Seriously living the life of an indycar driver looks sick! Driving around the US in an RV, having an awesome time. As an f1 fan who got introduced to indycar through grosjean, it's such a pure form of racing and relaxed atmosphere. Much more inviting than the corporate and stressed vibe of F1.
If you ever have the chance to get to a race, it's a blast. People are really cool and it's so much fun. But the best part... You can pay about $50-60 (at my track) for weekend access to the indycar paddock where teams work on cars and all that, and the drivers just hang out or walk through on their way to meetings or engagements. Occasionally you can see team personnel too. It's really cool. I wasn't at a race this year, but in 19 I almost walked straight into Chip Ganassi, watched Graham Rahal give an interview, and saw Josef Newgarden, Simon Pagenaud, and Tim Cindric (one of the important people at Penske) all come and go from the transporter to wherever.
And full field autograph session. They split the field into two groups and tell you who's where, choose one line, and you get "hero cards" (driver bio, facts, picture of the car etc) signed by every driver in your group. Then anyone you miss or just want the autograph of, you can get in the paddock as long as you catch them. It's a really welcoming and fun environment. I've been to two indycar tracks in different parts of the country, and it's always so welcoming. It doesn't feel stuffy, corporate, or elitist like I associate with F1. You can see why Romain would fall in love with it. How could you not?
That's awesome. If I ever get a chance to visit the US I'd time it to the indycar calendar. Its also really good to see big f1 teams like mclaren see potential in indycar and push to get a foothold in it.
So crazy, I signed up for Netflix this week just to watch D2S series. Yes, spot on! Netflix should be doing a series just on him this season alone. What a true storybook. But gotta say, I'm already nervous about his first laps in Indy. He handled his 1 oval like a freakin pro man, little winged sprint action in the marbles - but he was on it pulling off passes and not afraid to bang wheels. I roared dude, seriously went nutz for him. That was so fun if for no other reason than he pulled it off.
I am so here for this storyline. Indycar scores another talent as well as worldwide eyeballs. And Romain rediscovers himself and his love for Racing. Indycar is definitely experiencing a golden age

I have enjoyed watching you compete in IndyCar this season. I have watched all the races you have competed in this year. I have been an IndyCar fan my whole life but I haven't watched as much the last several years until now. I also watch all the F1 grand prix races and many other forms of motorsport. The IndyCar looks more fun to me than F1 to drive because there appears to be more wheel to wheel action and overtaking. It wouldn't surprise if a single IndyCar race has more competitive overtakes then an entire season of F1 if you exclude the first lap. I am happy to see you getting an opportunity with Andretti Autosport and look forward to seeing you on top of the podium many times next season. @@amjan You know, I'm with you. I will never forget what Tony George did to fuck Indy racing up. The arrogance of 1 individual responsible for so much destruction. I can be sitting the the stands after driving and parking at MIS in 45 minutes. The last Indy race I went, 94' Marlboro 500. I just looked back at the entries of that race, Christ, friggin legends. Those were the good days. But I don't know why, I happened to find myself following F1 towards the end of the year knowing HAAS was letting the guys go and after Bahrain, there was just something about Romain that grabbed me and pulled me in. I thought, here's a guy who should be in a cemetery but he's offered a new lease on life and he wants to get back in a car? you fk'n kidding me? So I have to watch this. This is a guy I gotta see. The respect I have for him makes me happy and happy for him to see him have success after so much bullshit driving junk with HAAS. Romain is a guy you just can not help but like the guy and feel happiness for him, at least for me.

I honestly think Indycar suits Romain so well... It appears at least he gets to drive really fast cars, competitive drivers, AND gets to have more family time and be a normal person! I’m a big fan. I was keeping track of your car at the Long Beach Grand Prix. I’m with cal club and our tow truck was stationed at turn 8. It was great to see when you were gaining positions and was pretty upset when your didn’t go by again. Can’t wait for next year.

I honestly think Indycar suits Romain so well... It appears at least he gets to drive really fast cars, competitive drivers, AND gets to have more family time and be a normal person! I mean, after F1 and all of that work, it sounds like a blessing and absolutely wonderful. lol I can seriously see why some drivers actually prefer to just move here to Indy. Also, I'm loving the racing lately, just like this race was freaking amazing. This WILL become more popular...

I’m a big fan. I was keeping track of your car at the Long Beach Grand Prix. I’m with cal club and our tow truck was stationed at turn 8. It was great to see when you were gaining positions and was pretty upset when your didn’t go by again. Can’t wait for next year.
