Seperate the work from the person behind it. Rian is a good director (tv stuff and Looper) but he completely misunderstood the message behind Star Wars and turned it into a hot mess of incompetency, social justice politics (which Hollywood is obsessed about, hurting itself in the process) and anti-fan agenda. Can't say the movie didn't look good, but in my opinion, it certainly was not good Star Wars. I specifically hate how stupid he makes the women look in it. But then again, that applies to all of the characters. Instead of being a fun and hopeful wish fulfilling space opera about great characters, it became a pretentious social commentary about, what exactly? Diversity? Empowerement? Humanism? You have to love how these liberal self-righteous self-entitled money-fuelled corporations push their narratives that are supposedly fixing the world. It is utterly ridiculous and I, as an insignificant individual who has never worked an honest day in his life yet, and does not pay $100.000 to charities every other week just to fill the moral and existential void that resides within him, feel sorry for all the people involved. Btw, Rian's script for TLJ was accepted straight away, even though it wasn't consistent with JJ's story. Also you don't just accept the first drafts, ever. No issue with Rian as a person, same as no issue with George for the prequels. But in both cases, they had nobody there to disagree with them and nobody to challenge their ideas. Sorry for going on such a tangent, I do understand that there exist simple minded haters but these, thankfully, can be easily recognised and ignored.
