Why do you have to put a new chassis/engine / trans / brakes / wheels /to make a decent American vehicle?

Basically all they do is put an old body on new running gear,no matter the age of vehicle 50/60/70s.

Yep that's the way they do it, unless they don't have the money and they have to take a less expensive route...
