- I fancied an egg today, only I couldn't decide what kind I wanted; fried, poached, boiled etc so I wondered what a double cooked egg might be like...

A vegan scotch egg?
Well for vegans who eat eggs.
Suggestions:
Dust the egg in corn flour then dip it in a whisked egg with chilli or paprika powder. Then fry. Drain on paper towel. Toss in sesame seeds. Super crunchy.
Tip: Put a toothpick or a small skewer in the top of the egg. This will help with coating and frying
Wrap the egg in streaky bacon and secure with toothpicks. Airfry.
Add a few drops of sesame oil to the cooking oil for additional flavour.
Ladel the oil over the egg while frying. It'll cook quicker and more evenly.

A soft-boiled egg pannéd with some smoked paprika in the crumb is a very nice thing. Bit of work but also fun if you like to cook ....

I sometimes pan fry for fried egg action, but deep fry not crossed my mind ever with an egg! Interesting experiment 👍
Cheers Lynne. I actually used to deep fry eggs sometimes when I was younger, literally just crack them straight into the oil, I liked them :)
Boiled eggs in air fryer is my new fav so much easier 10 mins at 150 perfect

Soft boil it, so it still has the runny yoke. Coat it in batter or bread crumbs before frying. I've seen a video where someone made a scotch egg with a runny yoke (think is was Heston) so it's definitely possible.

Humpty well cooked and played, chewed well and had a great fall to your stomach. Great idea paps and the crunchy fried part, I find the best too.

Indians sometimes do this with eggs before adding them to a curry sauce. I did the same but didn't think to try one before I added it to the sauce.

What to do with it idea:
Sliced, in a sandwich/bap, with "Coronation" mayo, thinly sliced spring onion and rocket/watercress/lamb's lettuce? A shake of sumac, instead of salt.✌

Ha - oh the memories ! / Hmmm - really interesting experiment this is! Mmm some noticeable scratch. Looked good. I wonder if you could make some beef mince up (say raw mince meat, egg to bind, perhaps a little chopped onion and seasoning. Kinda bury the hard boiled egg within a ball of the mince meat and then deep fry that? / Nice one as always mate, Mark.

Here's a little way to see if a egg is rotten before cracking it open simply place the raw egg in a jug of water, if it sinks it's still OK to eat... if it starts to float errrm it's not so good and if it floats to the top definitely do not attempt to use/eat... don't know how much use that is

As others have said, I've seen this done in a similar way with Indian street food. Theyd cut them in half and fry the inside part whilst tossing them in a masala sauce

I'd love to give this a go, but I think i might bread mine before frying...maybe even a cheeky pinch of paprika in the breadcrumb mix!

Well I'm thinking why not take your hard boiled egg and coat it in Pakora batter then fry it like you did I think that would work well you can buy Pakora batter mix or if your really posh make your own. Talking of eggs I got a dozen in Lidl yesterday and there were white not very often you seen them in this country.
Indeed white eggs are a rare find Ladd and I like the pakora idea, cheers.

Hi Papps I suggested with a fried egg like that make an egg masala curry. Loved the nursery rhyme reminds of my good old days (no bills, just playtime 😂).

Oh, HELL no!!! The poor egg was already over cooked and you just HAD to add insult to injury and dip the last bit into a pool of "dead horse". If eggs had legs they'd scarper as soon as they saw you walking down their aisle at the shops. 😮
