I love how this looks, I'm gonna have to try a cowl neck myself I'm trying to get out of my comfort zone this year and make more casual pieces that work with having young kids but also keep them interesting so I'm not just wearing a sweater and pencil skirt everyday😅
Ooh, I hope your face is OK... beginning of pandemic I slipped on ice while shovelling a driveway at work and smashed myself in nearly the exact same place with the handle of my shovel... didn't split a lip but the bruise made me glad we were wearing masks. Hi, There is something that could work as zippier tape. Look for hem tape. It's usually about 2 cm, or at least the one roll we have left after my husband fixed some drapes, back some years ago are. The drapes are still there and I believe they have been washed once and hung up again. Yours, Ann
Gorgeous as always! Goth Boss Lady vibes are to die for. 🖤 I think a really deep, dramatic cowl in the back of a black evening dress would be absolutely amazing, but, as a fellow individual that *always* has to wear a bra, don't know if it would be possible. Maybe with an organza underlayer with boning built into the front?
Love the drape on the blue metallic top(dress?) you’re wearing. Really shows off the cowl beautifully. The jacquard fabric is pretty but I could never use it lol. I have enough trouble keeping right and wrong sides straight as it is, if I used that I’d be foreseeing LOTS of unpicking time in my future.
Sorry to hear about your camera accident😢 sewkeysE has killer fusible interfacings in knit and woven tapes of many sizes. Thanks for another great video and dress! 🎉
They do sell fusible interfacing in inch-wide or two inch strips as curtain hemming tape. Or at least that's what I'm pretty sure I bought from the Jysk to quickly shorten some curtains. This is purely selfish but I have a bust dart from apex to shoulder (because I'm very short waisted with large bust-to-waist- difference) and was wondering if there was a way to move THAT dart fullness into the cowl. I'd love a video about that but totally understand if that's too niche. Happy to see it here or Patreon!
You can always move dart fullness anywhere around the bust, so you can close any of the darts you've got into a new dart at the center front from the apex. Darts never have to stay where they start, the dart legs just have to radiate from the apex, but to anywhere. So the amount of dart fullness stays consistent, but it can be split into multiple darts, all put into one, whatever you want to do for a new design. I have a couple of visual demos of this in my darts video which can be found here th-cam.com/video/JRO-GWfHyiM/w-d-xo.html Putting some of the dart fullness into a center front dart 90 degrees from the apex for the cowl tips the rest of the bodice out away from the center front line, adding ease to the folds hanging down the center in the finished garment.
What a gorgeous dress. I'm wondering something, though. I'd love other's input. It appears as if this dress minimized your bust area. Is it my imagination? Does it have to do with the gradient? The cowl? The sleeves? All of the above?
FYI - you can put any garment in the freezer overnight and all bacteria including those that create smells are inactive. I do this with my jeans and jackets all the time.
Why would a rayon lining make something dry clean only? I'm honestly curious. The 100% viscose lining fabric at my online fabric emporium of choice just says "30°C delicate" under washing instructions. Even the one with some cupro thrown in says it can be tossed in the machine if it has a hand wash cycle, which has been a thing on every washing machine I ever used.
I would have had to pre-wash the lining to make 100% sure it wouldn't shrink, or used a polyester lining. I don't usually pre-wash my rayon linings before sticking them in my stash, or using them, becuase usually I am putting them in a wool or brocade that is dry clean only anyhow ✨ If I left myself more time in life I could pause to pre-shrink lining fabric, but I pack my schedule far too tight for that 🤣

Even the one with some cupro thrown in says it can be tossed in the machine if it has a hand wash cycle, which has been a thing on every washing machine I ever used.
I would have had to pre-wash the lining to make 100% sure it wouldn't shrink, or used a polyester lining. I don't usually pre-wash my rayon linings before sticking them in my stash, or using them, becuase usually I am putting them in a wool or brocade that is dry clean only anyhow ✨ If I left myself more time in life I could pause to pre-shrink lining fabric, but I pack my schedule far too tight for that 🤣
Okay just for a little laugh, I had to re read the title, because I read it at first as - how to add a COW
I have tried on dresses that made me feel that I looked like a 🐄 cow.
I was pregnant at the time.
Oh yey!!!
