What about singular they which has been approved by APA since 2019? I am having a hard time explaining why Praxis hasn't caught up and is testing on old rules.
My brother is actually shorter than me is short, therefore we made a busload of decisions and arrives at the conclusion that every brother should measure their bodies and every brother makes their own decision because they could no longer monitor them.
Thanks for the timestamp. That helps :) If the test had kept "every student" you would use "his or her." However, that is awkward, and the rules are changing for singular pronouns. The pronoun "they" is becoming ok to use when talking about a singular person because of gender neutrality. However, because the grammar exams haven't caught up to that, you will most likely have the option of changing the subject to "all the students," so you can use "they" without the rule changes. Hope that makes sense. Great questions and thank you so much for watching and commenting.
the first question at around 5:00 can be confusing nowadays because so many people use their as a singular gender neutral pronoun that it just sounds right to me.

Ms Jasper; greetings! My. Ame us Lorane Cutkelvin. I live in Houston Texas. I want to teach there. However I am currently traveling in Guatemala; can you gear me towards what courses I should study ( I really want the ones you teach) I want to teach math 6 - 8) English ( 6-8) . I know you are in Florida! But I’m thinking teaching is teaching; isn’t it! Lots if respect!
Hi Lorane. I did a video on how to become a teacher and the steps you need to take. I think this video will help you. th-cam.com/video/bK6uOWY6RG0/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching.
"Their" is a plural pronoun. However, in common dialogue, people often use it as a singular pronoun. Also, language is changing a bit with additional pronouns for people who identify as non-binary and who choose to use the pronouns they/them/their. So in these cases, "their" is correct. However, on a grammar exam, the test will usually assess your knowledge of singular and plural pronouns in the traditional sense. In that case, "their" is a plural pronoun. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.
She’s the best! I spend my free time, studying with her!

What would the proper contraction be if they had kept “every student”?

We’ve changed that in our new publications. They/their is now accepted as a singular pronoun. However, be aware that the test may not reflect that.

Yes, this book is for the Praxis Core.
Would this book be a good alternative to use in order to pass the GKE English and Reading?
Yes it will help. But it is for a different exam. Same skills are covered.
