While Frank drew the line with incest, this wasn’t the reason he gave himself up. He admitted to Sammi by accident she was his daughter. It just slipped out once Sammi said she wasn’t a match.
I don't really think that he is a narcissist. I actually do more think that he's a hurt borderline who is traumatised and has learned that manipulating people is a easier way to get what he needed/wanted. Sadly, men who are borderline often are misunderstood by society. He surely hadn't the purest heart..but he absolutely wasn't a sociopath. Have you ever searched up the criteria for such a diagnosis? But in general there is just so much more about his personality and intellect, addiction and trauma you could have analysed but you mostly just talked about him being a narcisstic dude
I will say he definitely has borderline traits but his narcissism seems to be the prevailing comorbidity. I will go deeper next time in the future for sure!
You are correct he is not controlling enough, constantly wanting to be parented & manipulating everyone to make sure that someone else is always taking care of him, the lies, the delusional narratives, the lack of empathy for others. It’s very similar to narcissism but a little more infantile. I always thought my mom was a narcissist until I did research on Franks disorder and now it all makes sense. The only symptom lacking between Frank and my mom is an obvious fear of abandonment, however they do push people away with their false accusations.
his story is about generational trauma... I got _very_ upset about the way Fiona was treated by LIP in her final season. she was spiraling, of course, but maybe instead of lashing out at the person who spent her entire childhood essentially parenting him since, at the OLDEST, the age of SIX, and offered him support and understanding after HE screwed up bad enough to be kicked out of college, he could have rallied everyone together for an intervention or something! NOPE he kicked her out. she was still the legal guardian to Liam and Carl (who was 17, I think, when she left) so idk if that was the right thing for her to do, but no thanks to Lip. tbh, a lot of people in recovery are absolutely full of themselves... the scene where an employee she was unloading on asked if he could have a drink too caused Lip to freak out on her as if that was in ANY WAY _her fault_ was absolutely disgusting. the way AA and NA make people feel like they've lost ALL their progress if they have a drink, yo maybe THAT'S why the guy called his supplier and relapsed on Defense! how tf was Fiona supposed to know ANY OF THAT, it's not like Lip ever told her, and maybe it might make a little more sense to blame the grown as s aDULT who made the decisions back to back to drink and then score some Defense?? sorry, I just hate the way that works "you had A drink, now you're literally back to ZERO... so I guess you might as well call someone you know to be holding, you're back to square ONE, so...?!"
He’s not a narcissist. He’s a pathological liar. He understands human emotions and can feel empathy. But it doesn’t mean he’ll change. He is addicted to lying the same way he is addicted to alcohol, and it does give him an ego boost but at the same time he hates himself.
i feel like Frank's selfish actions were more of addict behavior even just cigs can make you super selfish and focused on just getting a cig if in withdrawals aka dopesick they also made a series of that as the oxy epidemic, but yeah theres soo much caring and empathy in frank here and there but alot of times he tends to get dismissed or ignored by his kids for what he had done in the past and expected to continue and not have capability to change if everyone treats you like a homeless alcoholic who just thinks of themselfs who wouldnt start or keep behaving like one not seeing any other way they could ever be seen by anyone they know?
Best analysis I’ve seen. Thank you and Well done. Next video piper from orange is the new black character analysis. She’s one character i hated but kind of liked.
I love the way Frank talks it’s so elegant ironically
Frank is definitely the most entertaining character out of all of them 😭
Frank is my favorite character on the show

Fair point
Please do Monica!! I’m really trying hard to understand them both

He seems like a covert narcissist

@@opiavisuals I have bpd, too - very extreme and have been suffering for pretty long from this disorder - and I say, he fits
Why not antisocial personality disorder?

I’d love if you did a video on Karen and Debbie! Awesome video 😊
Personally I think Debbie is the best written character in the show
Nah it’s lip by far
