hello Stephen thanks for helping me. can you give me the distinctive features you use to differentiate the three species of flycatchers? I used different birdguides, but probably not correctly!
The Great Kiskadee is large and very noisy. It has reddish tones to wings and tail. Good-sized bill. Usually the commonest around settlements. The Boat-billed is similar to Great Kiskadee but bill is even larger and it lacks the reddish tones. Less common around settlements. The Lesser Kiskadee is practically identical to Great Kiskadee. It also has reddish tones but the bird is a little smaller. The bill is long but thin. It is usually found around marshes and water. The Rusty-margined is the smallest ones. Much smaller than the other ones. The bill is very short. Common around settlements. The above applies to Suriname. I am part Nicaraguan and have lived there too and the above applies to Nicaragua (which I noticed you also visited) but replace the Rusty-margined with Social Flycatcher. The Lesser Kiskadee is not found in Nicaragua.I hope this helps. BTW, love the videos. I feel like I am there
