      It is, but as she said, it's not just LONGTERM savings, but for travel, emergencies, bits of clothing and whatnot that one may need in future.

      @Whiskey Earned I'd also question if they're including her employer's contributions to her retirement account in that. I often hear people folding the employer match for 401k's into the 50/30/20 rule. That said, yes, the lack of student debt is a big saver. Indescribable how much more that puts in your pocket in high cost areas

    She sounds just like me when she said that she wanted to make over 100k. I live in New York too and I finally reached that goal through IT. It's definitely possible to hit the 100k mark before reaching 30 years old. She's really smart with her money and ambitious.

      Matt Sezer that’s because the vast majority of people in nyc are poor immigrants. There is virtually zero middle class due to high taxes and socialist policies. NYC is a city of extremes, extremely poor and extremely rich. The millionaires even out the average to around 60k

      tbf if she’s making more in interest than the student loan APR it’s probably more beneficial to make regular payments and invest the rest of her money

      @@DC-ee9de the interest rates for student loans are 4-8%. Ally only pays 1.9%. The stock market is very unpredictable right now. she is pretty off paying all of the student loans and living completely debt free.

    I have so much respect for this woman, especially because she's able to responsibly fit in donations on a budget. That's something I haven't really seen and would honestly like to incorporate more in my own budget. Thanks for being a role model and showing millennials in such a good light!

    I make just starting 6 figure income & my rent is $985 in Buffalo, NY.
    People should move out of costly cities.
    I used to stay in MA state, my rent was $1700 excluding utilities. Asked my company to allow me to work from home. Moved to Buffalo, Ny. Saving $700 on rent.

      My mum was a model in the 80s, she would get paid £200-£2000 to do ad campaigns in London. Went to New York for an ad campaign and got paid $50,000, plus all the royalties for it years later. I know that's a totally different industry, but I've been told by soo many people over the years that America just pays a lot better than the UK if you're able to get a good job.

      Idk... I'd save a little less and spend more on getting rid of student loans. I don't know, never had student loans and never will (college freshmen, but not US) but living in debt sounds anxiety inducing.
