The biggest WTF for me isn't their technical skill, it's how they can stay so in sync without looking at eachother. I play chamber music professionally and I get anxiety from not being able to see my duet partners.
Gismonti said in a interview that this song was a tribute to his grandmother... I'm not sure why he called it "seven rings" (portuguese). Does his grandma used to wear 7 rings? :P
Can anyone explain the beautiful music is interrupted by the nonsense at 2:00? Btw i'm sure that B G D played this piece perfectly... its just i don't get why Gismonti decided to add all the junk at the end.
The Rock It's just this original sense of music that makes him Egberto Gismonti. Egberto is not a "normal" music maker. This section is just what makes "7 Anéis" so beautiful. And creates a tension that strongly contrasts with the melodic theme. For me, it's a fantastic and original theme just because this.
I cant believe that anyone could call that junk....Gismonti is a master of the highest order and I am sure that he would laugh out loud if he read your comment!!!

It was his piano teacher, and it was called seven rings because she wore rings while playing the piano :)
