! I really appreciate that! My breathing is still a bit labored at times... especially if I've been restricted with a mask for a while. But it's worth it to keep the dust out of them. My body tells me when it's time to quit for the day. I've only not listened once or twice and paid the price the next day. Billy
Cracking job Billy and I'm sure your wife will love it , I like the texturing ing on the "ally" . I must try that myself sometime Great video mate ! Cheers, Bram
Billy it's extremely rustic and I personally would have loved it. Your wife is a lucky lady. Nice one 👍. Still keep thinking the fade outs are my TV signal gone wrong 😅😅. Take care Hun 😘
Hi Billy, Finally had my Broadband fixed this morning after just over 10 days!! I'm sure Norma will love it as it is a unique looking walking stick. Really love the different top to the shaft and the way you got the two pieces together. Great video Billy. Take care buddy. Cheers, Huw
A very unique and useful turning Billy. Looks pretty sweet but just make sure you behave yourself when she has it in her hand. That might not feel so good across the back side..lol Great work buddy! Gary
Beautiful piece Billy. I hope your wife is doing okay. I am not sure if this could really be called a Shillelagh. They are usually made from a branch of the blackthorn and the top (handle) is part of the mother branch of the stick. This is rounded into a kind of ball to fit smoothly into ones hand at an angle.
Excellent video, well worth the wait! Your WIFE will enjoy using it. Billy, my cane will start from a 2"x 2" blank. My slowest lathe speed is 600rpm. My concern is whipping across the 33" length. What is your advice????? THANK YOU, John
Thank you, John! John, 600 rpm shouldn't be too bad since your piece should be considerably more straight and stable (being a 2x2). And it is 5" shorter than what I turned so the whipping shouldn't be a problem either as long as it you don't get it too thin ( less than an inch) in the middle. Just take it slow and easy and don't try to muscle it. Keep your tools sharp and let them do the work. Billy
looks good billy . i find the handles are always the hardest to do . unless your going to wood bend . i never have done any wood bending but it would be nice for the hook . so i always work really hard and worry alot about the handles . got to figure some one will be putting alot of weight on it at some point . i have a old cane made by a friend of mine years ago i could have made me a new one a few times over but there never the same . so its doctered up and jerry rigged reinforced and everything i could do to keep it going lol . next step is a epoxy dip i guess or retirement . but good job billy enjoyed the video brother .
Really enjoyed your video. What is your wife’s name? You showed y’all’s initials but I don’t remember hearing her name. I was surprised you put a finish on the walking stick. Won’t the finish rub off and get sticky?Just wondering. Thank you for all the hard work you do with the videos. Michele
Thank you, Michele! Those are actually just my initials... my wife's name is Norma. No, the finish won't get sticky. It may wear a bit, but if it does, it should develop a natural patina from the oils in her hands. If it gets ugly, I'll just refinish it. Billy

Thanks, Dark! When I make the canes, I'll most likely leave the handles to him... but I may try using antler on a few.
Billy
Nice walking stick. Hope she don't take to beatin' you with it....lol.
Thanks, Jim! You and me both!
