@outdoorfr3ak I can't remember his name this was back in the day and I'm not as young as I use to be. I remember he had something to do with bears and was popular
You saved my life recently on a backpacking trip in the Rockies. All your tips came flooding back to me when I got injured right before night fall and had to take 3 extra days in the mountains. THANK YOU for putting these shows up on youtube. You are quite literally my hero.
As a South African, I have been in a similar situation and I have the utmost respect for you. The Kalahari does not mess around... it breaks your spirit.
This is all very real. And for a Namibian, I also learned a lot from you. Great show. Just saying. You can be glad you are not camping during the winter months. Now that is cold. Brrr cold. And some places raining. Love the channel. Though it is dry, we also have a beautiful country. Your lenses caught a few beautiful sceneries. Thank you for that. ❤
I got the privilege of spending a month in the Northern Kalahari doing some wildlife work with some local trackers. We had some well stocked trucks with food, water and fuel, we were able to be out in the shrubs for a week at a time. An experience I will likely never get to repeat and certainly one I won't ever forget. Spectacular place but not forgiving of mistakes.
Ill always look up to you les. You fueled and grew my passion for mother earth and nature, and now in my 20s im studying conservation and ecosystem management so i can become a park ranger or forest firefighter. Thank you for all your wisdom, and for your legendary persona
This brings me back! Loved watchin you while on 16 hour ambulance shifts! lol. Such a great way to learn something new about survival in between calls.
Thank you Les Stroud! it all came flooding back sitting in my parents basement watching this in the dark so invested into seeing what each episode had in store, wishing they were endless. i love this show, You my friend are a legend.
I have never thought about ostrich eggs being able to just travel around in the heat and be cooked at any time.... that is amazing. Should have been obvious because they are from a hot climate, but I didn't know it would be like that! Wonderful And I also had no idea you could eat charcoal from your fire...
eggs can travel, the reason you refrigerate store eggs is because when they clean them they wash off the protective coating eggs have. If you harvest your own or buy from a farmer they can sit out. Theres also a way to re add the coating by soaking them in lime (the rock) water to rebuild the mineral shell
Hey Mr. Stroud!!! With all respect, I would love to offer a tip for finding water in the desert... find a tree, and dig untill you find the trees water source 👍 sometimes it may be 2 or 3 feet, but where theres a tree, theres water 😉 im a huge fan and i would love to share this info! Thank you for all that you do sir, i appreciate you and your knowledge
@@universaljoint sounds good, dont take the advice then 🤷♂️😅 that is how animals of the desert get their water, but im sure your probably right 👍 however thank you for sharing that information about the shepards tree! That is something i didnt know, and i love to learn!
The Kalahari has to be one of my favourite episodes ( but maybe your least ?) Thank you for posting on TH-cam Les! Did you ever pursue MMA? We had a brief conversation about it years ago.
remember when like every other guy making a tv show about surviving turned out to be fake and this guy just out here actually able to survive anywhere lol.
He has said that if he gets to a million subscribers, he’ll do a new survival challenge. Probably not a full series. I think at this point in his life he doesn’t want to, but I’d love it if he did
Ground coffee or even whole coffee beans once chewed up and rubbed on your gums would give temporary energy boost. Yes, it may make you more tired after the effects wore off but in the small window that energy can help you push forward.
I've done my time in the desert, and even with the low humidity it almost killed me. I run hot naturally, I'm far more comfortable in cold climates, and I pushed myself nearly to the point of collapse from heat exhaustion. I'm over all that, I'll take Finland in winter before I do another desert summer.
Considering Les is from Canada, makes this survival episode even much tougher than it is. its "relatively" easy to survive in the cold with the right equipment/clothing, but in the desert like Kalahari , its very tough if you are not used to 100+F .
Would like to see like an edc of u and like Another behind the scenes like what happend after, u repairs the car and did it get repaired and how or who drive or take it back .... things like that Greetings from Germany
Hey Les, I don’t know it you still read these, but while watching I had a question. At some point you’re working with the dung, and it got me wondering how, if at all, you wash your hands afterwards? I know a lot of times you end up eating with your hands, and obviously you can’t just pour boiling water on them. Is there some other means of sanitizing them? (Or something akin to it?)
I wish we had a survivor man post survival episode on how to readjust after being rescued. The adrenaline, how to reawaken your organs to eating and all that good stuff.
For real, that was annoying but it's fixed now. If I recall, it had a problem with the video shrinking down to half resolution and being forced into a 4:3 format. Edit: Thanks, Les! You rock :)
Very entertaining and educational, a good video overall. But as a person having grown up in Namibia, I am pretty sure it has never gotten to 60°C as is shown on the screen at 8:57. Even 50°C is higher than you will find in Nam. But it can frequently get to 40 or just over 40. But mostly in the mid 30's for most of the country (including the Kalahari). But still great video though!
I live in Tulsa, Oklahoma USA. Here we enjoy watching Survivor Man because someday it may help us when we really need it. You know after the stock exchange crashes, or let say money is worthless....and war. I plan to survive with my family.
Honest question...would you have died out there in a real survival scenario? You definitely show awesome methods to stay alive, but I wonder if the prolonged exposure without water would eventually have taken you out?
I’d add all of the power steering fluid, some of the gear oil, and some of the transmission fluid to the fuel tank, before the diesel ran out. Then set fire to the tires, one at a timw
It's good to know that I'm willing to eat anything to survive. My father is a foodie and has traveled all over the world. Growing up he had us try all kinds of bizarre foods. For example, rodents, reptiles, and even insects. As long as I have water and hopefully fire, I'm sure I could survive.
Been watching you since I was a kid. Respect and thank you for all that you've taught us
Me too man
Same, I thought this was new but as soon as it started playing I'm like wait I remember this 😂
Same, learned so many fire tricks from him. Salute
Same!
Same bro. I was a young adult but you get it
Man I watched these relentlessly when these were coming out.
I had every season set to dvr and would fall asleep to them every night. Not much has changed 😂
Yes so did I he was better than that other survivor guy back in the day
@@seanmosley5834 lol you aren't even man enough to drop his name?
@outdoorfr3ak I can't remember his name this was back in the day and I'm not as young as I use to be. I remember he had something to do with bears and was popular
@@seanmosley5834 yeah alright. Use the internet you're already using to find things out and not sound so dumb.
I'm so glad i found out that Les Stroud is posting Survivorman on TH-cam now.
I missed watching this show. 💯
big ups the only legit TV wilderness survivor, original and best, Les Stroud.
Hate to break it to you, it's still tv, still fake
Ask me how I know

I watch, rewatch, watch again and again. Get something valuable each and every time. Really appreciate Stroud putting this out there for us all.
Educational and inspiring! The greatest outdoors show of all time!
Watching these takes me back my childhood! These videos impacted me so much growing up its ridiculous.
Almost as ridiculous as that comment.
Was always so incredibly impressed by Les. He's surviving AND filming all the beautiful angles. Absolutely insane.

When I was tree planting me and my buddies would binge watch every Survivor Man episode we could when we were in town. Good stuff!
Due to Internet problems, it is better, for me, to watch this episode when it is not premiering. really love your videos.
Your videos can seem stressful, but YOU make them calming with your confidence and knowledge. Thank you Les!
I love watching every episode I can find, my older brother loves your show and your books.

Always a good day when Les drops a video!

Ive been watching you since a kid, now im 23 and a wildlife biologist 🤙thank you
Grew up being a big man vs wild fan. Then my Canadian grandfather told me about Les Stroud!
Imagine if we got one last season ❤ I have so many memories watching these episodes when I was growing up ❤
I never get tired of Les, what a legend
That’s how I feel, Thank You, USA
One of the only TH-camr/ videos I’ve watched, more than twice most
Still the best survival show to ever exist 2024

My favorite survival series of all time. My wife even bought me your book for my birthday last year! Thank you for what you do Les!

Would digging down into the sand to lay in during the day help? Like under a bush or tree just removing the top couple inches to cook it down?
You are the real deal. 💯
seems like a good time to rewatch all these again lol
this dude is the real deal!
i love how he imitated the afrikaans pronunciation of "pips" xD
Always liked the desert survival ones.
Thank you Les!!
Peanut putter is one of yhe best suvival foods. Lots of protein and sugar. It doesnt go bad and it wont spill unless super hot.
Exactly my thought. It could also be used as bait/lure on traps for smaller mammals and rodents.
Mirror could be used to reflect the sun 🌞 to make a campfire. Use the battery 🔋 to start a fire 🔥 too.
Man, this place is so beautiful, and deadly.
Any new material dropping soon?

23:08 only shade for miles…but there are literally 20 trees in a 500m radius if you look closely.
23:08 😂😂😂
Whats the one thing you wish you had captured on camera but wasn't able?
Missed this

Survivor man!!! Thank you!!!
I guess I was so absorbed in the original episodes that I missed the glitches. What were they?
That's funny, here in Las Vegas it will be 95 degrees F at midnight.
Dont remember the glitches but I dont need much of an excuse to rewatch some surivorman
Hey les, think you could do it all again 1 more time?
Well ive been a fan a long time im zlil older than Mr Stroud but hes talented

Why use the can when you have the mirror?
Finally in my back yard
8:59 "140° F" ? That's got to be either wrong or a record on earth.
surface temps are often higher than air temps
@brianb816 I know that, but when you talk about temperature, 99.9999% of the time, it's the air. He even mentioned it earlier in the show.
Scorpion shiskabob? Yum!
60 degrees... I feel like I'm dying at 35
