    Bulgari watch style is not for me, but I can still appreciate the ethos and great care and attention that goes into producing them.

    Great to watch the watch case being made. The Octofinissimo in sandblasted stainless steel, no longer being offered afaik, my favorite version based on the way it looks.

    When you consider the investment in the machinery plus the machining / man hours that go into this watch , well in my opinion the cost of the Octo Finissimo is a veritable bargain. I know of a certain TH-camr who could carry off the Tatoo version perfectly, its certainly different if Tattoos are your thing I guess. Thanks again for sharing a great video Alex.

    This video gave me a deeper appreciation of my Octo titanium. I do have a question. I purchased my watch from a Bulgari boutique and they told me the watch cannot be worn in the shower or pool. I realize the water rating is 30M and in watch circles that means zero but according to you Bulgari does test their watches in water, so what is their official position on wearing the octo time only in titanium in the shower or swimming in a pool?

    • @WatchAdvisor
      @WatchAdvisor  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No wearing of a watch that is 30 meters waterproof in the shower and/or in a pool etc. Why? Yes the case is tested 100%, but the partial pressure that may apply on the case/crown/saphire crystal in a shower, in a pool (when jumping in it, making quick moves under water) may be higher than its certification...

    Alex, any idea if Bulgari will ever be able to make the Octo Finissimo with lume?

    • @WatchAdvisor
      @WatchAdvisor  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Will be very, very difficult … lume adds height to the thin construction…

    • @etamarshamoil2739
      @etamarshamoil2739 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    17:58 be careful with "the machine will never be able to do what the specialist does" maybe not this one, but the next one learning with AI.
    I'm not saying that is necessary a good thing, but i'm sure it will happen sooner than we think.
    20:40 Tatoo by laser; not my taste either, but i'm sure it can do other artwork and it's a lot less painful to get rid of than a real Tatoo 😉

    • @WatchAdvisor

      @@WatchAdvisor that pretty much sums up my concerns with AI. It's a bit of a "Zauberlehrling" Situation.
      However, i wonder what AI would come up if we gave it the task of inventing a different kind of escapement🤔

  • @rickjason215
    @rickjason215 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great watch. Just incredible that they can make the watch so thin. I think you are wrong about machines, not being able to do certain tasks. With AI advancing by leaps and bounds, the machines will learn.

    • @WatchAdvisor
      @WatchAdvisor  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      As long machines help/serve us I am in… when they are supposed to take over some day I hope I am no longer here…

      @@WatchAdvisor I think you are around my age. They couldn't make this incredible watch without the technology or it would be ridiculously expensive. One thing I learned is whatever we think will happen, won't happen. It will be something we never expected. I know you are very curious and you need to be around to see it.

    • @WatchAdvisor

      No, of course not! All this miniaturization would not be possible without these incredible automatic lathes and CNC machines...
