As a beginner, when listening to random music, I'm discovering my ear is seeking the progression. Pop is soooo basic but jazz and a lot of gospel require a little more effort. But I whole heartedly agree that in gospel music, training the ear to the singer is paramount.
Who would dislike this lesson and the knowledge beng made available. I'm so grateful that finally I've found an instructor that is willing to be a blessing to the body of Christ. I've been working through your Beginner's Template for Practice since February 2019. I love it and can see the difference in my playing. God Bless you from T Town ( Toledo) Ohio
Warren, I tell people that same thing. There’s a difference between hearing and listening. I’ll reference something technical in a piece of music and point it out to them and they don’t hear it like I do. Great point!
Warren, I have gone through so many TH-cam videos trying to find someone with the "patience" to, not only, share their knowledge, but to also teach with the zeal in knowing that people, who, like myself, really want to learn to understand and play piano / keyboards. I took piano lessons back in the late 60s / early 70s and I even had a little singing group. After a few lessons, I decided to just play by ear. Well, now that I am 60 years of age, I realize now how much I should have stayed with it and practiced more. I do have an ear for singing ( I sing TENOR), however, I want to obtain the same ear for playing piano. I am so glad that I stumbled across your videos. I do know how to play the scale... thank goodness. I really think it would benefit me to join your lessons on line.

What method are you currently using to improve your ear? Ear training is all about the method and approach - you don’t want to rely on trial and error.

Dear bro , To be honest it’s a very important skill that every gospel musician should have . I have been playing by ears for quite a few years in my church . I feel it’s a must need skill for every musician . Some times in the church singer may sing in the middle and as you rightly said to find the key by listening is a very important skill and challenging. Hope many will be benefited by this organised course .
Hahaa Mr.Warren your a good teacher of Music and I think you came from a different planet..GOD May Continuing to Blessing You in more and more Centuries..
This is the exact problem I have been battling with over the years. Which has greatly affected me. Am not where to I supposed to be in keyboard playing because of this problem. PROGRESSION IS MY PROBLEM.sometimes am afraid to tell people when I actually started playing keyboard
Here am I searching for this comment. I'm like that was C#. But it happens to the best of us. However the technique is very accurate. The melody as the answers.
I was wondering if i was wrong because I found Db major to be the key and suddenly he said it was in d so i was like damn my ears are baddddd i need Some real training but after Reading this there is hope after all ahahhaha
I do really have passion to play a piano, Am a beginner I need a piano for constant practice for my progression but i can't afford one, wish I can get one.
To be honest, at the end of the day it doesn’t matter what you use. Sulfege are just syllables, so you can make up your own, or you can use number. If it makes sense to you and your making progress, that’s the most important thing. I use sulfege because what’s why I was taught, and the system has been around for hundreds of years.

There are many reasons one might not able to sing high note, most important one is understanding your natural range first. With training and technique anyone can sing high notes. Unfortunately that’s not my area of expertise. I’m recommend checkout the vocal channels and see what tips they offer. Thanks,

Absolutely, but the specific course focuses on the fundamentals. The later courses will have these advance stuff
