Bro your voice is so similar to Sly's, at times I confused you two. I was playing a game while watching this and legit couldn't tell the difference a lot of the time. Loved the video! Sly is one of the foundational games of my childhood, so much so that I have his cane tattooed on my arm! Can't wait to go back and watch your Sly 1 and I'm looking forward to your Sly 3 video. I also hope you make a video on the 4th game, even though it wasn't a masterpiece like the original trilogy, I still love the game regardless of its flaws.
1:36:07 Had me in stitches. That was so funny my guy. Also great video really enjoyable through n through. Especaly enjoyed how your script played whit the in game dialouge.
The unique Rat Janitors were designed by a fan who won a contest. Read about it in Nick magazine as a kid, was so hyped for this game it’s the reason I bought a PS2. My favorite Easter egg is Dimitri’s Greasy Sweet track playing if u whack the turntables in the club
Do let me know if I am wrong, but arent the monkeys veeeery similar to them? The monkeys, from Rajan’s both levels? 🤔 I mean, the moves look very similar.
Sly 2 is my favorite game of all time. I’ve watched my fair share of Sly 2 videos on TH-cam, and I didn’t think this one would be any different. Boy was I wrong. I LOVE the level of detail here. This is the kind of attention this series deserves. I love how even though I’ve played this series dozens of times, there’s still new things for me to learn about them. Fantastic job.
5:54:13 About the blimp going south instead of east, considering we ended the canada chapter in most likely the northernmost regions of Nunavut (due to the presence of the northern lights), which itself is the northernmost part of Canada, it's possible that Arpeggio set a course that took the blimp North, over the North Pole, and is now headed due South to Paris
I just watched the separate videos for the first time a month ago. Am I going to watch them all again in this single video already? Yes. Yes I am. Also, I didn't comment this on the original video, but I'm so happy that the flashlight guard in the water bug mission got a mention. Because from what I remember, I SWEAR he had a 100% spawn rate for that mission specifically to make that route much more difficult, but I kept trying to take it anyways every time I played through the game. In fact, my memory is telling me there might've been TWO flashlight guards up there, with the second one always facing towards where you approach from, making it extremely difficult to go that way.
There’s SO many deep dives on this game coming out every couple years and it’s insane to think it came out… 20 years ago? 😭 It feels so modern. Not technologically, but writing wise. It holds up today. If anything the writing is even better than today’s writing. Sly 2 was such a gem and it refined an already good game into a fantastic game.
34:26 the reasoning for this is pretty cool, a kid won a cintest to design an enemy for the level and his idea was janitors that use broomsticks like ninjas, i still remember reading about it in the magazine
You know, its funny, like I had questioned the swimming thing when I was younger but I never looked at it from the animal perspective, I had just reasoned that the Orphanage they were raised in didnt have swimming classes and they just never learned lmao
Great work mate, this is the longest review of Sly 2 Band of Thieves I’ve seen to date, which is really saying something, you’ve done a truly amazing job here mate.
I’ll be so honest, long form videos are just so much more enticing to me for one reason or another. Just love slapping that shit on the bg. Don’t get me wrong tho, I still want substance on the long vids, so the analysis is very much enjoyed too. Love getting lost in the sauce. So I very much appreciate stitching your vids together.
1:59:50 It's kinda funny actually... The comment of "feeling safe, like you can just settle in behind her" finally made that whole mission click. She's literally leading Sly (and the player) on a wild goose chase because she *knows* he's blindly trusting her to do everything. She easily could've just told you "oh yeah the secret entrance is several feet that way," but no. She's literally dragging him around for a lot of pointless meandering because she knows she can get away with it. Sly's not going to ask "why" he'll just follow. And players thinking it was pointless padding *on the devs' part* (i.e. blaming *them* instead of *her* ) just really adds to that too.
Wow, wasnt expecting another breakdown on Sly 2, funny its not but its just a compilation of all your other breakdowns on this gem of a game! Hoping you dig into Sly 3 as well because thats got a lot to dig into for sure!
Sly 2 takes me back to when I was in the 3rd grade and I would literally wake up an hour early before getting ready for school just to play. I like to believe this was the first game I played where I began to appreciate “style” in a game, especially after watching the extra developers commentary. The cheeky ending credits telling us to go outside and play after beating the game was also a nice touch 🙂
So give it to me straight. Is there gonna be a sly 3 video? Cause you do an amazing job and would to see that and honestly more from you. Don’t know where you are in life but definitely don’t stop doing these. The right people will find it ❤
wasnt planning on watching all 6 hours of a game I thought I knew inside and out but you taught me new stuff right off the hook with the cairo easter eggs this was a labor of love and it shows
Yo! About your full Mario Sunshine Deep Dive vid. I’ve watched it like three times now, and i honestly wasn’t expecting to actually get my hands on a physical copy of allstars, so i spoiled myself heavily on this one. But i’m def going to enjoy Sunshine a plenty!
I’m 40 minutes in, and loving this video, I’ll be back to comment when it’s done. But brother, not mentioning when Dimitri catches you “Smokey alert, FREAK OUT” is wild 🫢
when I was a kid, I played this game up to the Anatomy for disaster episode. Not critically thinking or anything, just brute forcing my way through the game. I remember being stuck/ being frustrated or even scared to progress at the bomb barrel section for some reason. Again, I was a kid that probably didn't understand that fiction in a game couldn't hurt the real me lol. It wasn't until this video (and yes, I watched all 6 hours) before I saw the end of the game as my game couldn't be read by my ps2 anymore. I'm very thankful that this video popped up in my recommended and I hope you find great success in the future. Kid me is breathing a sigh of relief knowing the ending of one of his favorite games that he could never finish.
Great video, i fineshed all, discovered after 20 years things that i dindt know about in this video, sly 2 and this franchise is a legacy that needs to return.👍
About the secret RPG defense stat mechanic, I think you might be off the mark there. The size of the health bar changes slightly when you acquire the gear energy bar. I think what you're seeing is the difference between how two different health bars reflect the same amount of damage taken.
You know it’s actually interesting. IKG productions did videos on the sly trilogy a couple of years back and his were only 4 hours long at best. You’ve beaten him by a mile even though these are all compilations of previous videos from the looks of it.
Sly 2 is my favorite childhood game, Im LOVING watching this! But I'm interested, what helps you your channel more? Watching this one long video or finding each individual video focusing on separate chapters?
Hey man! Love your work and the eye for detail in all your vids. I know you probably don't do requests but i figured I'd give it a shot anyway. I think a great game to do a deep dive on would be Custom Robo: Battle Revolution. It's one of my favorite games for the gamecube and has so many details revealed from talking to the NPCs and even some references to previous games. I think it'd be a very worthwhile game to take a look at!
I think only one person pointed this out, but you and kevin miller (Sly's VA) sound very very similar, So much so that it was difficult to pick you out sometimes. You legitimately could be kevin's understudy if you want it to
I like how the Contessa is a high-tech, highly-educated narcissist who lives in European cities, runs prisons, and is good at putting up facades and brainwashing. Jean Bison is just An Old Frontiersman, who's actually pretty nice to people, and is pretty direct and open. And both work toward their own idea of "progress". Good characterization.
This video had been rewatched by me so many times just coz it's a great video to drown out sounds from the road so I can sleep. Then rewatchinf all the bits I missed.
On the explaining the id, ego, and super ego part honestly on point for a quick explanation only thing "wrong" is the id is not necessary basic things it's more thoughts and action with no consideration it's just pure instinct. You want or need a thing you take it you punch that guy who cut in the line etc...
Personal Headcanon; The reasonn why Carmelita has a Sly mug...is because ALL her mugs has been stolen, only to be delivered again with a slight modification
I’ve played this game over and over and over as it’s my favourite PS2 game ever…but I’m honestly shocked to say I never knew about that secret room and lasers from the first episode when you take the photos of Demitri
One can hope with Clockwerks internal organs, he only needed something like a heart or brain... or else a lot of people were getting some.. very uncomfortable parts to hold onto.
Using gemstones (i.e. usually rough diamonds that cannot be used for jewelry or anything) for cutting is something actually done in mining and sometimes in construction and laboratories. Since diamonds can only scratch (or damage) other diamonds, tipping saw blades with diamonds can be used to cut through various stones and metal, but not wood. If you attempt to cut something with diamond-tipped saw blades, there is a good chance it will get stuck in the wood as the gemstones rarely if ever have fine enough points that are as sharp as a kitcheh knife. Technically, other rough gemstones of something like ruby or even quartz can be used as a substitute for diamonds. This would not mute or muffle said saw blade cutting into metal. Since it is not metal on metal, it would not be as loud; however, it still would be loud, just not deafening.
I actually activated the Jean Bison level glitch after completing the game, and it didn't delete my progress it just let me repay the rest of the level again. Which I thought was awesome when I was a kid.
4:11:32 I love Carmelita's little hat. Not sure why Sly and the Gang (and Neyla) didn't get cold-weather outfits. 4:34:05 Or why the artist apparently forgot Carmelita's pants.
I hope nobody said this on the original episode, but elephants ARE actually afraid of mice, it's not a myth! This is because elephants have poor eyesight, so anything small that skitters around like a mouse or a snake tends to startle them. Like seeing a centipede move in the corner of your vision!
As a kid, there was something wrong with my sly 2 disk, I could never play the jean bison section or further. So, I would replay the game up to that point over and over again. With the ps3 collection, I was finally able to play the full game 😭
Bro your voice is so similar to Sly's, at times I confused you two. I was playing a game while watching this and legit couldn't tell the difference a lot of the time. Loved the video! I didnt notice till you pointed it out but i definetely can hear it lol
@@rayparra2278I know, it’s kind of crazy, isn’t it?

Can't wait for the Sly 3 one! This is by far my favourite series on TH-cam right now.
there will never be one 😞

@2CPhoenix well sly 3 would be nice. I know mario gets views but don't forget about your old audience.
@@2CPhoenixWhich one's lying?
@@AmiriTheGreyFirst Sly 3 video is on patreon!
I don't know whether I'd be more excited for a KH2 Deep Dive or a Sly 3 Deep Dive after KH1.

I'm a simple man: 2CPhoenix releases a "Sly Cooper" video, I must watch.
I can't wait for you to tackle "Honor Among Thieves"!

There most definitely is two, and the last one looks right at the edge where you'd jump up with the mushroom and I HATED HIM

Woah, I never knew about the cut helicopter mission from Dimitri’s level, I’ve never seen it mentioned in any other Sly 2 reviews, good job mate.
Carmelita not even flinching when being hit by the train is somehow perfectly apt. She is a tough lady.
Sheesh. You weren't kidding when you said "Deep dive"
You dove deeper than the Mariana Trench with this one
"And your suit sucks" lmaooo

So much of that game reminded me of sly when it first came out. Glad I wasn’t the only one who noticed
Wow this is such a great video!! I think after my 10th time 100%ing it, my following playthroughs were shorter than this video though 😂
amazing work

do you know you sound just like sly?
its like watching behind the scene commentary with extended cut scenes.
What if instead of being Dmitri, he was D-Freaky and had the Clockwerk Cloaca?

I hope nobody said this on the original episode, but elephants ARE actually afraid of mice, it's not a myth!
This is because elephants have poor eyesight, so anything small that skitters around like a mouse or a snake tends to startle them. Like seeing a centipede move in the corner of your vision!
"went from forging paintings to forging money. I don't have any first hand experience with either of those but" thats what they all say
you forgot to mention if you break the instruments in the club near the laser floor, the music changes to dimitri singing.
