It’s a great life! I encourage anyone and everyone to do it! That’s why my first video ever was just explaining the lifestyle..there are a “niche group” that travel with the tourist industry. Great summer spot, great winter spot! The world is your oyster! Go to the places and see the things! Let me know how it goes for ya! Start making plans for this winter…I’d recommend a ski resort, anywhere in south Florida, or somewhere in the southwest(I’ll be back in Scottsdale this winter).
@@servingandswerving4106 As someone with no experience yet, what are my chances at landing a job at one of these ski resorts? I'll be working in a bar by july, but I'll likely just be a bar back for some time, so idk if I'll be qualified to work at these busy summer and winter spots yet
Thanks man! I’ve served or bartender in like 6 states now, and all we’re world class destination resorts. I love it, I go to the most beautiful places and really see the underbelly and the true places for everything they are worth…plus the money is great too! Lol a lot of my videos will be on serving/bartending/lifestyle advice..but I also plan on videoing the main things to do at these places and interviewing the people. Working at destination places everyone asks what to do and where to go, so my videos should help answer some of those questions. Thanks for subscribing, I appreciate that. And welcome to the journey. I also have a tiktok and Instagram channel with the same name
Exactly my goal, I just finished up my bar training at the restaurant I’ve been serving at for 8 months now, I plan on staying here for 2 more years (Boston area) then heading west to whatever resort I can get & then where life takes me next
Looking to do the same thing man! Always thought about it. Then got into show business which took me to Vegas now I'm looking to get back to bartending and using it to travel the world. Subscribing. Keep doing videos!
What you did sounds like an interesting life in itself... But yeah, It’s a good life man, you just pick wherever you feel like going, make good money, and check out the area, then go to the next spot! Thanks for the subscription. I give a few ideas of places to go and which seasons to hit, I can always tell you about some places that I know of from my own experience. I wish the best to ya, and I’ll keep doing videos! Much appreciated!
Awesome video! It's really refreshing to hear your experience because whenever I hear someone has travelled as a server or bartender at great locations, I usually am more drawn to the lifestyle each time. I currently don't have bartending license nor experience, how would I start on the travelling bartender journey? Any tips?
Thanks, I appreciate that a lot! I say everyone should try the lifestyle...you will grow leaps and bounds as you travel and explore the world and yourself..it will be tough at time but very rewarding. I would say for bartending it would be hard to start at a place with no experience...your best bet would be to get a job as a barback and start there and work hard and let your managers know your intention is to move up to bartender...or start as a server and then work up to bartender...otherwise you can do a lot of research online on the top 10 requests drinks, or just memorize the top 20 shot recipes..it’s all just learning a new knowledge.
Message me on Instagram. SERVING AND SWERVING and from there we will talk. I’ll show and tell you how to do it and I’ll break it down step by step for you. You can for sure do it.
Nah..actually I stopped doing that last year..I’ve been doing it the past 7 years, so figured the next 3 years I’ll stay at my spot in STL(it’s the best spot in STL and I’m one of their top guys, so It has its benefits) and now I just travel all over the country for short periods to focus on my “travel channel” I want to stay in one spot for a few years and see how that lifestyle goes..then after that it’s back to hitting the road. But I have my car registered to do LYFT in New Orleans, so I’ll drive down there and stay for a week or so. I recommend this lifestyle though to anyone who wants to make good money, travel, doesn’t have something holding them back; and wants to try something new…the places, people, money, experience, and overall growth is outstanding! I stand behind this lifestyle firmly lol
that’s awesome bro Im 23, don’t have any commitments/debts and recently got into skiing. I also happen to be a server/bartender, I’m very strongly considering going to colorado to work for 23/24 season. Thanks for the reply
@@jessec4094 nice man in one of my other videos I talk about how to get short term rentals so you can make sure it’s something you want to do. Go to a ski resort in November and everywhere will be hiring trying to re staff for the season. I really enjoyed Vail, but I’m sure all of them will be good
Carla Ballard this is what I do for a living. I’ve been doing it for 5 years. I can give you any information you need and help point you in the right path.
Watch my other videos and I sum it up on how I do it. If you still have questions afterwards I’ll gladly talk to you about it. Through TH-cam or I don’t mind giving you my number and you can call anytime today and I’ll break it down for you over the phone. Not trying to charge ya or scam ya, I just think it’s a great lifestyle and it’s something I recommend for everyone
servinNswervin I’ve been a bartender/ server for about 2 years now. I’m curious about the money you can make. 10k a month? Is there a lot of competition for work ?
Carla Ballard I have been a server or bartender for 11 years and have been traveling around for the job for 5 years. You can definitely make that much as a server or bartender at some of the places I mentioned. This requires being a hard worker and being willing to put in the hours each week, that means working some doubles as well. All places are different when it comes to competition. Right now I’m a server in south beach Florida for the winter and a lot of competition because it’s next to Miami which is a big city with a lot of people. But say you go to the Northeast during summer, then they will be most likely short handed and easier to find a job, plus during the busy season. Same with winter destination places. The only problem is finding good housing. Once you have that it’s no problem finding a job
A lot of these places literally are short handed for their entire season because their aren’t enough servers or bartenders in the area. A lot of the places desperately need workers and you could even get away with murder at the job because they just need the bodies on the floor
chellybabyme that’s why I would say not to do it as extreme as I do it. Whereas I do it for 3-4 months. I recommend just doing 2 seasons. A winter season and a summer season. That way go to a ski resort at the beginning of November, the resorts normally open November 14th, so if you show up to a ski village like Vail or aspen, everywhere is hiring in November. Get the job, and work it until April when the mountain closes. Then just take May off and travel or relax. Then go somewhere at the beginning of June, and all the summer places will be hiring for summer. Work from June-end of September, then take October off...then repeat. Plus a lot of the people I know return to jobs. Once you have worked somewhere once if you are a good worker they will take you back!
Plus during that first month where you are looking for a job, that could be where you really get to explore the area and do the touristy things. I don’t really apply anywhere ahead of time, although I guess you could. I just know that if you go somewhere during the busy season that it’s pretty easy to find a job, just go right before the season really picks up when all the restaurants/bars are hiring. If someone didn’t want to do it as extreme, just stick with 2 seasons. A winter season and a summer season, and stay with the same job. When I worked at Martha’s Vineyard for summer, there were people there that have been working summers there for literally 15 years straight because the money was so good. They would just go there June-September every summer, and then go back to wherever they came from. Another thing I thought about was getting a job at a hotel, and then having them transfer you for the seasons. But for now I just like going there and feeling places out and just getting a job. I normally check Craigslist for jobs, indeed, and then I just walk around with my resume”.Especially if you have years of experience at some of the best places, most managers would be glad to have you. A lot of the restaurant workers in these resort areas actually are J1 visas who are visitors from other countries who don’t really 100% understand the service style in America, so if you”re an American who has open availability and good people skills with experience then it shouldn’t be hard at all finding a job.
@@servingandswerving4106 I really relate to what you're saying. I feel very comfortable when I'm driving in my car and when I'm at home too much I want to get out. I've always have some form of responsibility. Leases. But if you're making 10,000 I guess the rent can be paid in both places. What holds me back is that I can't just go and swap anywhere. I need to have clean and comfortable. Just clean is basically the thing not big. Just clean. You never know what you're going to find. Thanks though. You're an inspiration and I continue to listen to what you say.
chellybabyme that’s very true...there is always some reason to stay for sure. And leases are a big one. I haven’t had a lease in awhile since I do the Craigslist thing, and actually most places I go to are very clean, and kind of house rules as to keep it that way. That’s why before I go somewhere I always look at all of my options, before I moved to south beach, I was looking in Vail, in Scottsdale, key west, and here...and I told myself wherever I find the best housing or the one that fits my lifestyle, that’s the one I’ll pick. Believe me I have had my run in with bad renting and good renting. To be 100% honest, my first person I rented from like 4 years ago was in Crestview Florida, which is like 45 minutes from Destin(further than I thought) when there is traffic, so that’s already bad, but then the guy I was renting from ended up being a nudist and had a male order bride from the Philippines who just moved in lol talk about awkward. I stayed for 1 night and left the next day! THATS all because it was my first time and I didn’t know any better, and just went with the first person I found lol now I always FaceTime the people, check out their social media’s, and make 100% certain the situation will work. You never know until you try, and if it doesn’t go the way you wanted, then you have a story out of it at least lol you never know what could happen or where you can end up. The variety is sort of the spice of life anyway. You just have to make sure the people are a good fit by doing your due diligence. The life works for me, not for everyone. I have always been fine and have been able to get along in almost any situation. I’m comfortable with whoever, wherever, and whenever, I’ve usually been like that, so for me to just pick up and go is much easier than most people. To me, I just do my thing. Well thank you, appreciate the love and support, especially since I’m new to TH-cam. Continue with me on my journey as I travel around.
chellybabyme and also if I can inspire anyone or encourage anyone, or help anyone grow in anyway whatsoever, then I’m doing my job. That’s my goal in life, I want to help as many people as I can, and just do something positive in life. If I can put out positivity then it’s a good day. So thank you for that, that’s my mission. :)

Yeah of course man..I’ve said it a few times on this channel, but during the winter go to Southern Florida, the Southwest(Scottsdale preferably) or the ski resorts(Aspen, Vail, Jackson hole)…the mountains are about to open up and everywhere will be hiring. As far as sites go, they vary on location..some sites I have used would be, “coolworks”..”qwick”..and “Upshift” these will be freelance shifts. I recommend you just find a place in one of the areas I listed, get a 6 month lease or rent a room from someone or somewhere and rock it out for the winter..also buy a small cheaper car and do Uber or Lyft on the side..since you will be in a busy area the rates and need will be high too…after the 6 months go to the Northeast for summer..rinse and repeat!
