- Let's discuss where Expats live n the Subic Bay area. I'll discuss areas from North to South and will concentrate on the old base - Subic Bay Freeport Zone, otherwise known as SBMA. I'll be doing more Expat videos on a range of topics. Stay tuned. Thanks for watching and if you enjoy my videos, please Subscribe.

as a kid, I lived in Binitican just down from the old base pool there and when I revisit the PI in the future, I plan on going to Subic Bay. Lots of childhood memories there as every day was an adventure!
+1 subscriber - greetings from San Diego, California
Thanks - you should visit - always good to revisit those memories :)
I Subscribed .. Unlike many or most, You "Get to the point" & Give Coherent, Useful Info - Very Well, lol / Thanks ..
Thank you for subscribing & the good words Ed. My goal is to always give out useful info or don’t want to put the video out.
I stayed in STA Monica Sub Div, yrs ago .. They had Bigtime Flooding, in there & parts of Barreto ..
They still do Ed
I lived on Grouper Street in East Kalayaan from 1984 to 1986. First visit was in 1979 at 17 years old. Last visit was in 1990. Hope to retire in the Philippines in a few years. I'm a little homesick.
Ok I bet you are homesick. It’s been a while for you not visiting. Thanks for watching !
I used that non copyright TH-cam song before, lol (the one that sounds like Asia) .. Da, Da, Da , Da .. with the drums ..
Got ya
Thanks for explaining .. Great, thorough Info .. Some of these Vloggers drive me nutz / don't understand the names of or how to describe the areas they're in .. A lot of them Don't bother doing their homework or or just Googling (not great splainers' either) ..
Thanks - Understood and agree
George, I have been following your bulletins for some time and will be in the Barrio early in the new year. it would be great to have a chat and buy you a beer or three when I get there in appreciation of your work on our behalf,
Thanks Greg for watching and following my channel. I look forward to meeting you. Safe travels.
It was nice meeting you today in person at the legion today…..
Same here Iggi !!!
Hi George since this video on where to live was based my request along with others I assume i really wanted to say thank you and compliment you on how well done it was. I’ll look forward to others in this series.
Hello Mark
Yes, it was and you’re so welcome. Thanks for watching.
A new subdivision is being built next/behind the Waltermart in Subic Town.
Thanks Kenny. I want to show Sta Monica and Alta Vista on another video and anything new.
@@GeorgesAllaboutthePhilippinesThe one next to the Waltermart is called Hausland Subic and about 1k down the road, on the same side of the street is a smaller subdivision called Tierra Verde Subic.
Thanks!
Thanks so much - Always appreciate it.
I thought it would be Great for Someone to make a TH-cam Documentary on the History of Subic Nav Sta (Amazing History) Even Wikipedia.. Seen a bunch of Clark Documentaries, but besides a lot of old Pics, no actual Doc about Subic Nav Sta ..
There are some out there but yes a real up to date documentary would be great.!
@@GeorgesAllaboutthePhilippines I've searched and haven't found "one" .. Guy's walking or riding around, now, looking back .. Plenty of old Photo Collections, but No actual (Historical) "Documentary:" There's been movies & videos that included Olongapo or Pinatubo (or a few stories here or there but) ..
Thanks. Been curious how things lay out now. I saw bus stops on base. Do they have a shuttle or bus service on the old base? The area has changed and has not changed. This brought back lots of memories.
Great info. Thanks again.
MGySgt, Things are constantly evolving - some for the good and some for the bad.
The Subic Bay area is becoming more congested and why I’m thinking of spending more time down south in a couple years. There are many Bus stops on base especially in the old housing. I’ve never see busses coming through but someone said the little white box trucks pick people up but I don’t know the schedule there. Royal does have buses running bringing people to the two stores.
@@GeorgesAllaboutthePhilippines how far south are you looking to move? Visayan Islands?
I’m looking to move part time to Siargao (Famous Surfing island off Northwest Mindanao) ; my favorite island. I would consider Dumaguete for the medical and other infrastructure. I would also recommend Places like Bohol, Bicol and Cagayan de Oro (Central mainland Mindanao) . I also would consider Mindoro. The only thing about the Visayas region is the amount of storms whereas Subic is a protected bay.
Great video, my wifes family have several houses on Lapu Lapu St in Olongapo. We would like to build a part time house and we cant figure out where yet. Maybe around there or up in Pangisinan
Sounds great Rod. I know friends from Cali that have a house in Pangasinan. Thanks for watching.
Nothing on Gordon Heights? I’ve heard that’s a nice area.
I’ll try to cover that some time. I just don’t know many Expats that live there. Thanks for watching.
1 so far...me! LOL
Lol
Gordon Heights 🤣🤣🤣
What do yo mean by "Subic Town" ? Do you mean what we use to call "Subic City" (Calapandayan) ?
Yes Subic City
Binictican reminds me of home... we have monkeys and goats.
There you go - Kalayaan has monkeys too but not like Binictican at least from what I’ve seen.
Thanks for the great video. I am looking for a 1 bedroom apartment myself for around 200 usd.
Your best bet would be Olongapo or Baretto/Baloy - There are rooms to rent too. Thanks for watching
Not hard to know where I live!
lol - True that Chief. I’d never guess.
@@GeorgesAllaboutthePhilippines Stop over!
No wonder king 👑 Marcos left it’s too expensive
Depends on what you call expensive - rent in the area runs from low $500 or less up to $1500 depending on location, quality etc. Some people are prepared for retirement or still working and others probably shouldn’t have moved here. It all depends on quality of life and if you can do province living it’s much cheaper throughout the Philippines. Subic Bay is a relatively expensive area.
@@GeorgesAllaboutthePhilippines I understand 500 usd that’s cool but dang those other prices
I understand but still compared too many places in the USA it’s far cheaper $650,$650 and $1000-11100 is not bad for 3-4 bedroom homes which some are fully furnished. Condos are too pricey for the size.
