    • @N3VURMYND
      @N3VURMYND ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Almost Every Seiko is a limited edition. They kind of use the term loosely. Most times (Unless it's a numbered model), it means that they'll only produce the model for a year.

    Is it possible to black pvd coat the SS bracelet used on the other versions of this watch?

  • @TexasBulldog74
    @TexasBulldog74 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I’ve been a Seiko fan for a long time but their prices are getting stupid. Indices not lining up. Cheap bracelets but charging entry level Swiss prices. They have just lost my attention over the last few years with their prices and their non stop “limited editions” based in other parts of the world and they always get the better stuff. Also been severely let down with the 6r35 a few times already.

    • @N3VURMYND
      @N3VURMYND ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're not lying! I really hate that movement.

    • @EscapementWatch
      @EscapementWatch  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I agree the movement is a trouble maker sometimes. But for example this one will do +8 seconds a day on wrist. 2 seconds off from COSC certification performance levels. The average Joe walking into the boutique for a watch wont care. Heck last time I went to Kavar jewelers to pick up a watch there was a customer complaining his Seiko presage was broken. I grabbed it and started to wind it. I told him if your not too active and sit at your desk 24/7 you got to wind it. He was blown away that you could wind it. He had a 5KX on his wrist as well, (that he also didn't know he could wind) but said it never gave him trouble. So he seems to be a watch fan, that didn't know winding existed. With that being said I wish Seiko made the 6 "L" the new standard grade movement for Prospex 1k watches. But if the mass casual watch buyers keep buying, Seiko will stay the course.

    • @TexasBulldog74
      @TexasBulldog74 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@EscapementWatch Yeah the 6L would be fantastic. IMO their saving grace is their dials, most are stunning but i just refuse to spend over $400 on a watch that doesn't have sapphire (not that this one is the case but im sure you know) and they really need to put some time into improving their bracelets and improving their QC to get stuff to line up. They could get away with this stuff back when you were getting the SKX for $200 or their sarb's for $200-$300 but at current prices they need to wake up but your 100% correct that unless your a watch nerd like many of us you don't know what your missing once you pass the $500 range in terms of the rest of the market.

    I have another Night Vision, but it's the king Samurai SRPH97. Simply love the feel of the dampened ceramic bezel. It is true that if you have sweaty hands, however, you might not always find it that enjoyable. A big joy to wear it... especially since I scored it for 380 €. The issue I have is that I love these watches. Now it doesn't sound like an issue but the issue comes in the pricing, I just don't think I could ever justify anywhere near the retail of them when there is so much competition in the Swiss and Micro market.

  • @zman8340
    @zman8340 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Still got the terrible 6r movement . No seiko hasn’t done enough … how have they not come out with a true eta equivalent by now ? In contrast I very much prefer miyota 9000s. Thin, consistent accuracy, reliable , high beat. Kills seiko movements, and this being pvd instead of dlc another negative. On the positive I think it looks awesome.

    • @EscapementWatch
      @EscapementWatch  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Seiko is secretive about their coating. I just say PVD sometimes because PVD is a process of coating a watch. DLC or Diamond Like Carbon, is a different way to use the PVD process. So in a way dlc can be pvd applied. So when I say PVD I mean the process. Seiko probably uses their own in house proprietary black titanium carbide or nitride plus Diashield to make there coating. Which I'm guessing is more durable then the typical pvd coatings. And Seiko has an ETA 2892 equivalent the 6 "L" but it is only in watches above 2k for some reason! They should bring it down to the 1k mark or 1.5k at least imo.

    • @zman8340
      @zman8340 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@EscapementWatch good response . I know of the 6l movements but they put them in so little I don’t even bother to include them. Seiko is such a giant in horology I do expect more of them. Could easily bring the 6l down to the 1000 mark and replace it with something even better cosc etc for the 2-3k range

    • @EscapementWatch
      @EscapementWatch  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is my dream scenario. If I worked at Seiko I would make the 6L un-regulated the Prospex movement. Then add silicone hair spring, which is like a cheat code for movements to upgrade it to a "7L35" for the higher 2-3k mark. Seiko has developed an in house silicone hair spring and it is ready for release. But I think they are confused what to do with it and maybe only give it to GS? who knows

  • @harveytan7506
    @harveytan7506 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Isn't that the dark version of the SPB317? IMO, the bezel click is not important as alignment with the chapter ring.

  • @nightstalker824

    Nobody is calling this the "8kx" except you. I heard you call this model "8kx" on a previous review. Doesn't make sense. Sorry bud, I dont think u got to coin this nickname. Give it up already. I'll still watch your reviews, though.

    • @EscapementWatch
      @EscapementWatch  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      why doesn't it make sense? its based on the 6105-8000. 8000 = 8K and the X is because of the PROSPEX X. so 8KX. And its easier then slim willard or slim turtle. But yea the name didn't stick, everyone is calling it slim turtle which it isn't...oh well.

    • @nightstalker824
      @nightstalker824 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @EscapementWatch when seiko enthusiasts think of "---kx," they think of a watch resembling the SKX, which was not even a Prospex model. If you are going by your logic, then hell, we can have a bunch '---KX" prospex models out...
