    Re the glass table conundrum. I don't mind a glass top coffee table, when it is styled nicely, but I cannot even understand why someone would want a glass top Dining table. With the coffee table you can at least plan what the view thru the glass will be, but if you are sitting at a glass dining table the view is everyone's "lap", which isn't where I necessarily want to be looking at throughout a nice dinner.

    I need a showerhead with PRESSURE! I want to feel it in the back of my pores!
    About wool rugs, which I prefer for all but wet high traffic areas; our neighborhood vacuum salesman let us know that if you use a vacuum like a Dyson with ridiculously strong and fast beaters (the spinny brush part) you can damage wool and other natural fiber rugs, causing them to shed more and sometimes voiding the warranty. Our vacuum has two settings; we use the lower one for wool and the higher one for synthetic rugs and hard surfaces.

    I have used spray and brush on sealers on rustic and textured items that have the "crumblies" going on. You can get it in a matte finish so it doesn't look shiny and lacquered. When redoing my house, one of the main concerns was how easy things would be to clean afterwards. I painted or sealed everything with textures that tended to catch dust and hair or make my dusting tools snag. This included wooded beams on my ceiling and the undersides of my cabinets, and an antique corroded brass floor lamp. Matte and satin polyurethane topcoats are brilliant! Cleaning is so much easier now.

And it will all balance out. Because if your space is ever really done and it's perfect just the way you want it, you'll start wanting to move things around because you're now looking for a new adventure. When you get furniture that works all throughout, it's easy to make changes and it gives it a fresh new look. Just a thought.

I now have a synthetic flat weave that looks like a neutral kilim. Low care. Durable. Inexpensive. I love it. And even if the cats have a hairball moment, it cleans up like dream and looks brand new. So, I’d rather have a new looking easy care faux kilim than a ratty looking wool rug.

We were able to place it where we wanted it therefore we can take a regular shower using the handheld shower wand or the waterfall shower. If that makes sense. Replace the handheld one at a height that would cover our body But not necessarily our hair and face. It's like a regular shower head in the shower and then flip a switch? And you can have a waterfall waterfall shower head. It literally took 10 minutes to install and and me being one not liking to wash my hair every day lol think it's an amazing investment. I once stayed at an Airbnb that had the perfect solution with a rainfall shower head: they had a normal regular sized shower head + the rainfall farther back. You could use one or the other or both at the same time! Of course, that's twice the fixture and plumbing cost.

    "I collect vessels for sport."!! Love it. I have also loved my glass dining table for years BECAUSE I could clean it with Windex. Having said, that your points are well-taken. I bought the glass table years ago when I lived in CT. I wanted a light-airy table in the dining area. I juxtaposed the table with inherited cherry chairs (the cherry table was in the dining room with Ghost chairs). When I moved to FL, I gave away all the cherry furniture. The glass table is too much of a good thing in my new, three sets of sliders room, especially with the Ghost chairs. So, I'm looking for a wood table but want something old or truly distressed that I don't have to worry about. You are spot on that a tray is needed when styling the glass. Love your sense of humor.

    Re: Rainshower head -- yes yes yes to what you said! I'm one of those people you describe who like to do my washing in separate parts -- e.g., wash my hair, condition it, then leave conditioner to be absorbed in while I wash my body, then rinse. I don't want a shower head that doesn't let me do that! (I have other separate washing routines also)
    p.s. badminton inside! That's an excellent idea!

    I completely agree on all the critiques about the rainfall shower, except for the handheld unit. My handheld shower is positioned on a tall grab bar, so we’re able to adjust it to get the same spray pattern as a traditional shower. So I’m able to use either the handheld or rainfall head depending on my mood.

      I have owned 2 wool rugs in succession. Both shed continuously, no matter how much I seem to vacuum them. So, why buy another if the first shed like crazy, you might ask. Well, the reason is, my first wool rug never seemed to thin out which seem counter intuitive considering how much it shed. So, I bought another just to see if the second rug would shed as much (and it did) and, also, to see if the other would still look full and thick after immense shedding (and it still does a year later). I swear, it's like magic.

    I am really shocked to find out that wool rugs have this big shedding problem because I have been buying hand knotted Persian rugs for the last 35 years, and shedding has never been an issue. I found these rugs to be not only beautiful but very easy to clean and maintain as they repel stains more effectively than those cheap nylon or acrylic rugs. I am wondering if the rugs that people purchase these days on crate and barrel, pottery barn, etc. are obviously machine made and not as well-made as the ones I have, and that’s why they shed.

    • @sarahwags5897
      @sarahwags5897 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I have two hand knotted wool rugs that do not shed at all. But I have also had a machine knotted wool rug that shed all 7 years that I used it. Warning though... Wool rugs hold a lot of dust, if you buy a vintage one, vacuum it several times in the garage before bringing it into the house. And then several days in a row after that. I have dust allergies and did not think it through and almost sent myself to the hospital 🤧.
