Excellent presentation and filming of the Kona EV. :) Regarding 19:34, the Australian specification for the Kona EV was announced today, 8th Jan, 2024, interestingly and for the better, it comes with a space-saver spare wheel/tire instead of a tire repair kit.
Yes. The Kona was originally designed as an EV first. That’s why the front fascia carried over to the gas model, and why it looks more smooth and refined overall.
This channel is quite informative. Just picked up my Kona Ultimate EV. Ambient light is a great feature to set the mood but I wish the ambient light runs all the way to the passenger sides. The back seats are quite dark at night.
I bought an Ultimate and discovered after that the American and European versions have the tail gate power lift, the memory of the elctric seat for two different drivers and mirrors that fold when stop. Why does Canada have the cheap version only.
Hi, I'm wondering will the new infotainment system can be updated on other vehicles in the future. I have a 2024 seltos and really hope that it can update
Are you quoting usable or total battery size? The frunk is about 27L from specs I've read which is decent for a L2 charging cable(L2 chargers where I live are untethered in all cases so it's BYO L2 cable). Not sure if you mentioned it as your audio dropped out right at that moment in the video but the chargeport door shouldn't freeze shut in winter as it's heated and works down to -30c from another review I saw. Glad it's not a tank, far too many massive vehicles on the roads at least in the US/Canada. Also has coast mode which is fantastic, or Regen 0. Different rims than in Australia, not sure I like the ones for Canada. Interesting, Australian version gets a space saver tire and has electric lift gate at the back so you can push the button to close it weird your version doesn't. Fast charge rate as tested by European reviewers is 103kW DC peak and AC is about 11kW.
18:58 missing is the rear heated seats. Too bad, it should have at least come on the ultimate. Also my wife’s biggest gripe is the lack of a power lift gate.
Have watched lots of 2024 Kona review on TH-cam and seen power tailgate is equipped on Kona higher trim. However, very disappointed to learn power tailgate is not available for Kona in Canada, even on Ultimate.
GREAT demo! Could we see a demonstration of the kickdown switch on the accelerator? I know some have it where you have the accelerator to the floor, but then there's that extra kickdown if you press a bit harder? Thank you so much!
Motocompacto is a light and compact electric Honda scooter that can fit in many car trunks. It's shaped like a suitcase, and the wheels, seat, and handlebars fold out. It only weighs 20 kg, low range, but great for short runs. You should definitely get one for each dealership to reach those parked cars in a flash! 😊 Actually, Charlotte and Gabi should each get one as a gift to celebrate the 100k milestone (104k now) Every day in the Kia parking lot could be a track day!
Great overview! Quick question regarding regen levels (for the ultimate and preferred trim). If I set regen level 0, and turn off the car, will it remain at level 0 when I turn it back on again?
Probably not. I have an Ioniq 5, and mine resets to the default Level 3 everytime I turn it off then back on. It will go back to whatever drive mode I last used, but the regen setting will reset every time. One caveat, there is a setting buried in one the car's submenus that let's you set the overall regen braking strength so this might actually be the way to do it so it defaults to that setting when you turn the car on. I haven't tested it yet so I can't say. When you use the paddle shifters though it will reset back to default after you turn it off.

I had asked this question b4 but got no answer..I'm new to AWD so I got a hyundai tucson 2013 recently and was wondering if I got to switch on the AWD or if it's gonna actually activate on its own when it detects its needed with heavy rain or the snow storms we usually get in Toronto..pls advise..I only used to drive Honda in the pass which was regular car but since this is a suv everything is darn new to me..
The Hyundai Tucson typically comes with an on-demand AWD system. This means that under normal driving conditions, it operates in front-wheel drive mode, conserving fuel. However, when it detects wheel slippage or when you need more traction, the system can automatically distribute power to the rear wheels.
Does this have a chime when in reverse? Virtual engine sound when at slow speeds, can that volume be changed? How would you rate it against the Niro EV?
It should have back sounds and thr like. It is an EV so it would be silent otherwise and be a danger to pedestrians. My Ioniq 5 has all those sounds, and all the hybrids I've managed to walk beside while their crawling have all made those sounds. Volume and sounds can't be changed out of the box, but maybe in a future software update. Niro is the exact same car with style differences. It comes down to styling preference.
Thanks. I find the VES that I hear around town are far louder and more noticeable than current gas engine car volumes. This Kona looks more like the Niro than the previous versions. I prefer this shape. @@chrisfabre23
You mentioned the EV6, recently got a 2023 Wind RWD and I got 365 mi of range on the high end (Aug) and on a cool raw 40° day in Dec got 300 mi of range Rides very similar to Tesla Model S...Nice!
personally I think the new keyfobs are way too big, used to just a small fob, that holds the backup entry key and such. I also wear my key on a carabiner on a belt loop out of convenience.
While they are definitely bigger than previous models (just like the cars) I do think they look much bigger on camera. I’ve had this key in my pocket quite comfortably (and women’s clothing don’t often have a lot of pocket-space)
So after buying the ioniq 5 2024 ultimate as our primary car we thought we would keep our rav4 limited 2019 as a 2ndary car..but you know what with gas prices going up and Qc deciding to lower the amount they give back when buying an EV we decided to sell it and get a Kona ultimate..either in Green mirage or Grey ecotronic...thanks for this video..helped us a lot to decide we will be getting the Kona Edit just got it today... can't believe there is no seat memory function. No V2L inside the car ...no electric trunk door But still a very good car It's wireless Android auto and has a rear wiper..stuff my ioniq 5 do not have
Hyundai and other manufacturers are in the process of adopting Teslas charging network btw. Adaptors coming in the future most likely. Do a web search on the topic 😊😉

I like how the hood reaches the light bar, instead of stopping short of the "grill".

Gorgeous. In black it would look sick. The interior is the best looking these days
Yes you are Right 😊😊

What shows up in the HUD? Just speed or more, like Map directions?

Canada seems to get a stripped down Ultimate version compared to UK/Europe.
When i made the comment to a Hyundai salesman he told me to go buy the American version. Very nice on his part.

Seems the rest of the world but Canada got the smart tailgate. SAD
I agree, we are pretty sad about it.
Did not see the 110v plug? That is available in Europe.

can you remove hte cargo cover?
Snow mode sounds interesting, not least here in Norway. 😊 I think I will buy this car next year.

Bless her, great video and well done. fyi, this is a electric car so doesn't use 'jumper cables'
Why does it have VW ID3 wheels?

Unrelated.. (sort of) but do you guys mark-up your vehicles for sale?
Our stores do not! (Brantford Kia, Brantford Hyundai, Owensound Hyundai)
You mentioned the EV6, recently got a 2023 Wind RWD and I got 365 mi of range on the high end (Aug) and on a cool raw 40° day in Dec got 300 mi of range
Rides very similar to Tesla Model S...Nice!
So glad they put physical buttons. Everything on touch screen is the worst thing about Tesla.
Surprising that the front passenger seat is manual
Does it have WIRELESS car play?
It does not.

Kia niro ev comes with power lift gate
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Very good 👍 job ❤❤❤
Thank you very much
Gorgeous!! The lady of course not the car
Wish it was all wheel drive
I would love for them to include AWD on the EV!
Very nice ❤❤❤❤
Thanks 🤗
Nice ev
The CCS charging network is the biggest downfall for any non-Tesla EV
Hyundai and other manufacturers are in the process of adopting Teslas charging network btw. Adaptors coming in the future most likely.
Do a web search on the topic 😊😉
That is less of an issue 95% people.charge at home but on trips there are chargers
be grateful that you even have a charger

With all the front sensors, LEDs, and camera there’s no spot to put a license plate.
Hi, Great point. But there still is, all our vehicles come from factory with front plate mounts. These do not interfere with any sensors or lights.
I agree with you. Not a fan of the Hyundai logo.
Hyundai Tucson owner paying 200 or more for insurance because of rumors that these cars can be start with just using USB? I REGRET BUYING HYUNDAI
Hi! All vehicles are equipped with anti theft immobilizers (and have been since the early 2000s). The USB trend is of no concern in Canada 😊
I prefer the Tucson over this.
Poor service for battery problems, replacements are a nogo for me
Nice looking EV, those wheels look awful though.
