I spent 5 days at McNeil River Falls with Drew and he's definitely a world-class bear guide. Great guy, extremely knowledgeable and super friendly. You can't go wrong with Drew.
I was on this trip, best trip I have ever done. So awesome, just incredible. Never felt threatened .Drew is just magnificent. Worth every penny I spent would go again nothing like it. Just beyond words
This promo is so well-done! I'm sold! A lot of what Drew says resonates, I appreciate people like him so much. What an incredible adventure this would be! Understanding bear language and life, as well as being somewhere entirely wild.. Added to five year goals. Thank you for offering this, and for the work you do.
Looking for the right tour guide for just this! Everything you said about bears and the feeling you get just being there was so right! That's why I go to Alaska every year without fail since I was a child.
love what you said about forgetting everything else and just LIVE the moment, wildlife and nature do exactly that, at least to some of us...next time you visit Greece you might enjoy going north, there is a very dense brown bear population in Pindos mountains, especially near the city of Kastoria
Love this beautiful animals, the big brothers of my teddybears ;-). And I very appreciate the work of this men. It´s so important to show the beauty of wildlife to many people. You can only protect it when you know it and care for it.
I feel the same way as you, Drew, though I’ve yet to relocate my office, so to speak. I commend you for what you do and for the respect that you show these animals. Take good care.
Bears of the Katmai are amazing to watch! Explore. Org has a live feed with several cameras on the river. Highly recommend this channel to learn more about the Coastal bears.🐻❤
As a year round longtime Alaskan fishing guide/bear viewing guide, this guide got it all right except when he said you can’t experience this kind of wilderness setting and wild brown bears in there natural habitat in the lower 48, wrong! You can’t experience this anywhere on earth except Alaska! Chew on that.😉😏👍
When you’re there, in the wild, untouched and unrefined, you are really THERE. Be fully available for the experience (sans electronics) and just plug yourself into Mother Nature’s recharger! Photos are ok but the imprints on one’s spirit are indelible. ❤️
I've often heard it said that those coastal bears are much less aggressive due to the abundance of food. Not sure if that is true or not, I have just heard it said a bunch.
Hi Ryan, Yes, there is an abundance of clams, salmon, and other food sources for Alaska's coastal grizzlies to feed upon. In addition, the wild bears in Katmai National Park & Preserve have long been protected from the threat of being hunted by humans. Hi Mark, thanks for your question. Our Alaska Expedition Leaders average more than 15 years’ experience each, and they carry flares in case they need to deter bears from approaching. You can learn more here: th-cam.com/video/48jFjrrBbyM/w-d-xo.html
I learned a lot from the video you referenced. Main thing, the bears on the Alaska mainland are intelligent, aware they are hunted by people , so are adversarial towards people. While studying bear behavior in 2017 in an effort to figure bears out, that is a huge puzzle piece to the fuller picture that was missing. So, I guess you behave around the protected bears at the national park, differently than you would the mainland bears, right? If so, is your mainland strategy more measured for potential bear agresssion? My guess is that you'd say yes, but I'm curious as to what your view is. Reason is, I expect to return to Alaska (homestate origionaly) and I want to be completely informed to stay safe around bears. Note, I have no interest in hunting or hurting the bears.

Wow, really a thrill to watch. Would love to go to Alaska and see the wildlife.
I want to be right there with you Drew - love the bears and must get back on day, as there truly is nothing like it.

Bucket list.
Drew you sound like me. An intj, or entj. How do you get started as a guide without experience?
Specifically what kind of bear protection do you keep in order to be ready just in case? I assume mace. Any specific gun cartridge?

I went there and 25 people included me and my mom, dad, sister got traped by bears. It was fun tho
Great guy!!! Just remove this awful music in such videos. Let the nature and animals speak alone!
No wonder they like you. You look like a bear. jk
