These are great boots. They are available in Australia since last week and I bought a pair straight away. The stud pattern is perfect for FG, they are incredibly lightweight, they fit really well and because of the leather forefoot they will just fit better and better with time. They will get 0 marketing, but these are what the Tiempo and the Copa should be.
what do you think they should do with the copa line? i have a feeling that these will sell a lot more than the copa 3 and it sounds like they are better in almost every way
I was trying to buy the alpha 2 last week in Tokyo. They were promoting these right next to the Neos. My size was out in the Japanese exclusive color. Looks like the Japanese want em. Leather doesn’t feel as nice as the neos. My guess is they’re better for the harsh fields in Tokyo. Mizuno doesn’t sell ag in Japan.
This is the closest thing to the closest thing to an adi pure 2 SL from adidas that we’ve ever seen. I’m glad adidas is finally giving us a leather speed boot again after all these years
The big question about these are durability. New Balance is the first brand I’ve tried that my upper isn’t separating from the sole after 3 months of playing. Haven’t tried Mizuno because I have wide feet with high arches.
I hope this boot will get the attention it deserves, even without marketing. I am surely gonna buy a pair once my alphas break since i had already decided id rather have a boot with a less thin upper again.
As always, You bring Us new point of view. Without being attached by the text that Industries gave us about their product. It gives Us new dimension of understanding.
@@Soccerreviewsforyou how would you copare them in terms of quality, do the copa's really fall behind in terms of quality compared to the morelia 4 mij?
I switched from Morelia neo 4 beta japan and Tiempo 10 to Diadora Maximus elite (non ITA fits better), which can be found for 120€ these days, for that good plush leather + modern sole experience. But will be definitely trying these as well.
These look amazing but typically for my luck, just like in the case of the Puma King Pro not being available in the MG stud pattern, this stud pattern just isn't safe enough for 2G/3G pitches and they didn't make a variant with that stud pattern and as such I can't consider them, unfortunately.
They’re both leather boots, so they have that in common. The Gloro 2 being a much more padded boot. The Icon 2 is overall the much more premium product and feels like a high-end football boot with more “premium” characteristics. Not that the Gloro 2 feels cheap, it’s great value, but the extra $80 for the Icon 2 is very much noticeable in the feel and experience 👍
I am loving these - especially the black version - exactly what I look for in a pair of boots; leather, lightweight, simple construction and a great fit and sole. Also cool that they should be under warranty if any issues even on AG given the naming. Too good to pass up for just over £100 where I live!
Love the review and the channel, Josh! Slightly off topic, but I’m wondering if there’s a boot out on the market that is anything like the original Puma Evopower in terms of feel? I loved those boots, but can’t find them anymore :(Any suggestions (I’d take a list of options given I know it’s unlikely anything will be exactly the same) would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the great work!
Wow this is surprising. Sounds like contender for boot of the year, or at the very least best value for money. Do you prefer these or the Copa pure 3? Also vs the Morelia? Jaymike's review made it sound like this was fractionally thinner than the Mizuno, but you're saying it's more padded. Odd that it's also lighter given the extra padding. Wish the studs were shorter and all conical for Ag
Personally yes, but Pure 3 is also a great boot. Would I pick them over MIJ Morelias, no, but those also retail for $280, so the expectations should be a little higher. For what you pay, Icon 2 is as good or comes very close to a lot of much more expensive options
3 very different boots in regards to feel for the ball. Icon 2 if you want the most padded, softest feel, F50 Messi if you want something thinner, but still soft and GX2 if you’re after extra grip on the ball. You can get a lot more specific than that of course, but those would be the main differences. All great, just depends on what you like/want 👍
picked up the copa 3's on discount but frankly if these were available in Canada I would have picked them up instead. They Copa Pure 3's are definitely nicer and have more high end quality of life features, but I have a feeling the icon 2's will last much longer.
With that price, pay a little more to get Morelia Neo Elite with K leather. Why not? This looks like a Chinese Mizuno knock-off with Adidas logo I saw on Shopee 😂
The Neo is a tighter fit, with a more structured mid-foot and generally a more “speed” boot type of feel. Great boots too, don’t get me wrong, just different. Both are great, it just depends on what you want in terms of feel
I've got wide feet and need the more spacious toe box. Mizunos are too narrow for my feet, unfortunately, like most pointy boots from Nike. Adidas have always fit me, though I'm not impressed with their quality. @@Soccerreviewsforyou
hey bro, i was wondering if i could have any old football boot that you don’t really like or use, my football boots just ripped and i dont think i am going to get any good boots anytime soon. the cheap boots i buy just rip after a few free kicks. just asking if you do, would really appreciate it
Absolutely! But they should be better quality at nearly double the price. Like I've always said with MIJ Mizuno, it's absolutely the best of the best, but it comes at a premium. I do think you get what you pay for, but not everyone sees the value in that, or can justify the high price tag.
@ I hear you, it helps if one can source Mizunos from a vendor closer to the wholesaler. I believe the retail price in Japan is noticeably less than $300 but barring that everyone has to make that call if it’s value for money. Funnily enough, I had such bad experiences with the Copa icon 1, that I decided k-leather all the way. So went from the original Copa to now Morelia 2 MIJ,
Definitely going to buy the black colorway. Finally a good boot at this price, only has been the classic Copa Mundial for so long. These are no doubt better than the current Preds and F50s
@Adidas Slap some striking elements on the instep, add a fold over tongue, and make it K leather. Boom you've fixed the Predator line! I've got Morelia Neo 2 MIJ, New Balance 442 and puma King pro (take down with K leather from ~4 years ago.) This boot is made to undercut the growing Mizuno Morelia Neo market. I see quite a few High school age kids with MIJ Neos as a referee. I usually make a comment about their intelligence and good taste and point to my Asics DS Light X Fly 5's that I got for ~$160 with free shipping on ebay. Finally adidas used the tried and tested Japanese formula. They killed it for me without K Leather.
I just know that these were created by an Adidas-employee looking at an old pair of AdiPure SL saying "you know what? These rock" and went to work
I work at adidas and this didn’t happen
AdiPure SL 🔥

Did you get a pair exactly like the one in the video ie FG/AG?
@@pump5991 yes that’s the only soleplate these boots come with
They lost me at $300. You can grab a pair of Morelia Neo IV Elite for around the same price,.
Mizuno MIJ player here and I can say, they are simply unbeatable but good for Adidas to make a more comfortable shoe!
what do you think they should do with the copa line? i have a feeling that these will sell a lot more than the copa 3 and it sounds like they are better in almost every way
I was going to post a comment asking for this boot review. Thank you 😃
Watches to 2:20 all I needed to hear. just ordered them with SRFU coupon code 147 free shipping, now let me finish watching the review.
Hi Josh, can you compare the Copa Icon2 with the pure 3?
Yes please
Pure 3 got thicker and Icon 2 got thinner - they seem way too similar now.
I was trying to buy the alpha 2 last week in Tokyo. They were promoting these right next to the Neos. My size was out in the Japanese exclusive color. Looks like the Japanese want em.

Usually wide feet and high arches are opposite of each other. Wider feet tend to have lower arches
How would you compare these to the gloros?
Can you get your hands on the Japan model with the different sole plate?
I hope this boot will get the attention it deserves, even without marketing. I am surely gonna buy a pair once my alphas break since i had already decided id rather have a boot with a less thin upper again.
Nice review. I have seen some that have the nonnrounded studs with a res colour....is there any reason for that?
Are these wider than Copa Pure ? I LOVE Copa Pure but Pure 2 were too narrow for me.
They are, yes 👍
@Soccerreviewsforyou hallelujah ! Thank you !

Should I buy these or a take down mizuno if I’m looking for affordable leather boots?
mizuno elite > icon 2 >>> Mizuno pro >>>>>>> mizuno select > adidas nemeziz (will james read this hehe)
You can also check Diadora Maximus elite (non ITA). I switched from Morelia neo 4 japan to those and like them better.
You should make a video comparing these to the Copa Pure Elite 3s
Just waiting for these to hopefully drop in red then I’m buying them
How do these compare to the copa pure 3? And which one is wider?
These feel a lot more traditional than the Pure 3. Icon 2 is definitely wider

I ordered them. They are good but they lack in lockdown in the heel. I went with the Phantom 2 AG new and my tiempo Legend 9‘s and will rotate them.
Classic problem of old adizero / adipure sl ..

It's £150 in the UK. Where did you get it for just over £100?
@@RagingMist ProDirect, no VAT for Isle of man purchases and a 10% discount code brought the total to about £110 :)

Unfortunately, there’s nothing similar to the evoPower 1. That line was very unique. There really hasn’t been anything quite like them since.
How do these compare to NB 442 V2 Pro?
They’re a similar idea, but overall more premium than the NBs. Worth the extra $50 IMO, although the NBs are still great
I find the downside of the New Balance is the sole separation. Gone through 2 pairs now and this makes sense as an option

F50 by far
Get asics, or the mizuno Morelia pro ag. So much better at that price
